Center Point has thoroughly investigated itself and found that it did nothing wrong.
IMO - Make the CP CEO take a pay cut, and a claw back concerning his golden parachute and also retirement package. That should be the case in all big businesses when management fails. Don't try to find a fall guy lower down the chain of command. When we continue to reward top executives for failure this is what we get. At a bare minimum make the CEO give updates through multiple social; media sites.
They have total immunity.
Save the money on that investigation. Your power grid was wiped out by a Cat. 1 hurricane. Invest in the power grid.
This is not a grid issue. Trees and wind took out the *powerlines* . The grid and the powerlines are two separate things. The "grid" is power plants, transmission lines, and distribution centers. The powerlines that are held up by wooden posts are a separate issue. That being said, CenterPoint was not ready. Not even close. Like you said, this was only a CAT1. I guess a CAT3 would have sent us back to the stone ages.
Really? Across the street from me are Entergy customers. They’ve had power for 3 days. We have no downed lines or visible damage anywhere around us. We have yet to see any Centerpoint employee in our area.
Been living in Houston for 17 years and I will say something fishy is going on with the leadership here every time we have disasters our officials are always playing the blame game NEVER any real accountability I think it's time for a new governor
The governor is relatively weak in Texas. He has little do do with controlling how the power flows.

@@codecaine Public utilities are regulated by public utilities commissions that operate at a variety of jurisdictional levels. Public utilities commissions will grant public utilities certain monopoly rights to facilitate servicing a given geographic area with a single system.

This is unacceptable. They all play a role in this disaster. I would lump Abbott there too. I don’t understand why we couldn’t have more than 12,000 utility workers brought to TX? Insane. Goes to show the ineptitude of this government.
The answer is easy, the trades all have a shortage of qualified competent employees. Look around unless your head is up in a dark place this is what politicians have done to America. Get used to it.
12000 utility workers. Average crew size between 3 - 5. Lets say 4. 12000 /4= 3000 crews. Were other states affected by this storm? Maybe those other utilities offer contracts with more money to provide storm restoration. Where would you send your crews? Once those other states get to a certain restored percentage, they will release their contracted companies. Will these released contractors go to Texas? Some do. Some don't. Depends on if the business manager of the contracting company can get an extension on their release from the utility they are contracted to. What is your solution to this 'unacceptable' problem?
The utility workers are sitting in their trucks clocking overtime. Come on people who do you think is “losing” the work orders?
@@GB-dw3fo "Come on people who do you think is “losing” the work orders"

Maybe you can volunteer to straighten out the whole thing. I am sure they would appreciate any help.
@@bradbauman7594
I worked for a similar utility, SCE&G, where the work orders were lost during every outage just to increase the hours into overtime which led to massive cost over runs. Companies that could not offload their losses onto the rate payers, had to declare bankruptcy because they could not keep up with the out of control costs. So I would think that a Union hourly employee that has access to work orders is sabotaging operations for a bigger paycheck while putting the customers lives at risk.
I’m still without power and can’t even buy anything from the store nearby because they’re without power too and taking cash only. This is not right. Cmon centerpoint!!! This keeps happening again and again. Every time it rains too long or the wind blows we lose power! I realize this was a hurricane and not created by CenterPoint but they could’ve been better prepared for this. And this happening again after just going through this last month in storms is unacceptable!!! Please do something!
Guys this is enough.more than 1 week already .People haven't worked in a week

@saltysal110, Abbott can't put his big boy pants on by himself, 🤔
Get informed and educated, you mean Biden have no clue.
Was the failure to update the power grid map a factor? Does anyone know?
Oh hey, Abbott is back. "My governor went to South Korea, and all I got was this collapsed power grid".
Yes, thank you linemen, electrical experts, and laborers on this. Sadly, a contract team stoodby ~4 hours awaiting "authorization" from Centerpoint and couldn't get ahold of anyone for approval and then finally drove away. We are going on day 6 with no power. Also there's an emergency center up the street which they advised in their plans would have power as priority but they don't and the sign says go to another facility. While I understand they're working on things, it's hard to witness this. I think there's an opportunity to bring in more smart grid, new technologies, hybrids, and emergency response for redundancy per the billions of dollars available in government funding under Justice 40 and disaster preparedness yet we're stuck with same old "bandaid" repairs and the outages get worse. Let's act together and stop old bad behaviors and old money use.

From June 21 to June 30, after the legislative fundraising blackout ended, five of the largest and most prominent companies in the Texas power grid supply chain - Calpine, Centerpoint, NRG Energy, Oncor and Vistra - or their top executives collectively donated about $497,000 to state elected officials and political groups.

How much are Texans charged for soaring utility costs?
Texans used to know how to run their state. Back when they had a Democrat for governor instead of a trump sycophant. Looking for his 15 minutes of Fame on Facebook.
While still living in Corpus Christi, TX in 10-2008 my husband and I were paying $0.14 per kwh and that was on a contract for 2 years. We moved to IA where he's from and paid around $0.07 per kwh and there were no contracts and only one provider and still have only one provider around $0.11 per kwh. Make them pay for not being ready. All companies who lost days of work should sue CenterPoint for all the damages. All this happened because of their lack of maintenance to their infrastructure. Most of the electric poles and electric cables were in bad shape before the hurricane. It was a disaster waiting to happen. There are times that we would get a small storm with wind and loose power from the wind. This is not acceptable.
