I have been to the Wieliczka salt mine during my Erasmus project and it was an incredible experience, I couldn't believe what I was seeing, especially the underground chapel, stunning and the funny moments I had when going down the 300 and more steps(I thought they were never going to end hahaha)I and when taking the lift back to the top (there was no light). You both are amazing, this vlog is awesome, and it has brought to my mind a lot memories, of these wonderful journey I have had with my friends, thank you and there is still more to see!!! like in Rzeszów there are underground tunnels that were used during the periods of war, for protection and etc, but I don't want to say much enjoy and have fun, Poland is wonderful ❤️😊
Never heard of this incredible place...but thanks to you both I'll definitely visit if I get make my way to Poland. The Holy Chapel was out of this world. So many hidden gems to be found in the world😉😉😉
I live in Wieliczka my whole life, so I could see how Salt Mine was changing. Few years ago it wasn't that safe and also there were more places where we could go. Of course it also works in opposit way - there are so many new things! Glad to see that people from other countries could fall in love with this stunning place as much as we did :D
I'm not big fan of any stuff like this but I actually enjoyed this tour when I was there. It was a beautiful sight from just salt. I'm amazed sometimes with what humans and nature can create together.
I'd already pre-booked a tour of this place for when I'm in Krakow on the 27th. Really happy you were able to show me a highres sneak peak of what its like.
Thank you for the trip back in time. It's been a while since my last trip. I was lucky to have visited the amazing site 3 times in the last few years... once with an inbound group visiting from the US. The mines are a pleasant way to spend the day and distract from some of the sad places we had on the itinerary.
Its absolutely amazing. When I was 12 I slept in salt mine on a school trip to Bochnia which is around 30min drive away from Wieliczka, that was awesome!
One thing worth mentioning to people is the "dress code" when you go down there. Even if it's a typical scorching polish summer on the surface the tour takes about 2 hours and it is COLD there so keep warm folks.
Guys, try and check out the Tatras, even if for a day, I am sure you will love it. Just avoid the route to Morskie Oko on a Sunday, and probably the Dolina Chocholowska and Koscieliska routes too if you want a less crowded experience :) You can simply hike to one of the shelters for a non-exposed, beautiful hike rewarded by awesome views. No need to climb massive peaks if you don't feel like it :) (and I wouldn't recommend hitting any of the highest peaks if you're not comfortable and don't have proper shoes/equipment)
I remember visiting there. So awesome to see and experience. The chapel is just so extraordinary as its all made of salt. The Princess he mentioned was called Kinga, which was my ex's name too. Im glad you guys enjoyed it as i did.
I am so happy to see people from abroad adventuring my country - Poland. Best regards to you guys, doing great job venturing Cracow and surroundings. I love watching you and hearing about your experience, from tourist point of view!!! You should go to Zakopane!
Was there once at business party. You stay sober until you reach the surface :). I am glad you enjoyed it. There are still few nice places around Cracow and many more in Poland. Enjoy!
What a fascinating place - brilliantly captured and explained. The way you presented this moved my interest in the idea of visiting the mine from a just passing one to something I would not miss if I visited Krakow. That shows how good you guys are at drawing your viewers into your experiences. :)
Love it - that's pretty powerful if it's true, Rex. As always we massively appreciate your insight, hope you do get to visit Krakow, genuinely one of our fav places so far.
Really like watching your videos. You, Guys seem to be really interested and involved in places you visit, what is trully valuable. Good luck with another trips and thank you for your great work!
My mother visited Sri Lanka about 5 years ago and she loved it :) Esp all the greenery around and all those beautiful buddism sanctuaries, and she enjoyed the meeting of such calm, peaceful people. And also she loved the elephants. She was fan of elephants and considered them very inteligent animals. Warm wishes from Poland toward your nation :)
@Travel With Mansoureh - this one no longer excavates salt (aside converting salty water into it) and some part of it was (small part of it!) converted into sorts of huge museum. Aside Wieliczka, there is plenty of old mines in Poland that public can visit, coal mine in Zabrze, silver mine in Tarnowskie Góry, salt mine in Bochnia and even old Uranium mine in Kletno are only few to mention.
@@crazyfrytka Fascinating. I am from South Africa originally, now living in UK. I lived in Johannesburg, a city built on gold mining. Huge mine dumps and all the old head gear can be seen all around the city. I would absolutely love to visit the gold mines and salt mines in Poland and see what they are like and learn about their history!! ☺☺👍👍
Hi. I was living in Poland for about 23 years, now I am 38 years old and never have been in Wieliczka before I just have heard about this place. We went there 2 weeks ago and I can say...amazing place!!! I didnt know that Wieliczka mine is so beautiful. Some people told me Bochnia mine (not far away) is even more beautiful.
I am not sure if you were told about one thing. It is possible to have a party down there, such as wedding receptions. I've been in both Wieliczka and Bochnia and we could party in one spacious room and sleep in another one. As I remember there was even a cinema down there and a sort of sports hall where we could play basketball or volleyball.
I'm from Poland but last time I was in Wieliczka 10 years ago. Nice to see this place again, from the perspective of someone from another country. Thank you and from today, I am becoming your regular viewer. 😀 Regards 😊
This is so awesome! My boyfriend and me were at this mine in January, went to Krakow to celebrate New Year. Such an amazing city, beautiful experience. I would definitely love to go there again! Btw we had the same tour guide :D
My son and I were there this last September, it’s amazing. Took us 3 hours to get through it which was really hard for me seeing that I had a fractured hip and surgery a month or so before being there. Our guide said that I shouldn’t go through it because of that. But I’m stubborn and actually finished the whole thing. Would love to go back again.
It's huge tourist attraction with millions of tourists passing every year, so yea of course it is :) Visit mine's website they posted, all details are there. Although they went on some sort of special tour, usually there is around 15-20 people in one group.
Expect a lot of children there lol at least when u go during the school year. Its a very popular destination for trips. I think my school took me there 4 times LOL
This video was so cute! I'm working on a project for a salt shed in architecture school and I'm trying to learn a bit more about the history of salt. The my friend comes over and he's like yeah that's where my dad is from Wieliczka! Im like whaaaaaaa! Anyway thanks fotr the video super lovely :)
So interesting I've seen that place on tv but you guy captured the experience of being really there nice job.And if you ever want to see an abandon gold mine in Colorado i got your backs on that.

