The thing about the arty is I know its useful, but in vanguard I NEVER end up using them, so I decided not to waste points in them anymore in vanguard. Thanks for the cast. GG to my opponent.
16:17 IG 18 are WONDERFUL weapons and I love that 12th SS has 2 cards of them. They truly are great AT weapons and Infantry Support for dirt cheap. They work excellent for fast push like in vanguard income because of just how versatile and cheap they are.
The Panther Ds actually had/have a 2nd machine gun in the hull like later Panther variants. The difference is that it uses a letterbox style hatch they have to open in the front upper plate and not a ball mount like the later versions. I've never seen it modeled in any game to use the letterbox flap to fire the hull mg.
What a beautiful deck, we can see the love of jaapaasa for DFL. Rare to see that ! I already said and i will say again jaapasa is ones of the best DFL player, it is really a pleasure to see him play the div !
I understand not bringing in any inf leaders when you have so few slots and all of them are fanatical anyways but i felt like the vet difference really cost him a lot
By that logic stuarts must mince infantry with their 37mm :) Fun fact, every singe hmg team, even mg08 or scwarloze, does more suppression than your standard 20mm autocannon
@hibikinyan7180 well rate of fire comes into it ;) The 37mm on armoured vehicles could use some love though. It has the same RoF as guns twice its calibre (therefore 4x the size), doesn't make any sense. Especially since, or course, the obscure and outdated Eastern European technology in the same calibre gets several times the RoF, because reasons.
Well apparently its usually due to those light tanks being cramped. Although I’ve seen some people say turans are essentially just as cramped as a stuart turret so maybe
@hibikinyan7180 yeah, I'm sure the Pz.35 is far roomier than the Stuart. /s I can only assume they started it on the same RoF for balance, then threw that balance out in pursuit of creating a unique feel to new equipment once they added the later divisions. This in general is why obsolete interwar equipment has a strange tendency to be *better* than the modern equipment fielded by well equipped nations in Steel Division. Because the obsolete equipment was added to the game later and Eugen wanted it to feel different.
This really was the battle of Fanatics as large portions of both divisions have that trait. kind of makes for interesting infantry gameplay not being able to use surrendering for 80% of the fights. also that 28 50Kg bombs should be absolutely crushing against infantry but for some reason the damage radius on 50Kg bombs seems to be lower than that of a 105mm howitzer despite the fact that the explosive yield is closer to a 203mm howitzer. it doesn't even make sense from a balance perspective for high altitude 50Kg bombs being that weak.
An interesting plan by Hobo, and a bubble well reduced. But bad trades and a weird deck made him lose. Also it wasn't the best pick but nice to see players who like the div play it in tourney, a not adapted choice but respectable.
Yeah...honestly I usually only last 10 minutes against Jaapaasa, I didnt expect this game to last long enough for me to use arty. Which is why I used Vanguard against him and my best vanguard deck.
Single 20mm are decent imo too, in terms of stats they are actually 30% of the firepower of a quad, for 35% of the cost - not a huge efficiency loss, while being much lower value targets
@@ghost28896 well they will do that, as long as you invest enough into them. Buy at least 3 of them at once - same price as a flakvierling - and considering their decent vet curve, you can make them 1vet and even have a bit better firepower. Of course when you use them that way you realize they are pretty card inefficient, but in terms of point efficiency they are a perfectly serviceable weapon.
I understand mathematically they shouldn’t be that bad, but their performance in game is consistently quite poor and demonstrate and inability to stop planes from bombing, even with several of them
I’m not sure how I feel about gameplay nerfs for a historical game. The game is already in a weird place I suppose. E.g. Allied artillery fire is not absolutely withering in game. Historically the 12. SS-Panzerdivision got smashed by the Canadian Infantry Divisions in Normandy.
artillery is a weird thing in this game, its extremely expensive which makes it difficult to field enough to actually get a proper artillery battery setup and its sitting in this weird spot where it can absolutely crush an opponent or be useless all game long. especially if you have to spend all match doing counter battery where you both are spending points on arty for the sole purpose of firing artillery at other artillery. Personally I think a Sherman and a single 105/122mm howitzer should not be the same price as you need at least 2 or 3 medium sized howitzers to have a good effect on the battlefield but a single Sherman can be crushing when put somewhere the enemy can't kill it instantly.

GG's! Was a fun and interesting game
You guys put on a hell of a show, very entertaining.
Fair enough!
FYI "Chocs" are pronounced just like the "shock" word (that's literally their name, "shock (commandos)")
And yes, "cresting" is a verb too
Thank you!

Understandable! Gg!
I really love the Wirbelwind, I just wish more divisions would get it
yeah, shame that its so rare but only about 87-105 were ever built.
Yeah they are really limited in availability on top of it

Very interesting I did not know that! Thanks for the info!

Thank you! Let's just say I have taken notes from the best DFL player😉
@@jaapaasa 😄not for long time anymore 😉
Yeah he’s a monster with it!

Totally agree. Probably would have brought batterie leaders in the arty tab
It's silly that .50 are better than 20mm.
The latter is nearly twice the calibre *and* high explosive...
By that logic stuarts must mince infantry with their 37mm :)

Yeah this is one of those game aspects that falls into a gameplay over historical accuracy I suppose

Yeah it definitely led to some really unique play patterns
great game. hobo did pretty well given the empty arty tab agaisnt DFL of all divisions
Yeah he held on well!
An interesting plan by Hobo, and a bubble well reduced. But bad trades and a weird deck made him lose. Also it wasn't the best pick but nice to see players who like the div play it in tourney, a not adapted choice but respectable.
Yeah always exciting to see something different!
20 mm in vanguard play are very risky unless that div were reduced to only anti air mg trucks
Yeah I kinda always disagree with relying on them
I think the lack of arty hurt Hobo especially in C phase
Yeah...honestly I usually only last 10 minutes against Jaapaasa, I didnt expect this game to last long enough for me to use arty. Which is why I used Vanguard against him and my best vanguard deck.
He's a beast your armor gave him so much trouble plus your aggressive play gg

Thank you ! @@PKHenry
Yeah hard to plan for that though if you want to win fast

How I see it is, that things in my AntiAir tab (excluding dual purpose guns) should stop enemy air , if it cannot do that, why waste a card on it.

Not seeing an arty tab actualy scared me lmao
It’s definitely different haha
Could Hobo have won the game if he had better AA ?
Yes.
Yes I think potentially
12th SS "Can't say the name" division
Just best to avoid it honestly

I think we always have to take the word “historical” with a large grain of salt
