I just bought a pair blindly off REI, only based on helpful reviews like yours. Unfortunately all black for the cheapest price. I went a size up and wide and it's really interesting how the heel does lock into place and the wide really only applies to the toe box. I've only been on a few short walks so far but I love them.
Hi All, I did Burgos to Leon with Salomon XA pro 3D, these shoes did not work for me , they got broken. Salomon is not answering any support request. :-(
Update: not easy to get in touch with Salomon, phone is the best. They provided me a reimbursement equals to the web cost of the shoes. Less than what I ve payed but fair enough . Now I m looking for a different model of Salomon shoes for my next Camino tour.
1st i didn't watch till goretex information, and bought..when i watched info just fixed my order because i ordered non goretex one 1st..i bought one..hope to works well because La sportava boots killed my feet plus got pain my knee area too..
@@AdventureRig i got boots one and will try how works..but thinking get shoes type too..La sportiva just hurt my ankle and that made knee pain when i was coming down from high elevation..and under feet La sportiva not comfortable feeling..
Great review... I think i am going to try them as I am looking for a shoe than can be versatile for walking/hiking/gym/dress. I will definitely get the black because this will be the only shoes i will bring with me as I backpack Spain /Portugal. This seems like it has the quality/durability/flexibility for my needs. Thanks for the info!
Thanks for the review. I bought it last week, tried for trail running, it looks durable and good for tracking but feeling not quite comfortable on my heels and does not bend much to the middle as it got hard soles
I think they'd be great for that. If there is standing water anywhere I'd try to not get them wet as they will take a little while to dry out (as any shoe will).
Bought these online cause I had already tried them in the past when I used to sell them. Knew they were a great model from what I was taught by the store and the customers.
The xa pro 3d is the only shoe, out of every shoe i looked at that ill run on the only treadmill ill ever run on the assault airrunner pro. Im not sold on any of the road running shoes due to the fact they absorb the shock of each step theough my leg instead of terminating the shock st the sole which the xa pro 3d does. I have great eunning experiences with this shoe.
Salomon trail shoes are great. On my 5th pair now, I would be very reluctant to get anything else. Very, very comfortable, although I prefer the Salomon Ultra X for comfort which looks very similar. I've done about 3,000,000 steps in my last pair walking, hiking and climbing and only now are they wearing out. They nearly always wear out from the inside, usually at the heel, the Vibram sole and outside of the shoe are tough. I love the lace up system but one note of caution, I washed my shoes in the washing machine and the quick tie mechanism got cracked and then broke soon after. There is a little pouch you can tuck it into and I didn't so if you are going to wash them in the machine make sure the quick tie mechanism isn't getting thrown about during the cycle! Another minor issue is if you want dry feet you are better wearing boots. They are dry weather shoes. My pair aren't really waterproof although they do dry out very quickly. I've literally had my shoe fully submerged and they have dried out in maybe 15-20 minutes during the walk. In that sense I'd say they are fine for crossing streams or water obstacles but you wouldn't want to wear them in persistent heavy rain (and I live in Scotland!) as heavy rain goes straight through the mesh material. I should say I don't run in them but use them as a general walking around shoe and to do medium distance walking, light hiking and climbing. If I'm carrying a heavy back pack or walking in really rough terrain (off path say, on boulder fields or rough moorland) I always prefer the ankle support of a proper hiking boot but for day hikes and walks they are excellent.
Hey just found your channel. Loving the content so far. Do you have a video talking about the Italy van trip ? I would love to get some info since I'm planning one myself.
I thought this was one of the most uncomfortable shoe I've ever tried on. Wow. Such a weird feeling around the ankle, it pushes up on the ankles from underneath... also the weird lacing system... made the tongue extremely fat and stick out
@@AdventureRig I'm going to try a larger size, I hear they run small. I hear nothing but extremely positive things about the shoe. Thanks for the review
You're right it is designed to be breathable. However it will never be as breathable as something that is not Gore-Tex. It makes perfect sense if you do your homework on Gore-Tex and fabrics.
@@AdventureRig I own the GoreTex hiking version and wear it all summer, it breaths extremely well. The only difference is the price, Goretex is extra $$
@@SmartSmella578 I suppose it breaths if you don't have hot feet. If I wore Gore-Tex shoes in the summer it would be a swamp inside. There's no denying that Gore-Tex is going to be hotter and not breath as well.
@@AdventureRig I have famously hot feet, and they breath better than any pair of shoes I own. No one in any review I've read about them has ever had a problem with the breathability factor.
@@SmartSmella578 Your original comment was that "Opting for non-Gortex for breathability makes no sense as Gortex is designed to be a breathable water-proof fabric." What I'm saying is that non Gore-Tex is going to be more breathable. If you find the Gore-Tex version is not hot that's great. However saying that Gore-Tex is just as breathable as non Gore-Tex is not true.

would you reccomdnd true to size or going a size up like you did
The beanie and sunglasses kinda helped sell it for me :) thanks for the review budday. I enjoyed it!

Hello and great review! I'm wondering how flexible/comfortable the shoe is at the tiptoe since it has that 3D chassis? Thanks!
Hi Dorain and thank you for watching. In my opinion it is still flexible and I never thought the shoe was overly stiff.
Oh wow you walked in airports in a trail running shoe. Thanks for the review.
