Goku still stronger vegeta saved goku life but most of the time is because vegeta wasn’t strong enough to be the opponent that being said saving his life at that point doesn’t count
When i first saw this I was a kid i didnt really pay attention. Now as an adult, I fully understand the impact of that speech, vegeta lost everything, worked long and hard to become stronger than his oppressor, only to be surpassed by a "lower class wretch", serious respect to vegeta.
Same! As an adult, I get it. His “birthright” is just that thing he always would help him deal with the trauma of everything he had to deal with and the hope he could avenge his people. Goku took that from him in Namek. And made it worst against Cell. His “pride”, which is the voice he told himself when his people died that he was destined for greatness was destroyed by Goku’s actions. 😢
And the payoff was Vegeta realizing this was a stupid way of thinking "You're better than me Kakarot" He's accepted that it's ok for Goku to be stronger, it doesn't make him a failure
This arc is Vegeta's defining moment. His revenge bout with Goku releases Majin Buu and Vegeta realizes rather quickly that Buu is the kind of creature that will indiscriminately destroy everything in his path. He realizes how foolish he was to take such a risk just to appease his own pride, so he makes the ultimate sacrifice to try to put a stop to Buu.
The beauty of vegetas character is the lessons you watch him learn. To where he becomes more like goku. Then, he eventually realizes what's actually important to him. His younger self would consider his views now as weak. Even though it has made him stronger than he ever thought was possible. My bulma is a good example of that strength for the protection of what you hold dear.
I love Goku he is funny and never gives up. But vegeta is the One who resemble normal people who no matter how hard you train there is a guy who always pass you and left you behind in the same dream, but he never gives hope.
And the funniest part still? Toriyama didn’t really care for vegeta all that much. He just found vegeta to be helpful to have around. Which is entirely true. Without vegeta most of the dragon ball z series wouldn’t even exist.
@@mr_fox8066 Nah. Toriyama most likely didn't write the destroyer gods yet. If Shin died here, either the Destroyer Gods would have never existed to begin with, or they would simply not be connected to each other.

This has always been his obstacle and his motivation for power, this traumatic mindset is his limit and his way to break it. This is why Goku is almost always one step ahead.
Vegeta had it completely backwards, Goku never did all those things to shatter his honor, to prove that despite not being a prince he could surpass him. Goku only fought to protect those he loved and saved those who he believed could be redeemed. The Buu saga has the best ending regarding all this. I won't spoil for those who did not watch. But back in the days when i first watched it, the story really got to me. I don't know if its the same for most people.

But Vegeta- man, he really doesn’t get told enough that he is a great warrior, and even when Goku tells him, he still feels cheated, only because they’re literally the last two full blooded Saiyans. I grew up the short kid with a temper issues and ADHD. I went to high school and had lots of bitter experiences with death and many betrayals from friends and family.
