Holy sh!t this LITERALLY was my first MP3 Player, as soon as I saw the Violin on the cover and the fact that it had magnets instantly transported me back to 2004, and it worked great until I tried plugging it into one of the schools eMacs and it died 🤣
The deteriorating rubber on that thing... Reminds me of a lot of old-ish Maseratis, every single one I've ever driven has that hairy, sticky, melty mess on the buttons and such. Gives me the heebie jeebies.
these were so cool. I remember when they came out the first time I saw them was in ads where one internet and cable company started announcing that you could buy one through them when subscribing to their internet service.
Had one of these, when I went to electricianschool we had a project to build a kit with a car that could follow a line drawn on the floor. By that time the mp3player was already ancient, so I ripped it apart and soldered it in to the car, with a speaker to the so that it could play music as it drove around the floor. It played Machinae Supremacy - Winterstorm on repeat, and had the display in the windshield.
It’s donkey singing it at that I BELIEVE I BELIEVE I BELIEVE I BELIEVE I BELIEVE it’s almost like the mo3 player was laughing before you started smashing it on the desk
Ayyy I daily drove this bad boy too, also Dick Smith branded but might have been slightly different for the NZ market because I think it had the cap like this one does instead of the retractable usb
I had an mp3 player that came in this exact box, mini disk, instruction and everything... except it looked wildly different, it was rectangular on top and circular on the bottom, with one (!) button at the bottom for eeveyrthing - play, pause, forward, back, up, down. It was a nightmare to use and I miss it so much. Oh, and it came preloaded with an Anastacia music video.
Whaaaaat? This was my first MP3 player too! I bought it from a Publix, and it was exactly* like this one. Just came in different packaging. I miss it, and I miss how that plastic felt before all of it ever made turned into goo. *It didn't fall apart at the slightest touch. In fact it never fell apart at all! I just lost it :(
I had one like this and it was awesome, cause you could also non mp3 files on it. It was my go to storage dingle dangle in school, storing both my schoolwork and music.
That was also my first one and it the box is very similar but with both the box and cd being a different colour and I think that the cd is still hanging around in my box of cd's but the player has since gone to the tip. The battery in what I thought was a monster of a player lasted nearly a week and with recharble ones with a spare in my pocket I was really happy, until I bought a very nice sony walkman that could play nearly all the audio formats and video.
I still have my first (cheap) MP3 Player. 2005/512mb I continued to use audio-tapes until 2008 😅 My first digital recorder was a 512mb "thing" made by Sony 😎
You are missing the point, Wade :) Back when we were in school, YOU did not have to afford it, YOUR PARENTS HAD TO afford it. But my parents drank and smoked too much back then, and my parents were also idiots, wasting so much money on what THEY (and my brother) wanted, without thinking about me and their future. Without them getting second and third jobs, like I do.
Man I swear everyone had a mp3 that looked the exact same as that one but no matter what you never had the same brand
🤣, so true. All powered by a single AAA!
frfr
My first player was an ipod mate!
@@TheDeepBlue563this one was the first one I had because my sis gave it to me but we lost it
I had one of those before I had an ipod nano
Oh wow I was not expecting the cinematic gritting! We were missing out big time!

*rips off the back case*
THE BACK CASE HAS FALLEN OFF
i like how everyone has gone from 128/256/512 mb to 128/256/512 gb
It's only a matter of time til we hit Yottabytes.
@@TheIrkenEmpire420 and or petabytes either that or vice versa
Oh the memories. I had the almost exact one at also 128mb. Remember converting MP3’s to lower the kbps so I could fit more tracks on that nugget.

That one that you said your friends had? I had one, in blue. Loved it to death.
I had one of these and I remember it working better than what you experienced 🤣
That's a mini-cd. Minidisk is a different format that was more of a disk in a little cartridge that you had to load into the player
It’s donkey singing it at that I BELIEVE I BELIEVE I BELIEVE I BELIEVE I BELIEVE it’s almost like the mo3 player was laughing before you started smashing it on the desk
Dude just casually whips out my first mp3 with that Creative Muuuoede or whatever it was called.
Had the 256 meg version of this thing in silver. Lasted me fine until one of the battery springs snapped after about 2 yrs.
God. Nostalgia goggles kicking in hard. My first MP3 was that exact design. Think it lasted 3 weeks before just going back to my tape Walkman.
Ayyy I daily drove this bad boy too, also Dick Smith branded but might have been slightly different for the NZ market because I think it had the cap like this one does instead of the retractable usb
I had that exact MP3 player when I was a kid!!!
i have a perfect 6th and 7th gen i was gonna send him but yay corona and no more international shipping

So much catharsis from the 1 Grit. Praise be to 1 Grit in these trying times.

1:20 i think you meant the font used in the banjo-kazooie logo
No.. you never told a soul that you had free storage space.. because the second you do.. you'll find someone who needs it or they'll die!😂
Mine was a 128mb Ministry of Sound one that came from Argos. As I recall, it was fully sick
Holy shit this is what I needed
i had a phillips one like this 128Mb had some songs, doom, quake and some jolly roger cookbook
3:08 DRAG RACER
a true classic
i wasted so many hours playing that as a kid
LOL! I still have one! Still works perfectly!
ANOTHER PATREON VIDEO! woooohoooo
Oh my god I had that player too. It was also my first and had 128MB.
Is "Now That's What I Call Shrek" a real album?
Sure is 👌
@@DankPods Totally would listen, it sounds great
BIG BOTHER
I’m one that had that same one except mine had a small red dog as it’s logo
I laughed my head off at the end haha
6:05
😂 Was that necessary? Goofball 😂
this looks a lot like my first mp3 before it got stolen
I had a 512mb player identical to that one, so chunky that we couldn’t plug it into the laptop unless it was hanging off the table.
My sisters friend had a mp3 player like that in a similar shaped box. Except its "brand name" was Sonny. Like sony with an extra n 😂
Mini disks fit on most newer dvd drives, I though you would have had an old mac with a drive.
*The dead remains of the 1TB iPod at the start*. We should celebrate the 1TB iPod on ANZAC day as well. Lest we forget.

I had both, retractable and that one, DEAR god the memories]
I also broke mine, but mine ended up being flushed after that =)
1-Grit Stress Ball!
Each time you laugh, I laughed 4 times more just to beat you.
He lost that iPod faster than John wick lost his puppy
my first mp3 player was a nexxtech pink oval thing
WHY IS THIS DESIGN EVERYWHERE
My First MP3 player too.
WAIT A MINUTE I USED TO HAVE THAT THING WTFFFFF
Pretty much looks like my first one to

Never had an MP3 player like that. I grew up on a 4th gen iPod Touch.
2nd gen and then got a 3rd few years later
