I first heard this in an odd place. It was adapted into a video of sorts for the 90s cartoon series "Tiny Toon Adventures". I believe they also made one for another song from this group, "Particle Man".
My favorite version of this song is by a little known Aus band The Conway Brothers (from about 1986 (not to be confused with the electronic dance band of the same name). Mic and Jim Conway were also the founding members of the novelty/folk/jazz /swing/vaudeville band Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band in the 70s. Probably only known to a select few of us of a certain age, but they were hilarious.
Just found out today according to Wikipedia : Jazz historian Will Friedwald mentioned that the song is an answer to "C-O-N-S-T-A-N-T-I-N-O-P-L-E", written by Harry Carlton and recorded in 1928 by Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra ruclips.net/video/BKjwqo8GcLE/видео.html
this video is ridiculous. i am from turkey and i have never seen any camel in my entire life. Turkey doesent have a desert and it doesnt have any camels either.
Hmm - I'd heard it (only one or two times) but I didn't realise it was a cover version: the original's from 1953. You could do an updated version with verses for other cities or even countres: Mumbai (not Bombay), Myanmar (no longer Burma) etc... ;-)

Oh...TMBG...Their album "Lincoln" is a gem. They were huge on alterative shows on MTV Europe. Thanks!

And add more cities, as history gets rewritten 😉 -G
Now, if people were reacting to the song Subliminal by TMBG, I'd respect RUclipsrs a lot more.
HOW COULD YOU NOT DO THE ANIMANIACS VERSION???
I am disappoint
I didn't know they did it. Now I am intrigued! - M
That was _Tiny Toon Adventures,_ not _Animaniacs._ Both of which were great shows. :)

Also, learn ya some with Conifers, or The Sun.
