looking to figure out how to change the esxi switch so that it matches my network, i am taking a class, so we put vmware player on our computers then using playuer install esxi hypervisor as a guest to use it as a host for two guest.. (vm inside of a vm) i can ping from my main computer to the hypervisor but its doing some kind of routing as the hypervisor is 192.168.139 address as my home network is 192.168.70 addresses i tried puttinng the hypervisor into bridge mode it grabbed a 192.168.70 ip.. but i cannot ping from my main pc but if i put it back to default 192.168.139 NAT i can ping it.. in the web client i can see the switch is 192.168.139.x but how do i tell the hypervisor to NOT do dhcp , only get an ip from my physical network , and then the guests on the hypervisor would also be getting ips from my physical network.?
Nice video, but for the newbies to VMware admin I was hoping you would explain how to run esxicli. Do you have to run it from the physical console or can you install it on a Mac or Windows or Linux machine and run if over SSH? Is there anything you have to do to configure the VMware server to be able to support it? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Mike, good question. The ESXCLI is a built-in command that is accessible by accessing the ESXi host via SSH or directly from the console. You need to enable SSH on the ESXi host before you can access the command remotely.
hello guys anyone can help? I have little home lab with ESxi8 and storage at synology nas via LUN connection , I increase LUN space for more storage, but I dont know how to inreacse it in esxi or vcenter, always get error anyone can help?
Legion, can you post your error? Extending space on a VMFS volume is generally pretty easy and uneventful. It should be able to consume the extra space without issue.
perform a rescan on the esxi hba adapter (or iscsi adapter in case of software) then Select Storage in the vSphere Client interface Right-click the datastore and select Increase Datastore Capacity select the lun and if expandable option spots yes, finish the wizard and the datastore will be expanded
you've a great male voice tone. You should try voice overs.

Great Video, looking forward for more such videos...👍
Thank you Surendra!
Where are you getting the URL and version ID for the update command? Does VMWare have this documented somewhere?

Have you tried to detach e reatach the LUN on VMware? I don't use VMware, but that makes some sense to me.
