  • Mastering Capoeira 1. Conditioning (2 of 4)
This movie was filmed back in 1989. This is not a style of capoeira played today. Their conditioning could be used. You can also get an idea on how some movements are made, and how to use them with ginga. I posted this video merely as a reference to how it all looked some time ago. It's a capoeira history, it's a history of its teaching. Their style isn't bad, but it's old-fashioned.

    good vids
my tae kwon do teacher always warned us never to bounce when stretching, apparently it tears muscle tissue and can be extremly dangerous if u was to tear a muscle while in full stretch

Never tried martial arts, but I really wanna learn this style. Theyres no school around where im located. So these videos are all i got haha. Any scheduling tips?

@nickmah I disagree. I think the flexibility is playing a big part of capoeira

You want to hold the stretch as long as u can until it warms and loosens the muscle in order to gain the flexibility. My best advice is to start of slowly and then pace yourself. These guys are horrendous from the way they are stretching and warming up. Just remember if u want to do Ballistic stretching, you would have to do active and static stretching just to warm yourself up otherwise you can end up in serious pain. Good luck.

Yeah, I don't really like this type of stretching either. It closes off my muscles and tendons memory and that is not what I want. I can see it working for some people, however.

Responding to ur question I'd say don't do any of wht those guys are doing on the video. They are using ballistic method for stretching and it seriously can damage yr muscle fibers.

Do any stretches you know I would recommend hip stretches and ginga 10 minutes a day so you can have a strong ginga when you start

Capoeira does depend on flexibility but you don't have to do the splits or turn your self into a fucking pretzel or shove your head up your ass to do any of the practical moves.
