I think pashtos and khattak's are very straightforward and prideful about being Pathan.. but follow Islam very deeply, I can say this because I met a few Pakistani pashtos in Madinah and based on my interaction with them I can say this, they made me realise about covering our hair how this worldly life is temporary and how important is an afterlife, started covering even after leaving KSA just coz of those people who came as vehicles conveying gods hidayah. btw their urdu is very pleasant but when they speak Urdu, they say "his for her" and "her for his" in Urdu and thing to be noted is that there is a difference in tone between people from Peshawar and the rest of Pakisthan and I felt some of them are over Conservative, I mean make Islam look over strict, especially men, they say "niqab( covering the face ) is a must" which is not in Quran and can be a choice for females and they also say their females (mother-daughter wife sister) shouldn't even speak anything except saying salam even if it's relative or outsiders... I understand that Gupshup with non-mahram can be bad coz evil might take that conversation to another level but the general conversation like official or bank works or billing groceries in supermarkets whatever, those men expect their females to not step out of the house alone and few females follow that too... I don't know if it's only Pashtos of Peshawar follow that or if all Pathans do that... They follow Islam pretty well but also felt like "thank god I wasn't born as a Pashto female" after seeing those man-made rules, not being diplomatic but I must say they care about their females and also others.. CONS:
No1. Men are overly proud about being Pathan
No2. Some restrictions for females which are not in quraan but can be left for a female to decide, for example when we read poetry or watch those old movies, some lines describing how beautiful a women's eyes or facial features are highlighted and in certain situations like if a woman is feeling someone is staring at her, then she can go for face veil but forcing on them will not make sense.
The covering of the face does not need to be in the Quran. Islam is NOT about the Quran. Islam is about the Quran and the sunnah. A young woman has to cover her face. A man is much more likely to chase a young ugly woman than a middle aged beautiful one. Thats a fact. Pataans are ex jews thats why they are a good looking race and even within pakistan they follow their own culture, they do not follow the rest of ex hindu pakistani culture. My neighbours are patan, just a few metres away there was a wedding and men were playing the dhol, and she said she cannot walk a few metres to see that. When other pakistani women were running to see that. That was their culture. She told us that when brothers get married, sisters chip money in together and throw a party for their brother. I though that was strange because that does not happen in pakistani culture.
Mr. @razamughal9095 I partly agree with you coz farad is obligatory and sunnah is a choice.. Islam is not as strict as people make it look. For example, qurabaani is obligatory for those who can afford but it's not obligatory that you should eat meat, no. You can still choose to be vegetarian or non-vegetarian or even vegan, it's your choice, likewise sunnah is covering men's hair too but it's not obligatory, sunnah can be followed or left but it's not a compulsion in cerain tough situations..Some females don't like to cover their faces in hot and humid areas and some like to do that, females know better when they feel unsafe or when they are safe and if need to cover..I'm not talking about culture.. We should never mix culture with Islam, it's like mixing poison in pure water, culture can be good or bad , just an example if you go to Sharjah/uae you might see belly dancers, hookahs...even its an Islamic country.. that's their culture and not the Religion. Religion never teaches bad things but our ancestors has mixed both religion and culture and made it as traditional, I'm not saying covering face is wrong, my mom's relatives too wear niqab even people like lawyers and others just embrace hijab not covering up neck or shoulder and few wear hijab only on the head without knowing why it's worn.. what soever sunnah is for our good but allah doesn't made sunnah as obligatory brother. Nothing like arguing but hadees se pahley Quran and then hades aur usme bhi we have to do our research as many hadith are fabricated, some people even follow bidath saying "you should fold the prayer mat otherwise evil will pray" and all senseless things coz we hear from others, I think we must do our research by introspection, by reasoning even if born to Muslim parents or nonmuslim parents... Islam itself says to introspect whatever we do...
P.S: Not just they implement it on pashto females but try to do on us too... I mean they it's haram to speak with non mahram to show face to non mehram.. I already wrote so much , can't write all the stuff so just said they are Conservative people aur agar koi nonmuslim log lo face covering and all if you say or koi muslim sar dhak na start karthe hein na, tho valise log bhi dar ker door Chale jathei hain... just like if you say allah will punish you more often than allah will love you, people will go away from the word punish..
