I don't like how everyone is saying how "brutal" or how this is "rape" because it's not. The girls go along with it if you haven't noticed and if you ACTUALLY understood what they're saying you'll know. I suggest you all not making claims, especially if you don't know how are tradition is. But one thing I do disagree about is the whipping part where women are supposed to get 'stronger' that's one thing I don't really like to take apart.
Some women hate it and don't get to refuse before the water is thrown on them and they are whipped. I think it's ok as long as it doesn't do any permanent damage, they know everything that will happen, they are asked beforehand, they're choice is respected and they are not pressured into any certain choice. The thing is, a lot of women don't like it. These ones were cool with it, that's fine. But you can read online from women who really hate it and don't get to choose. I do agree with you that people exaggerate though. It's certainly not 'Rape'. It can't be compared on any level to rape, that's way too extreme.
I'm Slovakia and I hate how all the foreign people say things about it when they have no clue what's happening plus I really like this tradition. If people really don't want it they won't do it
I don't like to pour a girl who doesn't pour me back, they are so shy that's not for me to do it without defence. More girls should pour the boys back for a better fun rather than running away. In our region, we always get poured from the girls and we don't hate it. And we use almost solely a cold water, painy whip is only used against the slovan-fans when being hunt in the streets of Trnava
You are wrong! It is the opposite of fun for most of the smart women and man, they don't do it at the parties. This dumb tradition comes from a Gypsy culture, when a man was fighting with his woman, they used to pour a bucket of water on them and slap them with a stick, the White Gypsies just copied this stupid, violent behavior and picked a day to do it, unfortunately they picked the Easter.
Selina Kyle :3 There are lots of women who don't enjoy it. If you don't believe me just read about it and how certain women feel on the subject. It would be fine if they just asked the woman first and didn't pressure her into a certain choice. That way the tradition stays but anyone who doesn't want to participate doesn't have to.
Many people in Slovakia, especially on the villages still like these traditions, but it is not obligatory so if you dont want to be poured, it is your thing, we dont force anyone.

No. They only pour water buckets on you and whip you with whips made of willow branches. They do it so the girl will be "healthy" and they also get rewarded(chocolate, money etc.). No worries, it's not rape the women take it as a tradition.
The Slovaks are soo hipster they did the ice bucket challenge before it was cool.
I love how all the foreigners in the comments are scared of this
