The JSDF was established under the name Self-Defence Force as the de-facto military because the US pressure for the huge and costly budget to defend the country when the US Force in Japan main job was to monitor China and N.Korea, the US also need Japan to militarize again as US allied against what they called the possible threat to US.

They should have made it 100 feet longer. As they are just now realizing. You can't land like a conventional Aircraft. Unless the fuel load is depleted to 90% and still stop in time. As they only have a single access landing zone...So you can't have any planes on deck..They have to be stored below....Japanese Izumo has the same short fall.. But combined with the United States Fleet. These would be devastating. As Jeep Carriers...Why they use the United States Burke class design for their Destroyers..And they have lots of them...

the problem is, the deck is not strong enough to stand F-15 (idk the exact type name, but pretty sure it's start with 'F') vertical take-off (from what i read) due to the jet's engine, and they doesn't implement it yet. and, they doesn't have enough recourse to make 5 of them before things on fire again.

I believe the max. is less than 25 and flight ops are best with 12-ish. But considering the F-35B's capabilities and Japan's geopolitics, it's more than enough.
Its a water tight door, each handle (called a dog) locks its corner in place so water can't leak through. Doors that see alot of use typically have one lever that connects to all the dogs, so you can move them all at once.
Its incredible how huge this ship is but it's still a baby compared to Nimitz class carriers. Anyway, I say build 10 of them my Japanese friends and buy 10 additional squadrons of F-35Bs and your help will be much needed in sinking the Chinese Navy.
I read somewhere that it is the same size (length-wise I guess) as the WW2 carrier Kaga. Which is the name of the 2nd ship in this Izumo class, if I'm not mistaken.
