If you get hit by lightning bolt and ur not already at the very very furthest spot in its range you simply wont outrun it since it steal 60 movementspeed from you. Barb with ironwill can still be killed, blocked, crowdcontrolled etc. Rogues get counter in very many ways, we got hydras (lightning bolt too) light orbs all to check for invis. Wiz has ice shield, warlocks have phantomize (which they often still get of) Druids have dreamwalk or chicken form Barbs, fighters, bards, plate clerics all survive more than long enough on pure bulk for teammates to help or to outright fight back. And that is just IF a rogue gets to a good target without being caught or chipped. Only reason ppl moan about rogue is cuz if you lost that fight you lost it BEFORE you trade hits. Via not staying near teammates, not being aware there might be a rogue, not having a plan for it (like ice shield or dreamwalk) On the other hand lightning bolt will auto find and kill most light classes. And teleport lightning shield will just outright kill any non mdr character. And thats 2 spells, the guy has more movement, displacement and other massive dmg spells to use. Sorcerer is even more broken than peak panther and that shit was beyond wack

Day one sorc was op with the storm kill I was kill full teams with one skill that needed to be nerfed n it was by the 2nd day but druid still op till this day I play druid n get easy kills way faster than I do on sorc
@@GinLxrd I think you are both kind of right.. It is op ...the dmg is too much especially the scaling for true dmg.. But people dont realize that sorc actually needs something like that. I want the spell to keep going through walls and doors but with less dmg and less slow. Some classes just got nothing against sorc(like most classes have nothing against landmine rogue, panther druid, tm lock) but if you try to push into the lightning bolt instead of trying to stay out of range you will see that sorcs are easier to deal with. It needs a nerf but if you nerf it too much sorc is dead. I played alot of HR sorc the past days and good players counter you ez if they have HP and speed, people just dont know how to play vs sorc yet. If you eat all 5 hits from lightning bolt its a skill issue, the only way you can safely do this as sorc, is if you lighning orb/bolt at the same time and if both of those are on CD you have lost the fight usually. If it doesnt go through walls sorc is cooked aswell.. everybody can escape from a sorc.. its the slowest class with the slowest interaction speed.. Nobody complains about ranger/rogue being fast and opening doors quicker its is effectively the same thing as L bolt going through doors. And it being able to hit phantomize/dreamwalk is the most beautiful thing ever since those are some of the cheesiest uncounterable abilities/perks in the game.
The main problem with spellbook I find not so much merges, but overall losing ability to cast two spells at the same time. Dramatically increases kiting potential
That and the fact you also suffer a -10MS penalty too. I think it’s very situational; if you have the space to use a book (especially in team environments) then it’s great to take advantage of the extra damage. In a tight squeeze, use both hands. Thanks for watching 😁
It's actually more beneficial to stack additional magic damage. If you have at least 5 additional and a epic spellbok, you add 10 damage. With scaling, (50% is very achievable) thats THIRTY damage per second. That is 150 base magical damage. With apex sorcery to get to 100, thats 40 damage every second. What's 40 times 5? 200. Fair and balanced. The only counter is magic resist barb.
As Book Worm said, additional magic damage does not scale with MPB (same as true damage). True damage typically always does more because it ignores resistances
@LuckyGoober it is not useless against people with low MR like fighters, also how additional phys dmg works great against people who don't have the best PDR, true dmg usually works best only really at higher gear scores where everyone usually rocks great PDR or MR etc, you'll find additional dmg is great at lower gear score lobbies, m8ght have to give it a crack and see for yourself
Damn thanks for reminding me how ray of darkness pales in comparison to lightning bolt. 1 lightning bolt can auto track once you hit them once. 2 lightning bolt can track through walls. 3 lightning bolt slows the target down. 4 lightning bolt has 10damage(100% scaling) while ray of darkness has 12damage(100%scaling) I'll take lightning bolt anytime anyday anywhere

They deal the same magic damage now, they changed this at some point last wipe. The only real reason you’d run a staff now is if you plan on bonking with it like Cleric Smite and Wizard Staff Mastery.
It depends on the spell and its description. For example, the DOT from curse of pain has the true damage added to the total and that damage is split over a duration. The damage for Lightning Bolt is per second, so the true damage is added per second and split over the 0.1s ticks; as the spell channels for 5s, you get the true damage for each second. Hope that makes sense 😅

