writing this exam 18th Dec 2023. thanks for the suggestion. Edit this is 19th of December 2023. I successfully passed the exam thanks the advise i got from this video. I'm much grateful for the RUclips channel he mentioned really helped on God. I did the online training but Mr. Prabh Nairs videos was gosh the best
I passed it after studying two weeks. The biggest thing is that there's a significant gap between the study materials and actual exam. I consider it an exam that takes the theory and brings it into real life. In order to pass the exam, you're going to have to know how protocols, access controls, ports are related to the CIA triad. Know your ports, know your protocols. Know the types of access controls (RBAC, DAC, MAC), physical vs logical access controls. Know the ISC2 ethics. One thing that wasn't brought out in the video is that there are 25 seeded questions in the 100. You don't know which ones they are and they can throw you off and reduce your confidence a bit. You just have to be persistent and believe. Also, I think there's a correlation to how well you do on the initial assessment and passing the actual exam. If you get 80% or above on the initial assessment, YOU ARE GOING TO PASS THE REAL EXAM. Even though the questions are phrased differently.
Thanks for the video and suggestions. Recently took the official exam and passed! I used the ISC2 self paced course and Prabh Nairs series of videos and passed. You are right that the test questions are harder than the self paced course content.
I took and passed the practice test twice (92% & 88%) but did not fair as well on the actual exam. The questions on the actual exam were WAY different (more difficult) from the questions in the practice test to the point where it seemed like I went into it blind and hadn't studied at all. My recommendation is to most definitely find an additional source to study from before sitting for it because the study materials and test exercises from the ISC2 aren't sufficient IMO.
Thanks for this info. I'd passed Sec+ years ago but decided to take this because it was free and a good refresher. On the pre-test I got a 92% as some of the terminology tripped me up. I've got a week to study for the exam but I'm feeling pretty good about it and I think the info you shared will help, thanks!
I just passed the test. I did the practice self study in isc2 and thats about it. Most of my knowledge came from professional experience and it definitely adds to your knowledge base. If you are a new professional or fresh into the industry or yet to be, I would say study more than the isc2 training and more practice tests.
Passed it today. The actual exam was waaaaaaay harder than the practice exam, where i scored 99/100. Also, the wording of the exam questions is not always easy to understand if English is not your first language.
Wow I'm just glad I came across your channel yesterday and now this video...this is very helpful because I'll be taking mine by next month hopefully and uhmm few people have said not to rely on just the ISC2 materials but to outsource more materials in order to pass the exam and with these tips you've laid out and my dedication I believe I'll make it through the exam.

NOTE: You do NOT need an endorsement for this certification! Repeat, all you need is to pass the exam, fill out a very short application and pay a 50 dollar membership fee. BTW, don't take this exam lightly. The pass rate is actually a little above 50%. If you don't have a security background, you're going to find the wording of the questions to be difficult. But all of the ISC2 exams are like this so this gives you a gentle environment to become attuned to the ISC2 testing strategy. I'll give you a good resource, probably the best resource on this exam. Mike Chapple, he has a book as well as a LinkedIn Learning course. Look at his Exam Hints, they are helpful but even then you're going to have to think out of the box on these concepts. @@bolarinwastephen Actually you do NOT need a reference from another ISC2 member to vouch for your job experience for this cert. This particular cert does not have an experience requirement.

Hi Caleb! I registered for the exam with a free voucher. My exam is in a month and i am a newbie in cybersecurity space. i don't know if there is actually a free material for the course cos i have been trying to navigate through the website to get it dso i can study. Must i be a member to access the free study material on their website? if not can you help me with the link? my bad
or how do i get the material please?
Hi, did you manage to get onto the online course in the end? I assume you set up a profile on the ISC2 website to be able to go through to sign up for the exam? I completed the course a couple of weeks ago so might be able to help if you're struggling still?
i am still struggling bro. i honestly need help in getting the needed materials to pass the exam. if you can assist me i will really be grateful. i was trying to get through it but they said the course is $19 which is quite alot for me right now. or am i mistaken?

@@mn9ajas i am struggling with it bro. please assist me. i didn't get it. i had given up already. thank God i got your response. i have 25 days left to study. ...and yes i already set up a profile. i think they said the material is 19usd or am i wrong?
@@womilojuoluwasegun2094 no problem. I'll try my best to help.
When you sign into ISC2 you should see your name at the top right of the webpage, if logging in via a computer.
If you're signing in on a phone (possibly tablet as well) you have to go to the two lines at the top right and open up the menu list. Scroll all the way to the bottom and you should see your name there.
Either way, once you click on your name you should be able to go to 'my courses' and the online self paced training option should be there.
Let me know if you have any luck?
Also, is the 19usd not for the e-textbook which you can buy?
Hi! Do you know if we have to pay the annual fee every year to keep the certification?
