You nailed it on all points. 💯 I love to buy movies and TV series on Blu-ray because it allows me to rip them, and to be in total control of how that rip is made. I like to take the audio and run it through a custom downmix and dynamic range compression. This leaves me with audio where the dialogue is super clear and the loud action scenes are tamed down. This is just SO GOOD for watching my movies wearing headphones, or for watching movies late at night without waking anybody up. And of course it all still sounds and look _good_ , because the source audio/video on discs is pretty high-bandwidth to begin with. I mean, okay, the video on oldschool DVDs isn't so great for watching on a TV or even a computer, but it's fine for watching on mobile... and if you have the time and storage space, you can AI-upscale oldschool DVDs to 1080p or even 4k with pretty decent results.
As someone who has always advocated for the purchase of physical media over digital in most cases these days when possible, I've found that PC gaming is wearing me down to the point where I'm backed up against a wall and have been robbed of my option to purchase disc forms of my games. The closest I'll have to this is those games that come in a box and sometimes even a disc and will contain nothing more than a path to a Steam download and it's quite a disappointing outcome to have happen. Also, I wish I weren't forced to play games on console in order to preserve my games in physical form these days, as that is far from my preference in platform. Sometimes, ya can't have your cake and eat it too, tis a shame...
Good points however it may be hard to buy them later in the future as companies slowly drop support for them as their doing right now with cable, and just like retro video games they may be too expensive to buy

You can still re-download games on the wii u and 3ds what you said is untrue hell you can actually re-download things from the wii shop and dsi shop

If people buy them they will keep selling them. Just look at the record, a dead format resurrected by hipsters
Quick correction: The 3DS and Wii U eShops still allow you to redownload titles that you purchased and even download updates for physical games.
For now. But eventually that will end as well. You can't access the Wii and dsi shops at all now.
