I have an 04 4.7HO on a 4" lift. Ive towed parts vehicles on a trailer, 1/2 cord of firewood, my small tractor, etc. Its my workhorse as well and has no trouble up to 4000lbs or so even at highway speeds. I have a brake controller that is sitting on the bench thats going on soon too. Just finished burning on frame stiffeners that made a huge difference in the handling of the Jeep. Same brake setup as yours. I'd also like to upgrade my rear swaybar in the future to help with towing. The dumbest thing I've seen someone tow with one was a guy I know had one on a 6" Clayton long arm kit and would routinely tow 2 cords (4tons) of firewood on a tandem dump trailer around town at low speeds. It looked sketchy as heck, but it worked.
Wow that’s crazy the v8 deff helps a lot I wouldn’t be able to do that with the 6 comfortably it will tow a car I’m sure but I’d deff want a brake controller for sure
This makes me feel better. I have a lifted ‘99 WJ and have wondered about towing a trailer. It’s got a 4” rough country with adjustable short arms all the way around. I upgrade all the brake lines/hoses/brakes. I have stock gears but it’s got a 4.7L so I think it should do alright. You aren’t lying about that gas mileage man… mines a thirsty b****. I swapped in a 242 which has got me a couple more mpg
I have a 2004 Overland edition with the 4.7 HO on a 4 inch lift and 35s. When i had a 2 inch lift and 33s i towed another wj on a uhaul dolly for over 250 miles. I was doing 70 in the highway without a problem. The cobine waight was over 5k pounds and i had and still have stock gears 3.73. Further more i was on 2wd due to a bad 247 transfer case. This jeeps are amazing!!
Well ya it's a SUV with a 5k towing capacity 😆......I have a 2000 grand Cherokee with a 4 inch lift and I tow my 15 foot camper up in the mountains here in Colorado every year
I have an 01 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0. just put a 2.5 inch Rusty's lift kit on it. IDK what size tires I need. I put an Amazon tow hitch and pulled the wiring harness from a wrecking yard Jeep. Trying to tow a 3500 pound camper trailer with it. Haven't had a chance to really test it out yet.
I have the 4.0 and I haul my 52" zero turn mower all summer on a 5.5ft x 9ft trailer. I also haul firewood with it and I load the bitch down lol. It'll pull everything I've put behind it.
I vouch for that 6 cyl Dilan...I had the 6 HO and I think it had the same set of ball's as my 4.7 HO...and more torque for sure...now... I've done some upgrades and even though I'm not planning on towing, I installed Monroe coil over on the rear and two airlift 1000 bags inside the coils front & rear at 25 psi just to help with the sway...and it has helped a lot...but the real reason why people do this upgrade is for towing...is a bit stiff in my case bc I have them on the front too with new Bilstein...buy hey...this is not a socker moms SUV anymore... your's is looking great!
Nice man I highly recommend addco rear sway bar if you don’t already have one it will help the sway a lot! And I think mainly the 4.0 makes it’s tq right off idle as the 4.7 you kinda gotta rev it up to be in power band
My 2004 Freedom Edition 4.0 4x4 has 3.73s and 31s otherwise 100% stock. I get 18-20+ MPG all day every day. Your biggest mpg sucker is the 4.56 I think.. Weight and lift don't help. Hey did you ever tow that Mustang? On a trailer ? How far?
I have not towed the mustang yet when I do go to tow it it’s gonna be for half hour at a time to track but I’m currently in the process of putting a gt35 on this jeep so we shall see how it does
It’s just a bull bar it’s from eBay it comes with all the brackets and everything it bolts to wear the sway bar bolts to there are already holes in the frame for the bolts only thing I do not like about it is the brackets hang down pretty low so ground clearance definitely suffers
So it’s not on eBay anymore but I was able to find a link to it here it is www.napaonline.com/accessories/black-horse-bull-bar/27cac55e?cid=paidsearch_shopping_dcoe_google&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkdnn8_Hj-gIVEcDICh0E8QVdEAQYCCABEgKbxPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

A friend of mine just passed away and he left me his Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. It’s a 2000 and fully stock but he kept up on the maintenance and it’s white. I do plan to paint it black an upgrade it because I do want to do off roading with it with friends of mine who do off roading for fun. It has 251k miles but it drives great. Yea with the v8 you will for sure be good and yea they like to suck down gas for sure lol especially when lifted

Should be able to do it only one way to find out! Nice Rusty’s makes good stuff!
I have an 04 jeep 4.0. The piston rings are worn out but the max I’ve towed with it was 3000 pounds. It’s slow but gets the job done
Yea for sure and it will prob run like that for a long time lol
Ring n Pinion for the tire size you'll be running helps your petro, believe it or not:)
