Thank you! I was/am one of Ivan's fans. I stood out front of the store he was housed in with a sign that read, "Free Ivan." I organized lunch meetings with attorneys and animal advocates working to get Ivan moved to a more appropriate home. I cut and pasted newspaper articles from all over the world about Ivan and filed them for future reference at the Seattle area's leading animal advocacy organization of the time. I answered dozens of phone calls and opened hundreds of letters from people who cared about Ivan and what kind of future he could have. And not long ago, when he died -- I cried. Thank you for helping to keep his legacy alive.

My daughter and I took turns reading this book aloud together...we laughed...and cried. It gave each of us a chance to share and talk about life..the good and the bad. We both were so moved by this story...it was a wonderful journey I will forever cherish. Thank you so much for sharing Ivan and friends with us.
Apparently Ivan died about four or five years ago. And I was so stressed that when I read this book it changed all my sad feelings into happy feelings. Thank you Katherine!
Ivan is a inspiring book. I remember when my teacher read it to my class and every moment was so touching.
This is a great touch to share when reading the book to children.
I was stationed at Ft. Lewis nearby. On my time off I often went to that seedy store to visit Ivan. His face just a couple of feet away showed a human like sadness in his eyes. I’m glad he’s out of there.
