    That looks a lot like the stoves I got for each of my married daughters to have for hurricane and snow seasons. Hurricane for one down here and one living in snow territory. I included the fuel canisters and a two week ( pre-packed ) assortment of dehydrated food. Since this old man has to many camping stoves and supplies ( according to my wife ) I did not get myself one , made the wife happy. ( happy wife , happy life ) lol.

    I got a simpler version of this stove as my first foray into gas canister stoves, I have used it quite a lot and it still works. True enough, it’s not the lightest, it’s not the fastest to set up and the orange block at the bottom can unscrew itself if you’re not careful but if you’re not sure you’re all that serious about camping or canister stoves it’s a great way to find out.

    I've been looking at these style of stoves for years now. Wife asked today if I needed anything from amazon and I said sure. Ordered this exact unit with a propane canister attachment. Happy to have come across this video after the fact just to help me justify my purchase. Ty for the great videos. I've been binge watching a ton of them lately and loving all the great content.

      How has it performed? Does it eat fuel like crazy?

    • @Crazydad1978
      @Crazydad1978 3 года назад

      @@things_are_iffy My son has used it more than I so far. Couldn't honestly tell you a usage rate. He's probably not being that quick about getting the pot on or off it and letting it run idle to much. It does crank some good btu's though. I didn't time it but was fast for our porch meal testing we did.

    Good demonstration. I can’t imagine that the flame pattern would matter too much as long as it simmers. I have a more expensive brand name one but the one you already own is always cheaper than the new one you want to buy.

    I'm in the market for one of these stoves. I like the windshield. But this one doesn't ship with the adapters that match it to the other varieties of canisters. Since I'll be traveling in Europe, I need that adaptability. The Q&A on Amazon does mention buying them separately, but that typically costs more than a package deal. Perhaps Redcamp needs to offer a version with those adapters.

  • @GordonStocks

    I’ve ordered one from Amazon on the strength of the video review, I have spare bottle type gas bottles so this will be ideal with the adapter

    I have the same redcamp stove and it was defective. Flames came out the bottom where the hose attaches, melted the ignition switch completely off. It was pretty crazy with large flames coming from the bottom of the stove like that.

    Was the water boiled with a lid on the pot cover? That makes a Big difference in boil time.

    No fuel preheated tube?
    So, we can't use it in the Winter, eh!

  • @bazza1carter
    @bazza1carter 4 года назад

    For the price not a bad product. Flame spread is good for skillet cooking. Piezo lighters suck - they are the first rule of redundancy. I would rather have a pre-heat tube which will still have functionality.

    Amazon says it does NOT work with 1lb propane tanks even with the adapter. Not a deal breaker but a minus nevertheless.

  • @AggyGoesOutdoors
    @AggyGoesOutdoors 4 года назад

    A shame it has no vaporiser preheat tube, kind of defeats the whole point of having a remote stove if you can't invert the cannister. Could be why it's cheap 🤔

    Mine, brand new, first use burst into flames from a gas leak where the hose attaches to the bottom of the stove. Melted the piezo completely and was very unnerving watching those flames suddenly burst from the bottom. Redcamp replaced it, but it still makes me nervous trusting their stoves. Very dangerous and very scary what happened to mine.

      RUclips is American! If you don’t it get out of here

  • @trangia12
    @trangia12 4 года назад

    I wish RUclips content creators would stop reviewing cheap Chinese knockoffs. The companies or sometimes just one person, created the original products and spent their money and effort to perfect the original products. Then China comes along and without paying for patent use they steal the product and sell it as their own. We as outdoor enthusiasts should not support this behavior. I don’t mind competition but outright theft is wrong. Sorry but I have to give this video a thumbs down.

    • @zzip0
      @zzip0 4 года назад

      If somebody has a patent infringed, he/she/they can absolutely act accordingly and stop the distribution of such product using the legal process. However if there is no such patent, then this is how competition and capitalism work. Also another principle - innocent until proven guilty.

    • @Matt-wb7lm
      @Matt-wb7lm 3 года назад

      It costs a lot of money to fight for your patent. It doesn't matter if you sue or not. Over there they just fold the company and a relative puts another name on the product, changes one little thing and back in business. Most of these products are made in the same facility, just stamp on another name. Enough rant.
