    I did the straight-to-soil with my pubicalyx cuttings. I tried them in water first and they weren't really producing roots and I got impatient. So I just put them into soil. For the baggie, I found these little disposable plastic bowl covers made by CoverMate that kind of look like shower caps. They come in a variety of sizes and you can usually get an assorted pack of them at the dollar store or Big Lots. It's like they were made for plants! Just I usually add a piece of a straw or skewer in the pot to make sure the plastic stays up and doesn't end up resting on the leaves.

    I have 3 small cuttings from a friend's 30 year old plant. It might be a european rare hoya carnosa splash. I REALLY don't want to kill them! I put them in distilled water and under a grow light. after 2 weeks I have 1/2 white fuzzy roots on all the cuttings! YAY! I might pot them up later in separate pots to give me more chances to get at least one live plant. Good idea to start with a small pot. I am going to use a 2 inch pot I have with drainage when we get to that point but I want LONG roots before I put them in soil. wish me luck!

      @@CaseysGreenThumb omg! i hope they don't die! I have had wonderful luck with my 2 ZZ plants right now and a few others so hopefully I will have some luck! the 5 new sprouts coming out of the soil are SO exciting! right after I fertilized the zz on the last watering they popped up so maybe that helped.

    Great information for Hoya propagation👍 FYI for a rooting hormone I use raw honey. Works like a champ😃

    how often do you spritz the baggie during the incubation period?

    • @CaseysGreenThumb
      @CaseysGreenThumb  4 года назад +2

      Hi Marisa! I spritz as needed. If you can see moisture on the top of the baggie, you don't need to spritz. It depends on how airtight you make it. Too much moisture can cause mold on your soil and rot your leaves...if you feel it's too wet, leave the baggie off for a few hours or a day and then resume. Hope this answered your question! 🌱