Thanks for the video upload. I was doubting visiting (claustaphobic) But looked fine. The lift to the surface looks like you can only get 2 or 3 people in. How long are you in the lift for and is there a light? This is the only thing stopping me wanting to visi now. Appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Wieliczka Mine is the ONLY such a place in the ENTIRE World.
what do you mean?
You should see Salt Mine in Bochnia.
lots of salt mines in Germany

I was there when I was six. It was so beautiful. I’m dying to go again.
😂😂😂OMG reminiscing that heart pounding going down stairs! One of the best tourist attraction i've been!
Poland was a very rich country back in the day thanks to the massive amounts of salt in some regions. Salt was very precious as it preserved food.
Love from Sri Lanka
Thanks! Hoping to visit your country within the next year :)
That's a great idea! I'm sure you'll have so much fun :)

At a time, 1/4 of Polish Kingdom income was made by Wieliczka salt mine and neighbour mines.

Had to look this up went here as a kid with my mom ... well covered just like I remembered
Glad we could remind you of it!
So many steps down! Glad you didn't have to go back up them. I had never heard of the salt mine... really impressive.

Actually in Poland throwing a coin into a fountain/water reservoir means only one thing - being lucky enough to come back to the same location one day. We make our lucky wish upon the falling star or when we guess on which cheek an eylash had fallen (when someone spots the eyelash on your cheek they will jusk ask "which cheek", if you guess you're entitled to make a wish).
We didnt know that, now we do!
Fantastic just bought ticket to Cracow
You're gonna love it - such an epic city
My friend: you can't leave Krakow without visiting the salt mine!
Me: a salt mine, really?
Also me after visiting the mine: waddahell !💙
