I don't think this has enough love and attention. classical saxophone is so beautiful, but rarely anyone even knows it exists, much less appreciates it.
Because classical saxophone repertoire is mostly contemporary stuff that nobody wants to listen to. Of course it's not bad when it's composed by Piazzola.
I personally think this is a great way to describe Classical Saxophone, having students (like me) listen to this is a great way to help them understand a good idea of what the should try to sound like and work towards as a classical saxophonist. I’ve been working on my Classical tone because I’m literally capable of playing with a Jazz Style on my classical mouthpiece it’s not even funny, it’s good for Jazz but now I sound really bad in classical. My music teacher asked me to listen to things like these to get a good idea of things.
This is the first solo classical saxophone performance I could find on the internet and I'm honestly loving it. Dude, you are amazing! keep up the good work!
I love your roundness of your tone and how it is just as good when your playing in PP and how consistent it is the light the whole range of the horn Currently learning this piece
in 8th grade but im learning this piece because my sax professor at sfa played this last year and played tango etude no 2 for us this year. He brought out a bass sax but we didn't get to play it☹️
Thank you for your comment! I use Yamaha YAS-875 Gold Plated + V1 Gold Plated Neck, Selmer S90-180 mouthpiece, Ishimori Woodstone GP Ligature, D'addario Reserve 3.0+ Reed.
I like how most of the comments forget that the saxophone was made for classical music, the inventor did try to sell it as being able to play everything, and with the whole old conspiracy to keep it out of the symphony(super interesting story, look it up), but its true calling was the grand stage of classical.
Hi, Sir. May you make a tutorial about how to play altissimo? I'm a high school student from Malaysia and preparing this piece for my examination. I having problem with getting out the altissimo range😬Thank you~~~
On a classical mouthpiece the tip is usually more straight while on a jazz mouthpiece it's slightly more up kinda making the opening larger (idk if this is making sense) but yes jazz mouthpieces change your entire tone.
Yoo gotta bring some non formal wording into this comment section. So, bro, gotta say that this was a gamer pog proformance you done diddly be mading. I understand the sentence doesn't make sense, though that is the point.
Do more overtone practices, you can start with using the neck only and try to capture three overtones ranges. And then you can try exercise like playing octave C major without using octave key, playing overtones using low Bb key etc. After you are more familiar with overtones, that means your embouchure and tongue position is better, and altissimo will sound better

@@baguettedepain3975 debatable, but i'm glad you like at least one type of classical saxophone!
@@3ormoreletters Still eh to me. The sound is too meager imo. They should try to keep same style with a bit less vibrato and a thicker sound.

I usually listen to Jazz saxophonists, but today I discovered something new. The tone is so bright and beautiful, and yet still powerful.

Does anyone know where you can find the sheet music for this? Because I can't find any sources to purchase from.
If you are in the U.S, you can purchase it here: www.grothmusic.com/p-33999-tango-etudes-sax-or-clarinet-and-piano.aspx
I like your version. This is the best.

That was an altissimo A alright 1:23.
Amazing~~!!
What is the difference between a jazz mouthpiece and a classical mouthpiece and how to tell the difference? Edit: does it even make a difference?
