I've been having a hard time with my Myrtles. As soon as I trimmed it last year, the cut-ants came to visit and are all the new growth. There was a smaller one on the side of the house and the same ants went to eat all the green 3 times through Spring and Summer. I finally removed it and still have it in a pot 😬😂 I will enjoy yours from afar, I love Myrtles

How late in season may I trim ?
It is a bit too late now to do any hard pruning. Late winter or very Early spring is the best time to do a pruning.
Our tree is extremely tall, way to tall. Can we just top it at 8 foot and let it take off from there, again?
Our crepe myrtle only has two main trunks is that ok?
That is perfectly fine but, you can let a third one grow if wanted.

You should dig up the bases of those trees their root flares are buried and it'll hurt them in the long run.
Just means they were buried way too deep.
