Absolutely fantastic. Sounds as fresh now as it did at the time it was released. I have seen them in concert many times and they sound as good live as on CD. British music at it's finest.
Flashback! It's been years since I've heard this, it popped up on my suggestions list. And bam. Suddenly it's 2002, it's summer in Worcestershire. Wimbledon, Big Brother and chill. I still know all the words. Just what I needed to hear and think of on a cold November night 20 years later. Happiness is...... 😊
saw them live yesterday at Victorious Festival and rapidly remembered why i fell in love them all those years ago. First time i saw them they were the support act opening for James at the MEN.
Loved them for years but weirdly I never got to see them . That shameful error will be rectified in October, when I get to see them for the first time. Thank you beautiful wife for my birthday present!❤
This song sums up Turin Brakes, "Underdogs"....greatest time of my life in my youth on hot summer days, working landscaping and listening to the Optemist and then work day over and after again listening with a cold beer when work day was over..happy days!.... underrated band IMO
They played an hour session at Cambridge Folk Festival on Saturday night, July 27, and the audience reaction when this came up ... well it was one those moments you just had to be there.

Saw them at Oobleck in Brum last sunday - fell in love with them all over again - this was the last track they played - I first heard this in a supermarket over an extremely poor sound system - it took some considerable hours of googling to eventually find it - glad I did - spent many a drunken moment alone watching this! Love TB Xx
this brings back many childhood memories, my father always used to listen to this, he was friends with 1 of them before they hit the big time, its a shame he still doesnt listen to them as much...
Two black lines streamin' out like a guidance line Put one foot on the road now where the cyborgs are driving With the WD40 in their veins The screeching little brakes complains With the briefcase empty and the holes in my shoes I try to stay friendly for the sugary abuse So tell my secretary now to hold on all my calls I believe I can hear through these walls Oh, please save me, save me from myself I can't be the only one stuck on the shelf You said you'd always fall for the underdog Well, I've been dreamin' of jet streams and kickin' up dust A thirty seven thousand fool wanderlust And with skyline number 9 ticked off in my mind Oh, can you hear me screamin' out now through the telephone lines? Oh, please save me, save me from myself I can't be the only one stuck on the shelf You said you'd always fall for the underdog Save me, save me, save me, save me
I don't understand the lyrics but i absolutely love the music, the sounds, the voices, the key changes the guitar work and solo. I heard it once years ago and remembered it from the first hearing but suddenly decided to find in on YT and play it every day as well as checking out their other stuff. Some songs just stay with you a lifetime without any effort.
This song is amazing. The video does it no justice whatsoever. I would love to see it redone with an imaginative mind highlighting all of this songs beauty. I love turin brakes by the way. Keep it rockin lads
I heard this on radio6music [Chris Hawkins early show on iPlayer] yesterday, 10.06.13: haven't heard them for over ten years when Tony brought the album into my office. Don't know why I failed to download it into my iTunes library - thought I had. Anyway good to know that they are still around and still making music.
I took Turin Brakes ,The ether song ,album along with me to demo at the 2012 audio show in Surrey this year -WOW- thats all I can say really, Its a great album to use as a sonic reference (imo) Happy Days !
Just spended hours trying to find this song/band. Amazing why difficult is was. They are not on the wikipedia list of indie bands. Anyway I heard Brooken Bells and thought of them. Only thing I could remmember was "save me from myself" and then Cyborg. :-) Great song.
I can’t believe this band wasn’t bigger than it was
Proof that guitar music doesn't always have to be loud to be good.
Absolutely fantastic. Sounds as fresh now as it did at the time it was released. I have seen them in concert many times and they sound as good live as on CD. British music at it's finest.
Spot on ❤️
Beautiful track. And emergency 72.
I just adore the guitar solo in this. Gale is a master, so under-rated.
One of my favourite solos

I was there too, my personal highlight of the festival
God this reminds me of being young! Love love love this album!!!
A great song. The blues solo around 3:06 is spine tinglingly beautiful. Love the drop bending. I think I'll listen to this again and again and again.
Used to finish playing this, then put it on again, then again. Once was never enough. LOVE this song.
Memories ❤
Turin Brakes are my cherished singer-songwriters nobody else over here in Holland knows about. Favorite biking songs (remember "painkiller")

Unarguably the best acoustic guitar alum of many eras! Such a haunting album, which in my own conspiracy theory, makes it all make sense.
Brings back memories. Love this Track.
Nice homage to the movie MY Own Private Idaho. Great song too.
Can't remember the last time I heard this incredible record. It's so good and special
My fave Turin Brakes song!
Two black lines streamin' out like a guidance line

The screeching little brakes complains
With the briefcase empty and the holes in my shoes
I try to stay friendly for the sugary abuse

I believe I can hear through these walls
Oh, please save me, save me from myself

Save me, save me, save me, save me
Thank you for sharing the lyrics!
