    I have always thought the Nova's were the best looking GM cars out of the 70's.

    Love Novas. My first car was a 1971 4 door Nova with the same 250 you have. South Dakota car no rust. Bought it from my grandpa for $800. He was a house painter later in his life, so he painted it it black with a paint brush. It wasn’t pretty but for an old school metal head like me it was perfect. Love your videos.

    My two-barrel carburetor did the same thing on mine too they're notorious about getting trash in the needle seat and Float sticking I had a 300 6-cylinder Ford engine and the 2 bolt carb looked the same, I had to hog out the bolt pattern just a little and it bolted directly onto my Straight 6 Chevy never had trouble again.

    It looks like the accelerator pump is not working. It was in that kit ,the little cup you remove it from the pump and replace it.Also you might want to change the oil due to gas contamination from flooding.

    There should be a gasket I think under the louvers right? I had some on my 68 took them off and found a L88 hood something different lol to many cowl hoods on Nova's lol

    Hello,
    Float should hook into the needle; I know she works now, but the needle can get stuck in the seat, and render a no fuel situation. Also, your float level is now lower by a bit. Timing sounds like it could use some advance by the way it sounds when you open the throttle; seems a little lagged. Enjoying the series, car is shaping up real nice.

    Hey Lee. I think there was a box of the self tapping nuts you need for the hood louvers in all that stuff I sent you. You also need to put the two small brackets at the rear of the hood or the brackets may vibrate and rattle. I think they are called louver hood braces. The car is looking good.

    Can't beat a 250 for mileage and dependability in a Nova. I like how quiet it idles. I bet you could fix that window motor in the Vette. Maybe the reason for little views on that car is I think that generation were the least desirable in the Vette family. Scrapping those cars gave you a payday and some space.

    like the hood louvers but I think you made forgot about the 3M trim tape for the trim to keep the rain and other liquid out of it from placing it on the hood so the water wont go down the drill holes.

  • @88Painterman

    When I said there was 2 holes already there for the louvers, that was 2 for each louver

    Look up 250 power steering pump bracket on ebay, Jegs is selling them..

    • @clunkersandclassics
      @clunkersandclassics  2 года назад

      there's too many variations of pulleys and brackets for the 6 cylinder. I need all from the same vehicle.

    • @rickbaker7507
      @rickbaker7507 2 года назад

      @@clunkersandclassics I understand exactly what you are saying, I went through the same thing adding power steering to my 74 nova running an inline 6, I found out that if you run the style like the one on ebay it runs on the same groove as the alternator, and you need a double water pump, and alternator pulley, I bought the earlier, longer type Saginaw banjo pump and it runs on the outside grove of the crank pulley in front of the alternator. That one is harder to find ( I was lucky)... 👍

    Hey man you didn't slide the needle onto the end of the float and it's gonna be starving for gas under a load.

    Did you hook up the needle to the float?

  • @jedm1466
    @jedm1466 2 года назад +1

    Float needs to connected to needle or fuel won’t shut off and cause flooding and or leaking. I am not a painter, is there a reason you set your paint gun not to spray in a fan pattern? It looks like it sprays a circle pattern.

    • @clunkersandclassics
      @clunkersandclassics  2 года назад +1

      thick primer, cheap gun on it's last legs, it's the best pattern it gets. Float works good now, no leaking or flooding

  • @jonboy9912

    I'm no expert but shouldn't you start all resprays on the roof and work your way down laterally to avoid overspray below?

    • @clunkersandclassics
      @clunkersandclassics  2 года назад

      I haven't started the respray yet. Spraying primer doesn't matter since it gets sanded anyway.
