I wrote my bachelor "thesis", about the Fernando Sor method book.
What was astonishing to me while working on it was how much Sor STRESSES the point of knowing the "language". Especially I relation to how little pieces or written music it contains.
It's like a manifest that reco textualize all his pedagogic works.
I wish I knew about partimento and Nicola earlier, because Sor, Giuliani and carcassis etudes bacame GOLDMINES for everything I wish to learn about classical harmony applied to the guitar.
If I end up taking a masters Im tempted to hope to maybe have this as my focus. For now i'mma geek out on my own, struggle with fenaroli and blow dust of my Sor book.
I do not mean this as a disrespect, if Sor saw Nicola today do this he would have thought, "well of course!"
If he had to live for 250 years he would have seen Nicola, "about time!"

Peter Croton does RO in open position 'figured bass on the classical guitar', and he too displaces the stepwise motion in the bass ... you should have him on the show maybe? check out Jonathan Leathwood, he's a great improviser, maybe you could invite him on the show ... amazing stuff, thank you Mr Pignatiello and Mr Hogan for this episode

Please, can we get some links to guitar notation for RO, perhaps in several keys, major and minor? Great show thank you!

I don't see why it is important to stay in one position. Maybe you mean this for beginners. Don't you want to be free on the guitar? Compare Thomas(Labryinth of Limitations) ' work on Barry Harris' scale of chords which is a similar (IMHO) system. Sure, it is good to start in one position in the beginning.

if you are constantly moving on the neck then how can you play diminutions/ornamentations in between beats? can't, because too busy moving up or down.

I’m glad I don’t play classical guitar. At least I can explore all the neck 😅😅

Daniele! I can't believe you're here :) I love how you play! Would be wonderful to have you showing the RdO using the possibilities of the electric guitar.

@@cippigna thank you so much, Nicola. You are a very badass musicians, I’m watching your full interview. I really like the partimento methodology, I think it’s of great value for all the types of musicians!
