      1. I have 2 very comfortable running shoes, of which I use 1 because I don’t want to wreck them both (or, another possibility, they are the same model and I prefer the purple pair to the grey so I wear them more and it has nothing to do with preserving a pair for a future competition).
      2. I already have a hiking shoe. To much. Not enough cushioning, too stiff. Does protect very well through. No specific trail running shoe. And I don’t foresee needing one.
      3. I can’t run long distances yet, I don’t need a long run shoe. This step for me would be a good specific shoe for my fallen arches - I over pronate also. My poor big toe. My poor knees and ankles. Current shoes are UltraBoost ST, I like to think the added inside edge stability is helping me.
      4. Faster shoe...I guess. I mean, when I get there. Right now though I’m more focused on comfort. Not gonna spend $400 on a carbon fiber shoe....

      I have lots of shoes. Fashion shoes. Lol.
      I wreck midsoles fast, cause I’m a heavier girl with fallen arches, severe over-pronation, and horrible running habits and a tendency to scuff the toes on stuff. Plus I work on my feet all day. Shoes last me 2-6 months, with max 4x/week use. When used 4x/week, shoes are goners before 1/4 the year is done. Even $100 sneakers only last me max 6 months - at the end of which I had 3 sets of insoles in them and knee and back pain again.
      ...anyone who can tell me what to do, please tell me. I’m resisting the call of custom orthotics, by using otc insoles. I have my favorites that work better than others.

    2 or 3 shoes in rotation is max I can afford, and I can not afford new recently developed shoes so I only buy new shoes that are 1 or 2 years old. Simply Google the shoe and buy the best deal whoever is selling them. Right now: ASICS 1000-7 $35-$45 (reg. $90);Brooks Adrenaline $55 (reg. $120); ASICS gel Flux $35 (reg. $90) are in my rotation now. Ideally I will have a very light weight 6oz. Racing flat in the mix as well, when I'm racing a lot, which I'm not right now. This works for me.

      @pja123pja 4 года назад

      @@banhongang7818 I mainly race 5ks so my long run is not much more then 12 miles and the Brooks Adrenaline can easily handle that and more. The ASICS GT 1000s are more responsive so I do most of my Tempo, Cruise intervals, and fartlek type runs in those (no more than 8 miles), the ASICS Gel Flux have a lot of gel in the heal for great shock absorption so I usually use those for easy recovery runs (anywhere from 4 to 6 miles). I have a slight over pronation so all three of those shoes are pretty stable, especially the Brooks Adrenaline.
      I will be keeping an eye out for a light weight trainer, or racing flat to get those track intervals in come spring.

    Awesome stuff! I need to add a good trail shoe to my rotation. I live in the north east and we have been having an unusually warm and dry winter, so I've been hitting more combinations of pavement and trails on the same run. As spring gets closer, I see myself spending more time in our beautiful New York forests. My current rotation has been clifton 6, skechers go run ride 7, and hoka rincon. I've been finding the rincons doing the best in light snow. They seem to pick up just enough snow on the sole to create kind of like a "velcro" effect like a snow tire. Anything deeper or ice, leaves me second guessing every step! I just got into running October 2018. I can say, to touch on the things that you mentioned in the beginning of the video about having things to help you're running experience. Just start running. I have found that by just running and running and running, you will both figure out what you'd like to have to better your time and every time a holiday or birthday comes up, I find loved ones, asking if I need anything or just asking if I need anything for running. I find that your loved ones will be so supportive of you getting out there, that A lot of things/gadgets, will come as you run more and get further into the sport. Thanks for all of the great info!

    QD: I really struggle building up my running shoe rotation because of the price tags. I started off with a stability shoe, Asics Gel Kayano 25, that was pretty expensive, so I couldn`t afford another pair of shoes before those were done. Now I just bought myself a Pegasus 35 because it was so cheap, and I think it`s a nice shoe. But I won`t be able to run as far in them as in the Asics. So now I have to get more different pairs of cheap daily trainers, fulfilling different purposes. So thanks for the Video Seth, great info. I thankfully got a pair of speedcross 5 gtx gifted from my parents, which opened up running all those muddy trails around where I live so I can change up my runs quite a bit already with only 2 pairs of shoes in rotation. QD: I started running local 5Ks and my weekly mileage was only 5-10 miles a week so I mostly used one pair runs all mantra (Merrell Trail Gloves). Now I focus more on increasing my 5/10K speed and throw in half marathons. As I went along I filled in my shoes as follows:
    1st: Starter shoe (Merrell Trail Glove, it works for roads and well packed trails as well as not being too bulky)
    2nd: more cushy shoe for long/easy runs
    3rd: Faster lower weight, firm, responsive shoe for racing but not quite a true racing shoe
    4th: 2nd pair of cushy shoes to alternate long/easy shoes so they can dry after wet days or let the midsole recover
    5th: 5/10K racing shoes

    QD: Some years back I tried several different shoes and ended up feeling most comfortable in Mizunos. Since then, I always keep three pairs around. I have a very light pair for short runs (under 15k) and then 2 pairs of WaveRunners. I will have an older pair that I use for my long runs and a new pair, which I am breaking in. Once my older pair hit their end-of-life, then I get new ones and my old "new ones" become the new "old ones". So, little science around what fits the terrain, distance or weather. But, it is more around have the optimal pair for my long runs, which are broken in, but not worn out.

I end up doing most of my interval/speed training indoors, so it more or less matches (long/easy run, trail, interval/speed).

    My favourite trick is to repurpose shoes. So my long run shoes eventually become easy day shoes, and my race shoes become tempo/interval shoes once they have done a few races.

