@Mushroom club If you get down to the south oregon coast (coos county) i'll share a nice matzutake spot if you help me find the boletes that are hiding there... lol. I know they are there, ive seen some that others have found. I just have not figured them out yet. Might be that i am easily distracted by the Matzutake. Picked a limit today :)
I loved your video. I’m wanting to make a trip up to Oregon from California to do a mushroom hunt. Do you have any suggestions on any guided hikes to forge safely with and to learn more on mushrooms? Thank you for pronouncing the mushrooms many times, it helps me learn them better.
I do guided hikes for amanita muscaria, p. Cyanescens and p. Azurescens, and porcini. If you have IG you can Dm me @karrin_carlson if this is of interest to you 🙂
My wife and I stumbled upon some admirable boletes the other day for the first time too! I’d like to try cooking one up next find, I read they have a lemony flavor.
That’s so cool! I’m glad that you took the time to watch my video. I’ve been making videos for the past 6 years now and just moved to the PNW last year and have been having the most magical time hunting mushrooms here! Happy hunting to you too!
Great video, Karrin! I love your basket idea!! I’ve been using a mesh bag for a while now which is nice and ultra-portable, but my mushroom friends get pretty beat up if I’m not super careful. I might have to try to recreate your basket creation!
So glad your doing mushrooming videos , i would love to go hunting with you, I'm with you on the leaving tip, listen to your gut feelings. Great video by the way.🙂
Thank you so much! I’m sometimes stubborn about leaving an area but this time it really felt like the animals were kicking me out! If you’re ever on the Oregon coast, hit me up and we can go hunting!
Beautiful porcini. I love this time of year. I’m up in Washington and often hunt alone, I always carry a large can of grizzly bear spray. Has a huge shooting radius for larger distance. Honestly, my biggest fear is cougars, they are said to be elusive and rare, but it doesn’t seem to be the case up here at all.
Have you seen cougars while hunting? I always hear large animals but rarely see them. I did run into a mama bear and her two Cubs that were climbing two large pines when I noticed them. That was a bit scary.. I’m honestly most worried about running into people that are predatory.
Absolutely wonderful to see these I've been hunting southern oregon all my life if you ever want my wife and I will take you Morrell hunting sending many positive vibes to you and yours stay shroomy my friends
The only tick I’ve seen here was on my kitty in early summer. I don’t really think about them anymore... same with mosquitos. No more deet! I used to use so much deet back home that I’d have terrible nausea that would sometimes last more than a day from it. So glad I don’t have to worry about it anymore!
Oh yes! The ones that are solid/dense when you tap them or squeeze them are great for cooking fresh. They have a very pleasant flavor and a nice chewy texture!
Hi Karin, the mushrooms look delicious! I love the bear's tooth I get them dehydrated at my local Chinese market...YUM YUM. It must be Porcini season because there are all sorts of sizes available now in must markets. One question: is Bear's tooth the same as Lion's Maine? I know they are in the same family but I wonder what are the differences. Thank you for another video! Be careful out there, please. Much love from Miami.
There are TOO MANY PORCINIS!! ha! There really are a lot. I’ve been running the dehydrator for the past week trying to preserve them all so I’ll be stocked for the winter! I’m not sure the difference between bear head’s tooth and lion’s mane but do know they are in the same family. The bear’s head has a more nutty flavor... medicinally, I’m not sure if one offers more benefits. I have done a bit of research and have had a difficult time finding an answer. Ha! I guess that wasn’t very helpful. I’m still hoping to find you some nice lobsters but it almost seems like the season has ended? Which seems wrong but I’ve not been finding any 🤨 will let you know if or when I do! Much love to you❣️
that basket is dope how clever!
Watching your videos always fills my heart with love, peace and joy. You are an absolute treasure.
Aww shucks! You’re too kind! ☺️
Yum! i don't find many porcinis, but they look delicious!

Awesome finding. I saw a dear eating some grounded mushrooms near my home. She posed for me to take a photo after I kindly asked her permission.
Great video Karin! Glad to see you moved out this way!

Hi! Elevation / forest for these later season Porcini? I was finding lots up on Mount Hood in mid-September.
Sea level, on the coastal dunes mostly!
How have the ticks been this year compared to back home?

Beware of 🐻 lol...don't blame you for keeping safe :) looks like you had a pretty good day anyways
Do you ever eat porcini mushrooms fresh? I don't really find them here in New Jersey but if I do, I want to know what I should do with them.
Oh yes! The ones that are solid/dense when you tap them or squeeze them are great for cooking fresh. They have a very pleasant flavor and a nice chewy texture!
Hello Karen how are you and Sam doing? I found some King Boletes in Michigan too, watch my videos, it so awesome.
I was wondering the same thing, where is Sam? 😊 I used to watch their videos so much in the past.
Where are you? Cheers from Eugene! 😂
North Oregon Coast! I think Fort Stevens mostly!
@@Mushroom_club thank you so much!
