  • This video explains the different types of joints in FEA, what is fixed and translational or sliding joint in FEA. It also explains the pipe and its supports analysis by providing fixed joint at one end and sliding joint at another end. It presents how to extract the joint reactions using ANSYS

what about an expansion joint, an expansion joint can be simulated for FEA in ANSYS?
I'm researching about flexibility in piping systems, and my main trouble is a pipeline with an expansion joint. Can you help me with that?

What is difference between joint with contact? Ex. What is difference fixed joint with bonded contact?

Both joint and contact are different types of connections and used for different applications. Joints can ne used to replicate actual physical joints while contacts can be used other connection (welds & friction). Fixed joint and contact represents the similar connection type. hope you answer me did you design the structure in ansys or in solidwork ?

The structure is referred from grabcad library and modfications are done in ansys
