In The Sims 2, there was originally one more wish - "Give me Youth", hidden from play. This wish was never finished from Maxis and can only be unlocked by using a third-party mod.
The S1's lamp is limited but I like that every wish has a chance to go wrong. However I like that in the sims 2 for every wish there is a negative consequence, but the good thing about the sims 3 is the way to find and free the genie. The ideal would be a combination of the 3, possibility of failure, consequences if it works and complexity to find the lamp.
I found the Sims 1 genie to be the funniest- especially the fails considering he is an inexperienced genie- "Great Balls of Fire!" as your shower catches on fire 🤣
TS2 appearance wise and the summon and return action is the best out of the three. TS3 wins gameplay wise because you can do a lot more with the genie and even move one/create one into your household. TS1 adds more suspense because the consequences of the wishes are stronger. Each one has its strengths when it comes to the genies, but overall I choose TS3 as the winner. (TS4 could what? Never..)
Sims 3 is probably the winner because you can play as a genie- and it was fun in 3 how you could have all kinds of little side quests like that to do different things
In Sims 2, if you choose the money wish, 4 bags of money will always fall. It's not random or left to chance, you just have to wait. The first bag will be 10k, then 7k, then 5k, and finally 3k. But a few hours have to pass in between. And the will always fall only near the sim who made the wish. If your screen is not on the sim who made the wish, then you won't be notified for the new bags, you'll just randomly see them somewhere in your house. Because the way they work is when one is about to fall your sim's queue of actions will be cleared, then the bag will fall, they'll react to it, and then carry on if auto-will is on. You have to manually collect the money but no other sim can steal it from you. Also, I'm not sure if the burglar thing is true because I always wish for money (the rest of the wishes don't apply to my gameplay) and I've never had a burglar. To be fair, I've been playing sims 2 for 15 years now and I think I've only had burglars less than 10 times
in sims 1 when you picked "friend" and it gave you one new friend, i dont know why but i assumed if you picked "family" it would give you one new family member 😭
Knowing that the Genies in Sims 3 can let take control of others Sims that one thing alone was enough for me to get the showtime expansion pack in the first place
As a kid playing Sims 1 I always wondered if the number of times the ginie nearly fell over was an indication of how incompetent and likely to screw up he was.
From my own observation, the Sims 2 lamp is dropped off if your household has high relationship gains, promotions, romance(family or hookups) and high aspiration over any given two-week period. She says 'path of excellence', and she means it, keeping your sims busy busy achieving excellence. It's mostly a reward for good gameplay, and that makes the more limited, life-changing wishes much more worth the effort.
In the Earth wish of Sims 1, if the spell fail and you don't have any plant in your house then he will summon 3 dead plant pots instead. I think it work like that if the spell success but with healthy plant pots.
Honestly the fact that the Sims 1 Genie was almost always terrible made it the most fun. You knew 99% of the time he was going to ruin your sims house in some way but you still used it because the utter chaos was the most fun part
I remember the genie just used to give my Sims bills in Sims 1, and then the repo men kept coming and taking their things because I didn't know about the rosebud cheat.
2:15 Also, about the "Love" wish in the first game, if it goes wrong, it will also greatly tank the affected Sim's motives. Of course, the only way you can see it happen is if the Genie picks one of your Sims in the lot (but you'll also notice that affected guests will want to leave immediately). 5:30 Also, the "Friends" wish is almost completely useless since it can pick a pet, and that's not useful for promotions. Though it also means it's nearly harmless if it fails.
TS3 resurrection wish would be perfect if there were consequences like someone else in the family dying or the sim coming back with the Evil trait. Horror story material. Lol. Pets could come back aggressive.
@@ple8379 Same! I definitely was inspired by Pet Sematary on the pet one. I'd love for spooky consequences. Every scary movie that deals with the dead returning theres always something that could go wrong so why shouldn't we have that in the sims?
