- First Time Bokashi Feeding 1lb. Red Wiggler Bin part 1
@theeverhopefulgardener Amanda does a little bit of everything in the garden: vegetables, flowers, and worms.

This is my first time using bokashi in any of my worm bins. I typically give the worm bins 2-3 weeks between feedings, but I will check this out in a week to see how everything is progressing. One concern I have is if this feeding will heat up, luckily if it does the red wigglers have plenty of space to get into another part of the bin.

Good morning Rick, from Windermere Florida zone 9b 🇺🇸
I hope the bokashi is doing to do great things in your bin.❤👍❤
❤Peggy❤
I hope so too Peggy. Definitely a unique feeding. 😁
Interesting

Hi Rick, thanks for doing an experiment feeding bokashi to a worm bin. My bet is the worms will get through it faster than previously frozen food scraps. Azomite is a great amendment - I think it sticks around long enough to help your garden as well after you harvest the castings.

It will be neat to see how the worms like the bokashi food scraps. Even if it doesn’t make it all to the garden, if it helps the worms out. I’m happy!
Very good point about bedding, you can never have too much, but worms can suffer if you do not have enough. Looks like a nice batch of castings you have there, I have been doing some lateral migration in a couple of my plastic bins too.
Being partially broken down by the LAB I bet that food is gone in a couple weeks, worms may even have a little party, LAB produces a tiny bit of alcohol.
I keep coffee grounds, used tea bags, lemon & banana peels in a plastic coffee can below the sink in the kitchen, usually gets filled in about 10 days. I have been thinking about dumping a cup of LAB solution into a filled one and let it sit to see what happens.
Nice twist on a worm bin feeding! Stay Well Rick!!!!
Thanks Brian, I’ve wanted to try this feeding for awhile. I am partial to the migration method. I’ve done a couple complete harvests and it seems to take the worms longer to start making the castings, but with 1/4 or 1/2 the bin already having some biology it helps to cycle the next round of fresh bedding. Looking forward to see how the red wigglers handle this feeding. I’ll be bowling tomorrow hope to have my stuff together. 😁🎳🪱🪱💩
@@GardeningwithBarchuckin What I have been doing is pushing the worms and castings to 1/2 of the bin, then just fill an equal amount on the other side, with some compost or broken down leaves, thawed frozen foods, cover the new bedding with bubble wrap and leave it to em. Similar to my downward migration.
Knock em' down, 10 at a time! Good Luck!!!!
🔥🔥 Thinking of starting a work bin. Do you have a video on getting started?
@@darienlwhite ruclips.net/p/PLoMMPUlzV_xGUcb6mXCB03JTJTNSwnL8p&si=cNyD7hHqRC9bevUf here is a playlist for starting a Vermihut worm tower. But it can be used for a simple tote or 5 gallon bucket.
