Same build for me, 'cept reload in slot 6 and Halsey is trained for my DM. Ship still does work being in random, ranked, and even clan battles. Love going nose to nose with any other cruiser and depriving them of their turrets... Many a moskva have lost both their front guns to the Des Moines.😂
Now we also need a look at the Zao, for me she still is one of the most fun cruisers . Sneaking up on people and catching their broadsides or nuking unsuspecting DDs is something she still is good at, you also can stealth torp so easy it makes it makes the torpedo angles irrelivant. Still her armor and turret angles need some buffs, not massive buffs but making it more comfortable to play.
The biggest challenge of the OG heavy cruisers is the abundance of ships with over 406mm, the amount of 457mm alone is stupid. Autobounce used to be a very viable survivability tool.
I keep saying two of the easiest buffs they could do is buff Zao’s deck armor to match Atago (so 41mm instead of 32mm) and improve the torpedo launcher angles another 15-20 degrees forward on either side.
Unless there’s a “communication issue” again, none of the changes will make much difference based on what they said. Unicums will be even more powerful and the normies will be slightly less annoying.
Both the Gearing and the Des Moines are still two of my favorites from back in the day even though they have been power crept. Played intelligently they can still do great work!
According to Wows players in their totality every single ship in the game has been 'powercrept'. I'm beginning to think it's just code for 'not the latest premium with a gimmick' @@repo8519
This was the second line I got to tier X way back in the day. I mis the days when it took a really good cv player to dislodge you from an aggressive position and now days it is just a snowflake ship like the Mino. My Des Moines is still set up for dpm but the ship I palay now is the Salem with range mod. It still gives you the opportunity to set up in an aggressive position but also allows you to play ranged if needed. (also tend to take hydro over radar with the Salem) I know a lot of people say Des Moin is better than Salem, but my opinion differs as aggressive positions are so limited in today's gameplay. The bad AA of Salem does not matter because AA does not matter and the amount of damage you take from AP bombs and rockets is just insane. (all these AA cruisers have been really limited in current cv play)
I remeber before WG lowered all the citadels on BBs you could just tear them apart if you caught them broadside at close ranges... those were the days man
question on the spotting mechanic: what happens when you put a legendary commander on the ship? Due to the admiral flag, the ship gets sometimes another - and most often - a new highest point of the ship.
Any chance do you plan to put out a Stord 43’ review? I’m debating on getting the upgrade for the battlepass and not sure if that DD is any good or not.
You brought up the leg mod. The leg mod gives +50% time taken to reach full engine power when accelerating. Well if you have Prop mod which gives the same +50%, these two combined should mean the moment you w you will be instantly at 100% power??
DM related question, PQ. I know you've mentioned in the past that DM's unique mod feels a bit outdated with the long-range direction the meta took but I can't find myself willing to give up the mobility. Just wondering if your thoughts have changed on it. Edit: I wrote this when the battle ended and not when the video ended... I would be interested to see some experimentation with the unique mod, especially when being able to possible juke or maneuver around carrier drops would help, maybe even with possibly dodging sub torps homing in.
I used to run legmod as well. The long range passive meta also forced me to switch to rangemod. But I was able to make it work. Your extra range allows you to use islands further back and reduce your chances of getting devstruck at closer ranges.
Yes and no. Most of the time, the highest point on a ship is located in the middle. But some ships, particularly Destoyers, have their highest points near the front. See the German line, their masts are located very frontish.
Quero aprender a jogar assim com Bufallo! Mas ainda careço de conhecimento e estou estudando os navios que tenho para jogar de um modo correto com eles e ter resultados expressivos de 150k dano! E Claro sobreviver e ganhar as partidas!
Ohh PQ come on that conquerer gave you that game.....when he backed up 😅....twice 😆 , add a lucky window for a yolo cit and the unmarked "Stalinsad" poppin in made this video waaay to good not to post!
One of the most boring replays ive ever seen. I dont think playing this position is a good idea in general. Once your hydro is gone youre so easy to be rushed by a dd from the rear.

The tip about the highest point on your ship
was very helpful
TY very much

@@sLim88CPC now you have to dodge and pray...
Zao still at least is quite good at dodging and kiting away.

@@Verdha603 thats legit making her a viable ship again
I would also take even more turret traverse. Make it more viable for open water gunboating

I'm just waiting for the CV changes so that I can play my DM again.
It’s still just as good as it always has been

I'll believe in the CV changes when I actually see them.
As an every-class-except-subs player i find the next patch is kinda interesting, hopefully it would not disappoint us

I might be objectively wrong here but desmo has hardly been power crept she is still top 5 cruisers

Really need this vid to help me to get better at playing this ship, i do agree that this ship is a bit tricky to play but it still fun. Thanks PQ❤️
I once played Jinan in that exact position and it was bloody amazing
See this is what I need when I play... patience. The opportunities will come, the damage will come...

I love the DM but it always seems like i get the worst possible teams so no matter how well I do, it's not good enough.

Great video, thank you!
Radar DM? Always go spotter plane, she is a strong female protagonists.
I go everything into the guns, and the high rate DPM from long range
Any chance do you plan to put out a Stord 43’ review? I’m debating on getting the upgrade for the battlepass and not sure if that DD is any good or not.
It’s not bad. I’d be interested in PQs opinion as well. I’m not much of a DD player so I’m not the best person to listen to lol.
I prefer the Yamato Amazon Position myself. But each to their own.
I push this exact same spot with me shleifen and it’s works every time 30% of the time
@PQ look at the dispersion stats in port when you have range in slot 6 vs if you don’t. Is that a new thing?

I still use the legendary mod. It's great for dodging torps when a dd tries to ambush you.
I thought its literally the middle point of your ship lengthwise that determines your spotting point? Am I totally wrong here?

I've always used the front mast.... still do. I could be wrong...
DM is my only T10 ship. Is it worth to spend my dubs to make her premium to get more resources?
No, just get a Salem if you want a resource farming DM.
Yes, if you will be playing it a ton.

Review Salem as well... that'd be great!! I just got it and...need a good guide especially post commander rework...and modern meta

Its the same game play as Des Moines....
Bro forgot his mods
A man can dream with range mod instead of reload or UU lul
Unique upgrade is all that I run
Typical T10 game which ended by one team reduced to 0 points. I wonder how much fun enemy players had playing this match?
The WG doesn’t like people pushing or brawling; you may get banned for this - be careful!
Day 4 of asking for the DD Blyska
Matches like these are what the CV and sub mains use to justify their existence. This game has so many issues
