I purchased 3 of them they look cool for display reasons if you have comics that you really dont touch much. They are not sturdy so i used wood glue for most of the box except for the display side. Also once you put the optional display part you cant pick up the from the handles because they are blocked from one side. I dont know how he paid $25 each but the cheapest price i have seen is $49 per box not cheap. Nice simple video.
Would you be willing to spend a little more for a better co strutted box, with: 1) secured stackable option 2) display frame like this one has 3) custom carved front, word/title/character 4) ability to have the divider in with the ability to put a lid on I am working on building a durable display comic book box for myself and possibly to sell.
I was interested in these initially as they looked smart. But helpful to see it in situ', - I can see the lid is warped, which generally means there's moisture causing the warp - with the box not having a lot of air into it, the comics are going to get some mildew - not great at all for preserving your collection.
I bought 3 that shipped yesterday. Thankfully they have no damage. I'm taking the advice to glue them together though. I'm mostly concerned about the display comic because I want to change them out on occasion but it looks like that'll be difficult.
What about picking them up? Doesn’t look like there is really a good place to grab them? They look nice, but I think I’ll stick to the printed short boxes. Great art and much cheaper. Thanks for the review. Also wanted to say thanks for pointing me out to those shelves months back. Finally got some and love having my books displayed
look nice, but that's about it. Wouldn't want these to really store comics. There are acid issues when storing collectables in wood, that could damage the comics, so I would trust it. Rather get the cardboard or BCW plastic bins. And if you must; stick a top loader on the front with double sided tape so you can stick a comic on the front.
Those are cool storage boxes! I wonder if you can stain them or put some sort of lacquer on them to match existing decor? I have a closet full of BCW black plastic storage bins, looks good in the closet, but if I had them out I would want something like the wooden ones. Just a different color.
I could imagine staining them for sure. Could be cool to give it a different color. At the end of the day, I think these boxes are all about aesthetic (less about preservation/storage)...so painting makes sense.
Enjoyed seeing an alternative to storing books. Before seeing vid though just purchased several BCW Comic book houses for my short boxes. It's not as "pretty" as the wooden box version, but the pros are being able to stack and the drawer like features. Liked vid 😃 👍
I saw this awhile back was going to get it but I do think the bcw plastic bin is far superior It’s less with more features An it’s in between the cardboard an this storage wooden box in terms of price range
Nice review, thanks for that. I've been eyeing this one. One question... how many books do they hold? I'm pretty new to the hobby, so I have less than 100 books. I figure whatever I get, I'd need a comic barricade to keep them upright and from sliding.
Thanks! Its about the size of a "short box" which holds about 150-200 comics...So you might have a little extra space in there....but i'm sure you'll fill it up soon ;)
@@Swagglehaus You won't notice anything rt away. Over time wood does damage to comics. Also light from outside will ruin your comics on the wall also. I have black out curtains in my comic room

Yeah they're def for aesthetics! That's a good call on the wood glue. I should probably use some.
My husband uses these plans from Woodglut and is very happy with them. However. I love yours!
Glad you like them!
@@Swagglehaus 👌👌
Thanks! I'd wondered about these, and now I'm convinced they're not for me.
Glad you found it helpful! Yeah they’re not for everyone. :)
Great video. I don’t have any of these boxes but I have thought about getting some of those black plastic ones for more of my grail books.
Thanks! Yeah these boxes aren't for everyone, but they look nice for sure. :)

What kind of wall shelves are you using? They look rather elegant and not too bulky.
I have the same question!

Great point. Yeah these things def aren't for everyone. Really more for looks/aesthetics than storage.
Nice review. Good info. 🤙
Glad it was helpful!

It’s not too difficult, but it’s a little bit of a “thing”.

Yeah there isn't any handles on these boxes. Just gotta grab them from the bottom. These are pure aesthetic over function.
I've seen those boxes online they are nice I make my own out of wood
thanks for the review
No prob. Thanks so much for the shoutout! Enjoyed the live stream :) and look forward to seeing more.

I think I'd rather have the BCw plastic ones.
@@robertt9342 I love my bcw black plastic short boxes. I can squeeze 100 mylar bagged and boarded books into them.

Cowabunga fam🤙
This time I will do it manually with the help of Woodglut designs.

Yeah I think those are great bins as well. I would say these mostly shine for aesthetics and less for storage.
What are the dimensions to these boxes?
I got em and they where not great. Definatly need some diy love
That's a fair point. They are def not for everyone.
IS THAT AN EMMY?

did you win an emmy?> :)
Make it wooden with the help of the woodglut instructions.
Worst idea ever, NEVER STORE comics in WOOD boxes, WOOD spill acids and smell. Acid Cardboard Boxes are the way to go.
So far I haven't had any problems with them. Especially since I keep most of my books in mylar. But yeah these aren't for everyone.

These boxes are cheap crap and overpriced. Apologies.
They're def not for everyone. Def have some issues, but I think they look nice :)
