The plug-in melted on our heated rabbit waterer, but we'll fix it.

- Apparently we had a loose connection on one of our heater rabbit water bottles. It must have been arcing inside the plug and heated up. It heated up enough to finally melted the plug-in. But we are going to fix the heated waterer so it can be used again.

Looks like a good temporary fix, long term I would think about hard wiring it up to the pens so you don't have long cords and multiple plugins. Now if they will be moving down the road I would do that when I moved them.
Hopefully less extension cords when I move them to the barn next year.

Looks like a smart move to me. A couple dollars worth of parts, instead of 20 large for a new heated water dispenser and however much for the extension cord ? When I make cord repairs, I will use 2-3 pieces of shrink wrap, each longer than the first and it never hurts to use some dielectric grease or copper coat on the plugs. Just curious, what size is the extension cord, 16,14,12 gauge ? Thumbs up and Merry Christmas !!!
That cord seemed to be about 16 gauge. I try to only by 14 or 12 gauge now. And the heat shrink, I only had 2 pieces the same length, or else I would have used a longer piece. Merry Christmas to you too!

Thats not the way to fix it. U should replace the cord totaly in the bottom of the bottle, and ALWAYS use "live- neutral-eart" wires outdoors. Greets from Sweden.
