By a 1000 times the very best instructor on YT. Wasted thousands of dollars on lessons, devices, and have literally tried every shiny new "golf secret" on YT by almost (not almost but all) instructors and nothing, but nothing compares even closely to Stu. 'Nuff said. The naysayers just don't get it, and are envious of your growing channel. Thank you a million times for your time, generosity and skill.
Bless you Joseph; the naysayers are doing their thing, it’s cool. They are so few and far between. So so happy you’ve found your game and plenty more to come. Game on!!!
And that is exactly what happened. My mind was blown. What a great breakdown of the golf swing's key hand and arm motions and feels. This is how my body always wanted to do it but I would never really let it because I thought it was surely wrong. I have always been trying to force the clubhead and my hands/arms straight down the line with my arms on a more vertical plane and hitting "at" the ball. What you have shown to me here has freed me to swing my hands out away from my body on what feels like a more horizontal plane, somewhat like swinging a bat, and then, by simultaneously putting downward force on the shaft through the ball (which creates enough verticallity in the swing path), the hands/arms naturally swing on a wide arc around to my left side and the clubhead path is right where it should go with plenty of speed and power. Thank you.
Wow, I knew my backswing had a missing ingredient which is why it’s always looked so odd and come over the top. I’ve always tried to avoid external rotation on the way back to avoid having the club get stuck behind me (clearly wrong) and just 3 minutes into this and my swing feels so free and so right. Thank you, your way of explaining concepts is so simple, yet complex enough to allow someone to bring the concept to their swing. That is good golf coaching 🙌🏻
Swinging this way has transformed my ball striking. Getting the hands out in front and pressuring the shaft with forearm rotation through the strike is how the great ball strikers of the past did it. Great video, my friend.
My pleasure Peter, thank you so much for the kind message and the feedback too. Would love for you to share my channel amongst your golfing friends and help reach more people. Keep up the great golf! Best wishes Stu
You are a professor of golf. Thx for your videos. They resonate with each other very well. I don’t think you ever have to worry about “giving too much away,” (in your response to a comment in another video) as most golfers (myself included) also hugely benefit from that personalized error analysis from individual instruction. As I changed my grip through your series, I think I was too tightly holding my wrist cupping into the backswing top since it was so new to me vs relaxing and trusting the swing path. This video helps with that. Thx again.
My huge pleasure and I am super happy this video helped you clarify more with your own game. Thank you also for taking the time to share your thought. Best wishes Stu
Awesome content! I really like how this takes the focus off driving the trail elbow back to your side. Being overly focused on the trail eilbow gets a lot to golfers in trouble, especially if they can't marry it up with significant trail side-bend.
I have watched several Pete Cowan videos where he talks about the spiral right arm. I had no idea what he meant by it. You made it crystal clear. My coach said I go bad when I don’t swing left. Your video showed my good swing and my drop the right shoulder and hand going up and right. Now I know how the break my swing into components and insure my club goes down and left. Can’t wait to go to the range today.
A truly thoughtful analysis. Whose importance is understated. I would have titled this video. "Why you need downward pressure on the clubshaft. Why you're not getting it. And how to get it."
Another wonderful video on the golf swing proving that we all need to develop a natural swing that works for each of us, instead of the manufactured swings others teach. Cheers.
Hello. I'm a new fan (from the Philippines) binging on your content and going through them really fast, haha! These are gems, good sir. Nothing trendy and unnatural, just pure sensible, practical and easy-on-the-bones golf. Just wondering if you are somehow influenced by (or at least in agreement with) Mike Malaska's method as both of you are encouraging "standing the shaft up" in the delivery zone-- which works wonders, sans the impossible contortions. Please make more videos on this particular topic as a counter-weight to the artificial shallowing move fad. You'll save a lot of backs! Haha!
Thanks Clark for your kind words. I don’t watch any other content for many reasons, but if you see similarities that’s all good. I don’t profess to being the gate keeper of golf of course, just sharing thoughts and beliefs with the world. Hope it helps you. Best wishes Stu.
