The New Testament has within it the new covenant, let us understand that the new covenant is the Ten Commandments written in the heart and it is found in the New Testament, now God did not write the New Testament in our hearts according to Jeremiah 31:31-34 but he wrote the new covenant in our hearts, meaning the Ten Commandments in stone is obsolete, taken away, fulfilled by the Lord Jesus Christ and since it is fulfilled it was only to last until Christ fulfilled it and then he would magnify the Law of God Isaiah 42:21 knowing we do not obey the Sabbath today for the scripture teaches we are to live by every word that came out of the mouth of God and not by every word that he wrote. Secondly the New Testament never commands Christians to keep the Sabbath day and never states we are sinning for breaking the Sabbath either. Not one scripture is given in the New Testament rather the N/T teaches we are delivered from the Law of God written in stone Romans 7:6-7 for it is the letter that kills and is the ministry of death 11 Cor, 3:3-9 let us check ourselves to see if we are in the faith or in the denominational faith which will be burned at the second coming of Christ.

I appreciate the focus on grace and righteousness by faith. But O detect a typical imbalance to the references. Paul in his totality had a balanced approach and the reader can tell that he had to often correct the understanding the the reader of his letters to bring back a balance of faith and works. This is something brother Desmond Ford fails at as he tries to reignite righteousness by faith which by the way is not absent in the Seventh day Adventist denomination. There is balance and imbalance depending on which church threshold a participant decides step over.

i have known the position of Des from as early as 1972. you are correct about Paul being balanced. Many of Des' opponents believe and it seems you buy into their view that Des does not teach sanctification to the same extent as does Paul. the accusation of the Standish brothers goes like this Des is Calvinistic and believes in Once Saved Always Saved. well I can attest to the fact that Des does no such thing. I even heard Seminary professors at Andrews say the same thing in 1982-83. And I called them on this in the privacy of their office after class and when i quoted Des verbatim they then admitted well Des may not believe it but a lot of his followers do. this is a false charge. many SDA's have such an imbalance view of Sanctification and Justification. So much so that they can not see clearly that Paul's balance is the same as that of Des. Justification and it's proclamation is the only thing that leads to genuine sanctification. and to focus on Sanctification primarily only leads to legalism. in in every letter of Paul he leads up to an understanding of how man becomes right with God through the work of His Son and only then does he call for the proper response. this is the proper teaching of systematic theology and it is what Des teaches, and has always taught. Sanctification is distinct but not separate. Justification is the root and sanctification is the fruit. unless you abide in the root you will not produce the fruit. one is causal the other is the effect. never never fuse them, or confuse them . Adventism to this day confuses the two and fuses them. Just for instance read The Review special issue on Righteousness by Faith 1974 where Vanderman says, "it does not matter what the process is called (meaning Righteousness by Faith) all that matters is the changed heart. Jesus living his life inside you." I repeat one is the root! this is Jesus life death and resurrection in mankind's behalf. it took place 50 days before the comforter came and filled the believers on Pentecost. Justification (what God did for you) is primary and Sanctification (what God does in you) results from what Christ did appart from our cooperation and participation. this is systematic theology 101 and Adventism has yet to fully embrace it.

South Hill Farm Still, how do you understand this? Romans 8:3-4 KJV
[3] For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: [4] That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

      Well said !!
      Justification is perfect.
      Sanctification is never perfect...until glorification.
Religiosity forces sanctification onto the believer as a means of proof of their justification.
The work of the “concision” of Php 3:2... a work of the flesh with a religious claim.

Look, i get it, des showed up some sda doctrines as rubbish. But his knowledge is sadly lacking oh how to rightly divide scripture!
    We are not preists!
1 Peter 2:9 KJV - But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
