yes i would.transalp 21 front with tubes noway,tracer 7 too little,versys 650 is for the nursing home.this is the best choise,with a nicer windscreen and an aftermaret exhaust
@@thodoris3790 My issue with the Versys (which by all means is a great bike for most people) is the engine. Terribly vibey and not at all what one can consider “fun”. 270 cranks FTW.

Versys uses the older frame and is literally 60 lbs heavier (80 lbs with the Kaw panniers). Test rode both the same day; loved the Ninja, wished the test loop was shorter with the Versys.
Drove it an hour ago,so here's my take. The windscreen is inadequate. The engine feels definitely restricted,obviously due to the stupid emmisions crusade. Other than that the bike is easy,comfortable,neutral,has enough power to pull it's weight respectably both in mountainous terrain and the highway,and it is not problematic at all in heavy traffic. Controls are easy,and the gearbox is very,very nice. A good,or rather very good commuter/allrounder.

Let us say that if you travel solo and without a ton of luggage you are OK,if you know what i mean. Anyway ,i suggest you to test drive it in a hilly,twisty terrain if possible. This makes or breaks a bike afaic.
IMO (just flapping my lips) for approximately 75% +/- of the riders out there this V-Strom 800RE (and a few other middle-weights in the marketplace) is 100% of what they "need" to enjoy riding the real roads of life. Now as for "wants", that is a different story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a VStrom 650 and took a look at the DE when it hit the dealers, I liked it but then rumours of the RE came along. I'm off to the NEC to have a look and a sit. Cruise control! I have had it in loads of cars and hardly use it, I certainly don't need it on a bike, even a bike I would use for touring.... so, can't wait to take a proper look.

Comparing middleweight motorcycles. When I bought my '23 Vstrom 650 I looked at the 800. Other than a larger motor displacement I didn't see any advantages of the 800. The 650 has a proven record for reliability and durability and loads of aftermarket parts and accessories. The 650 rideability is extraordinary for a middle weight even at highway speeds. I would give the 800 two more years of consumer feedback before giving up on the DL650. They may even put cruise control on one or the other, or both by then. Lastly in my world [ with 700cc being the upper threshold ]there is a 30% savings in insurance premiums between the two.

At 6ft, you need the Hessler HRT "bench" ...a flat 1 piece seat, designed for the ADV travellers and offroad! I build fireroad bikes,this is ideal...the happy medium between Offroad and Road
I kinna want to see this without the bestigial mini-beak. We know exactly why it doesn't have cruise: to sell DL1050s. Maybe once those run it this will get "upgraded".
I 'd say drive it and if you like it go for it. Me,i will wait for the litre strom replacement,the current is long in the tooth now. The 800 is very good but a bit uninspiring,too neutral afaic.

You do not have to wait. I will tell u it right now. Why u compare this bike to Transalp? The differences are EVIDENT. Transalp is an adventure bike. This one is just road/touring bike. 850GS is as well adventure one (more road oriented because of the weight). Tiger? Before going this option check out real fuel consumption 😊
Wish this was launched 2.5 years ago before I bought my Tiger 850 commuter bike. I think it trades serious blows with the Triumph, although it does have a few more electronic farkles like the quickshifter and 1 more rider mode (which I really don't care for when riding to work). My bike does about 350km per tank down to the last bar, with 1-2 litres to spare.
Have any Vstrom 650 riders tried this new one? My 2018 650xt was kind of a long heavy pig. Not as much fun to ride as I had anticipated when I bought it.
I don't find my 2017 XT to be too heavy at all. It's not a particularly exciting bike, but it's a great affordable choice if you can only have one machine in the stable. I don't know what's "V" in this bike. Sticking with the moniker while losing the L-twin seems a tad cringey to me.

Suzuki sat on their laurels for far too long with the V-Strom 650. I'm glad they've finally caught on even though they're a bit late to what has now become a very crowded middleweight ADV party.
Stop going on about bloody Cruise Control. People who actually buy this bike won't care. You missed the shortened wheelbase and different rake angle of the forks as well. Poor review.
When in opening you state this is a down graded DE, it places a negative perception upon th.e RE model. You communicate that very well you'd rather be on a sports bike with more than 88bhp, cruise control, adjustible suspension and a 17 inch front wheel.

How about the suspension? It's adjustable in a lot of ways, so that wouldn't cause more problems in the future after some rough use?

biggest problem with the 650 is that is looks dated and the engine on the 800 actually appears far more fuel efficient compared to the 650.