Hi Stuart I am a fairly new subscriber to your channel and I really like the content you are delivering - I have been stuck at a 14 handicap for many years and recently developed the shanks - after devouring a lot of your content I am finally changing things around and my ball striking has improved dramatically- this particular video has helped me clear up how the right forearm “spins” down from external rotation to internal rotation on the downswing . My question is that when I do this my left forearm seems to go into external rotation and then my left wrist goes with it - should I be resisting this movement in order to keep the cupped left wrist with pressure down as you advocate or is it a subtle blend? I would really appreciate your thoughts or even a further video ( I don’t think I’m alone in wondering about this as many people seemed confused when Pete Cowan spoke about this movement)
Hi David - firstly a big warm welcome to the channel, hope you continue to enjoy. The left forearm should definitely “not” resist the external rotation. If you look at my “left shoulder” video this will enlighten you as to why. Hope that helps and good luck with your golf! Best wishes Stu
@@GoodGolfCoaching Thanks for the reply I did understand that the left forearm should go into external rotation my concern was the left wrist - should it also supinate or should I try and keep it cupped and flat - hope that is clear?
Stu, this is going to blow the minds of so many people hahahahhaha reminds me of a drill i was doing 40 odd years ago, pulling the grip off the club, obviously at the right time. So much free speed in what you just showed Stu. as i said from day 1, you are by far the best coach out there,FACT! going to email you Stu......nailed it AGAIN. cheers for now John.
Good video.... i have to say some of the more recent comments dogging you wasnt very fair on these other videos. I think the issue is ppl see what your doing and saying pros dont do this or that. Example on this vid when we see your arms sticking out that far doesnt really happen on your actual swing so maybe to clarify is it more of a feeling? I see pros do certain moves b4 hitting the ball n it looks strange and animated and they sure dont do that exact move on the actual swing because its more of an exaggerated feeling to them. I don't really know for sure but maybe thats why ppl are negatively commenting. I like your style n teaching so keep it up. You do a great job of staying calm n kuddows for that from Texas!
Hi Gregory, really appreciate your kind comments and support. Embarking on a RUclips journey I was always prepared for criticism and never more so than in a world of social media where people believe they become an expert after watching a few videos. I’m more than happy for people to rubbish my teachings, in fact, I enjoy it. Makes the world interesting and at times, comical. Thank you for being here and hope all is well with you and the lovely Texas. Best wishes Stu 😊
This is how Mike Malaska teaches. I use this method and it works great. Only thing for me is I lost yardage big time. For example 7 iron was 155 now 135 to to 140 but shots are very straight even with my woods. I wish I could figure out my yardage loss.
So many modern coaching phylosophies say that forearm rotation doesn't happen until after impact and that it's the rotation of the lead-side ribcage that pulls the club square and let's it exit left. Thoughts?
How does your content and instruction just keep getting better and better? I think you’ve found your niche in life, Stu. Master level instruction…from an instructor that literally responds to every comment. I’ve been playing this game for four years and my sincerest hope is to have the same level of understanding of the game as you seem to have…someday. Onwards and upwards my friend! Hoping your subscriber count goes through the moon! The only thing missing in this one is “that’s absolute garbage!” 😂 reference I’ve become accustomed to hearing.
Great content once again! Curious, you say internal then external rotation. Why is that important? Why not just go square to external? Regardless thanks for the videos!
@@GoodGolfCoaching Square would be at address, What I am used to doing is gradually externally rotating from address. rather than rotating internally then externally. What does the initial internal rotation do?
Good stuff, I just wish the “ pull forward” section was not as exaggerated as your hands are above the ball … at full speed ( using 0.25% playback setting ) your hands go from above toes to halfway to ball. I know most tutors use exaggeration to separate feel and real ( esp shaft lean) but when it is so overdone ( for me) it detracts. But please.. I’m complimenting !!
Unfortunately Mike - what you see, when you slow motion is still the energy that’s going through the handle at speed as described in slow motion in the video. You see the handle drop as the force down is greater than the force out and always will be. It’s the main reason why people over play the pull down and not out.
What’s the club? How far is the ball carrying? What’s the dispersion like? What we need is “the great RUclips challenge” where these figures are compared between pros, and then using a 20 handicapper student give a one hour lesson and see who gets the best on course improvement 😅
If you see the shots I hit in a row at the end, and if you’ve watched enough of my content, you’ll appreciate the shots were prettt damn straight. Distance and club are irrelevant imho because they are different for everyone. Hope that helps. Best wishes Stu
@@GoodGolfCoaching what I mean is, is that your method looks really good and I’m trying to apply it. However, of course, on RUclips there are many good instructors and I have tried a few different approaches. When it comes to playing on the golf course the improvements don’t stick for very long.
Looks like over the top… until you do the last move… interesting… And confusing. Hundreds of pros on RUclips, each seemingly with their on approach and feel. No wonder I’m lost with my swing… yes of course I try them all…😂