I hope they nerf lighrning bolt but buff some of the other spells, in particular you're only using 2 merged spells 99% of the time and merging is one of the coolest features of the class.
Maybe I am in the minority here but I dont really have issues with sorc. Havent had any issues against sorc as warlock, druid, barb, or wizard. So long as you dont get hit by electric dash and elemental bolt the class is pretty easy to kill.
I tend to agree with you bro, I just think people need time to learn how the class works rather than calling it OP (although I do think lightning bolt probably shouldn’t go through terrain). The best way to learn the class’s weakness is by playing it and I imagine most people don’t want to learn it with how complicated it is to pilot 😂
I think the proper path to nerf the lightning would be first remove the ability to go through obstacles. If still too strong, then remove the lock on. If then too strong, they can go into nerfing damage. At least that's how I feel it could work. If only Warlock's Ray of Darkness had the same fear inducing power
20% slow is far too much, sorc has just about everything. Several displacement, unstant cast blocking of doorways (not even killable or phantomable) It has movement skills including a teleport and fire arrow can deal upwards of 90 base dmg before power bonus.
Sorcerer spells should be stronger singular spells (and merged) than any other class. Most spells are 38 second cd on 99% of builds, and building 35 resource only brings that down to ~25s. Fighters have sprint on the same cooldown, being able to MS cap in full plate gear, barbs the same with roar and 200+ HP Can't balance and treat sorc like a wizard or warlock, because the cooldown on spells make them fundamentally just different. A singular fireball can hit as hard as that 38 second CD lightning bolt and wizards have 6

Warlock has been tough this season with the new MDR curve and lack of any updates. I’ve played some but nowhere near as much as Sorc, it’s just so much more fun to deal damage with more than 2 spells 😂🥲

Sure, you can get the bonus dmg of the book with lightning bolt... Or you could just cast 3 or 4 spells simultaneously on left hand for more dps and controll
I hear where you’re coming from but I think it’s situational. I think cases where you’re close-up to somebody you’re completely right; being able to cast a wind blast with another spell to keep someone off you is great for DPS and kiting. However if you have space between your target, using a book when you already have good gear makes a crazy difference to your damage. Thanks for watching 😊
Outside of Lightning Bolt travelling through walls, I actually think Sorc is pretty balanced right now. Incredibly hard to play but highly rewarding for those who put in the time!
I use it mainly for Electric Dash/Melee focussed builds too! I just wanted to make a video showcasing how stupid the spell is so it hopefully gets some adjustments 🙏

Yea I don’t think it is either. The lightning would be doing the swirly thing if it is plus you have to hit them before they go into cover
I realised whilst editing that it didn’t actually do any damage. I believe it has to lock onto them initially for it to track through obstacles.
Running mana fold makes lightning bolt last longer
But it also makes you 5% slower, I personally don’t think it’s worth the trade off 😅

The reason sorc is good is cc, not dmg
Sure, you can get the bonus dmg of the book with lightning bolt... Or you could just cast 3 or 4 spells simultaneously on left hand for more dps and controll
I hear where you’re coming from but I think it’s situational.
I think cases where you’re close-up to somebody you’re completely right; being able to cast a wind blast with another spell to keep someone off you is great for DPS and kiting.
However if you have space between your target, using a book when you already have good gear makes a crazy difference to your damage.

Outside of Lightning Bolt travelling through walls, I actually think Sorc is pretty balanced right now. Incredibly hard to play but highly rewarding for those who put in the time!
I've literally stopped using Lightning Bolt against other players because it's not fun. I keep it for Electric Dash and PvE, but that's it.
I use it mainly for Electric Dash/Melee focussed builds too! I just wanted to make a video showcasing how stupid the spell is so it hopefully gets some adjustments 🙏

@@JarPapa no worst season for me. despite all the questionable things IM has done, there's always something new. multiclassing was def rough if you had bad RNG. all though iron will crossbow mastery fighter was cracked.

No I haven’t! I saw jooyae has been rocking insanely high HP builds and just going full kamikaze mode, looks like great fun 😂 I definitely need to try!