    QD: Pretty much just get a lightweight trainer and then a faster/lighter shoe for workouts. Sometimes I’ll use my cross spikes for workouts. I used to only have one pair of shoes but the running store guy convinced my mom to get another pair of a different structure to prevent injury and so my shoes didn’t smell as bad. Also I don’t run in trails enough to warrant a designated trail shoe.

    What do you think about the opposite, minimalist rotation: get one pair you love and fit like a glove. Wear them all the time every day for every time of run until they wear out, using shoe goo if you want to extend life. Wear them into the dirt. Some guys even wear their's to work/school, for hanging out, everything...they don't come off. Then get another pair of the same kind. Ride the model until you can't find anymore, then get another model to bank on for as long as you can. Put on high miles, so that you are constantly wearing down shoes and changing to new ones.

    In addition to keeping things workout appropriate, cycling through multiple pairs of shoes extends the lifespan of each of them. So, while it might require a somewhat significant upfront investment to purchase three pairs of running shoes to train for a race, if you cycle through them regularly you’ll find that it takes longer for you to re-up for new ones.

    For pinching pennies: If you're fortunate enough to have a Road Road Sports in your area, they have a discount table of gently used running shoes that runners have returned because they didn't work for them. They have a policy that you have 90 days to try the shoes and if you don't like them, you can return with no questions asked. So they end up on the discount table. Best shoe I scored??? I got the Altra Lone Peak 4 mids (I used for snow/slush mountain runs - waterproof) for $80 which are normally $159.99. They were in almost perfect condition. 🙌

Race day I did try next % and 4% but settled on zoom fly as more accommodating when doing threshold and races plus £100 cheaper. Have the Peg 36 Trail for road to trail and running types in between and as you mention seems to cover all bases (Nike did a good job there!).
    Have stepped out in Reebok Forever Floatride Energy for long runs but found my feet and achilles pretty beaten up after a run and was using the Altra Lonewolf 4.5 for trails but again really tweaked my achilles prob the zero drop!

Races: Hoka Rincon, Nike Zoom Fly Flyknits, Next %, or Peg Turbos. I feel like for races it depends on the race distance and type of race. 5k or 10k would use the Next % or Zoom Fly Flyknits. QOD: I’ve no rotation. I’m an absolute amateur in this world of running shoe rotation. Have done 5k, 10k, and half marathon races and all were done w Pegs or Ghosts. I never switched shoes during training blocks and race days.
    Now, I’m starting to panic a bit bc I’m seeing all these rotation suggestions and I’m will be training and running my very first full marathon. Went to the specialty shoe shop and was suggested Ghosts but now I’m not sure what shoes to get for race day (ghosts aren’t great but can’t imagine so much drop and eight for a full marathon). Any suggestions are welcome bc I am a little panicked. Thanks! Great post 👍🏽

    • @coreyfink6783
      @coreyfink6783 4 года назад +1

      There's no need to panic--It sounds like you found some shoes that work really well for you. The Pegasus and the Ghost are excellent shoes that can absolutely carry you through a marathon and marathon training. If you really want to venture out and try some new things, think about what you are looking for in a shoe. For instance, if you want something a little lighter to go faster in, a lightweight trainer would be a good option. If you like Brooks, the Launch would be a worthwhile shoe to try: www.brooksrunning.com/en_us/mens-running-shoes-launch-6/110297.html
      The Launch is like a slimmed-down Ghost. The Pegasus Turbo is also a nice option for light/fast, albeit more expensive than the Launch.
      If you worry that the Ghost or Pegasus will not be enough for a full marathon, you might want to look into a more cushioned trainer. A solid option from Brooks is the Glycerin (on sale now, by the way). Or, if you want to adventure into the maximal cushioning world, you could try something like the Hoka Clifton. (All shoes mentioned in this comment are currently on sale at big discounts online).
      I hope this might help a little. Again, having a rotation is not a big deal--good trainers can pretty much do it all, especially if you are a beginner.

    Alright guys I’m in a pickle and need your guys help. So I bought a pair of Nike vapor fly knit 4% during my XC season. Currently I’m in track season and I haven’t changed shoes ever since. I’ve only been running in these shoes for everything. Long runs, workouts, just for everything in any terrain. The shoes have been worn out to the max already. You can see the plate and it’s just all destroyed at the bottom. I’ve tried running in other shoes like Nike epic reacts and these sauconys that I bought but they all just feel so hard on my feet. I want to buy other shoes but honestly I’ve gotten so used to the energy return the nike vapor fly knit 4% have gave me and it’s hard to find another shoe that fits what I want as a shoe and I don’t wanna waste money on shoes I won’t like. Please give me suggestions I’m thinking on buying just another pair and keep using it for
    everything as they are my personal favorite shoe to run in, super light and comfortable. I was going to but the next percents but the price is just too much and I feel the durability would be worse than the 4% since it has even more foam on the shoe. So yeah please give suggestions on type of shoes that would fit my running style. I’m a sophomore in highschool and currently in track season. 16:54 for 3 mile, 10:54 for 2 mile, and 4:59 for just a mile(which I’ve all done in the 4% ,which is why it’s so hard to find another shoe since those have been all my best times in those shoes).

    Hoka Clifton5 in case of proper road service
    Actually it was eye opening to do 22km on ice using those Asics with nails without having real cushion as Hokas even being heavy as 195lbs I didn't feel any issue as thought form changes automatically when shoe gets minimal?

    Always looking for bargains in last year's shoes..many times they are 1/2 priced, especially in somewhat odd sizes..especially get larger women's shoes cheap and fit perfectly..
