I did this a few years back when I had a spare afternoon and wanted an easy day. I didn't get quite the sunshine you got, but I remember standing at the summit and spending some minutes watching a raven doing barrel rolls on the updraughts, seemingly just for fun ! then encountering some feral goats having a set-to on the track back down. The sound of those heads clashing made me wince...but I read that they have extremely strong skulls around the horns for just that reason ! Another easy-ish day hike I would recommend in that area is Errisbeg hill outside Roundstone. No path, but easy access, not too high and spectacular views to the Bens and south to the sea and south Connemara coast. Lovely video by the way, Ellie.

Don’t worry about the phone or “shaky” hand held footage - nobody minds. Youre still making a great review pf this beautiful trail and giving us helpful info.

    Hi Ellie
I did the Glendough white route on Sunday. Thanks for your last video, it helped me prepare and to see the hike.

The descent trail needs a steel rope installed just for the first 50m to assist a weary traveller of any age . . The circuit is perfect for training .
Having people reverse course at the top is going to create a bottle neck .
These steel ropes are used in alpine ascents , like a handy hand rail . But with the wind at the back of dismond hill its almost impossible to get down , let alone fall . .. it was a thought i had when i was up there last year .
    A great hill .

Hey Shane - thanks very much! And yes if you go back through our channel we did the Western Way in 2018 I think. Walked from Ballina in north Mayo all the way down to Oughterard 😊

Another great video! What other entry level hikes would you suggest for the West of Ireland near/ hugging the coast or with great views of the water.

Thank you! Knocknarea is a fantastic hike in Sligo with gorgeous views of the coast and a mix of terrain. If you want to be right on the coast I’d recommend Aughris Coastal Walk or Killaspugbrone loop. Both easier walks, but right on the water and beautiful ♥️

Thanks for the great video! Never knew about this hike & always looking for new spots near our summer home in Galway. Any shoe recommendations?

Delighted to be able to add a trail to your list!
As for shoe recommendations - it depends on your foot shape, but I love Hoka, Salomon and Meindl trail shoes. They all make really great quality and all fit very differently, so between those brands I’d say most people would find something that suits them 😄 I’m currently trying out the Salomon X ultra 360 shoes and love them so far ☺️
