I have a 6 gallon Betta tank with a preset aqueon heater. Keeps my tank at exactly that and King George is nice and warm. I use an aqueon internal 10 filter and it's flow isn't too harsh for him. Just thought I would share, they are easily bought at Petco and I haven't had any problems.
We purchased this heater based on your review. It is suppose to be preset for 78 degrees. It ran at 84 and killed 4 of our fish. I read where this happened to others as well. Thought you would like to know.
Did the preset heater have an automatic turn off? There are many preset ones that don't making them rather useless if you live somewhere that gets high temperatures in summer. You're better off with ones where you can ajust the temperatures and with an auto shut off. I can't really recommend a brand as I live in Australia and we have many brands that are different to people on the states, but if you read the box you'll find all the information you need.
@@farwaalii18 best if you can keep your tank away from your vent (ac or heating). I usually use aqueon heater with a set timer so stay that heat and it will turn off when temperature is right.
I had a 20 gallon that failed due to white spot disease. The only survivors were 5 shrimp 2 of which died due to stress of moving to a small plastic container and two others died because I didn’t have a small enough filter. (I used the 20 gallon one and one shrimp got into the filter and the other got in but died from stress) I now have a single survivor. I am trying a 5 gallon because I seem to be good at shrimp and it allows for trying fish again in the future.
I hate that they preset them with only one setting, I keep my tanks at about 73° to 74°, I make sure I don’t have anything that’s real picky about that heat but tetras and guppies and shrimp and snails and all of my plants do fine with it. I think the stickers are cool, if you’ve got plants back there that will hide it that much more or stones, same thing, especially if I was laying it horizontally near the bottom. I’ve got a big stack of black rocks for the shrimp and that one sticker would actually go really well with it. 😂😂 Especially for nano tanks, I can’t believe somebody hasn’t invented an all in one, a tiny filter like that with an integrated heater. Just a tiny heater with a little sponge filter and pump on it, or even air powered.

My idea of a nano tank is, with the exception of my clean up team, everything in my 90 gallon planted tank is all my fish are nano, less than 2cm in size. With such a small bio load and the low tech plants doing most of the filtering the tank takes care of itself most of the time. Regular water checks, water top ups and 30% water change once a month. Happy fish, happy me. 🤓

dang... i thought i finally had a decent sized tank... picked up my first tank's in a long time this weekend because I could not just get one lol. got me a 16 gallon bowfront on a stand and a 10 gallon to go on top of my dresser, its been over 10 years since ive had a tank and that was just a 5 gallon tank we had as kids but we had it for about 13 years before the last of our fish passed away and the tank had a small leak.
African cichlids are starting to make a comeback in my opinion. I work part time at one of the LFS in my area and we seen an uptick in African sales in the last few months.
I got a Nano Micron about two months ago and it is indeed super easy and convenient. I've got a low height (7 inches) 10 gallon tank, since my betta fish is old and can't make a big vertical swim any more - I tried lowering the water level in a normal height tank, but that made it awkward for me to do anything in the tank, including feeding my fish, since she moves so little that I have to be very careful about where I drop food in so it is close enough to her mouth that she can get it without having to move much (she's been like this for 7 months now, so it's not that she's sick, it's just how she is now - she's almost 3 years old!). The Micron is just exactly tall enough that if the bottom of it is sitting on the substrate, the top of the filter will be close to the top of the water level. Sometimes I put a bit more water in the tank so the filter is about a half inch below the water line, and then my betta loves to rest on top of the filter. I guess because that puts her at a perfect height so she doesn't have to move to breathe air from the surface? But sometimes I leave the water level a bit lower so it matches the top of the filter and does the surface agitation thing. At which point my betta loves to rest up against the intake at the bottom of the filter. Either way, my grumpy old betta absolutely loves it.
Just ordered 3 of the Micron Nano units from your web site. Looks like an excellent product that will work perfectly for my needs. Thank you John and Lisa!
Does the nano aerate the water if I have that little nozzle above the water line horizontally and it breaks the water like a mini little water fall effect?
How many years have you been using these? I know they're popular in Europe and have been sold in the US since the mid 90s but how long have you been using these on your aquariums
the idea of heating tanks is great....it all seems to just depend on different variables ....how much water body ...where the tank rests etc...personally I only heat 2 tanks but I could see wanting to heat small tanks....i guess...smaller water body and maybe more drastic temp swings ......its all up to the hobbyist 😊🤙
Or of the fish like warm water. During the summer its easily warm enough in my place to not heat the water unless i turn on the ac. During the winter though i like it cooler in my house. Also, if you like to keep your house at a constant temp around 70 some fish like it warmer, around 80. I agree, though, ambient heat or a few heated tanks can maintain the temp of a few others. Had a salt and a cichlid tank kept a little under 80. They heated everything else.
Never understood why you'd design a filter with the impeller before the filter. Much less likely to get sand in the impeller if it has to get past a filter first.
hi i have a small 2.5 gallon aquarium kit that my kids bought and put a Bumble Bee Betta in it That's the name on the container Im not impressed with the filter Im not sure if the filter is working well? Its a Aqueon minibow 2.5. any thoughts?
Nano tanks have always been my thing. Years back when I was super active at Nano-Reef, we considered anything under 40 gallons to be nano (I believe). Then I think 5 and under was pico. I've just never been a big tank person. I do own a 75 gallon, I've had it for years, but it's never seen water. My plan is to finally set that one up next year after our big move.
Nano for saltwater is usually a bit bigger. When i was setting up a saltwater tank i was told anything under a 55 is on the small side and even a 55 is pushing it. I didnt listen and had a 30 and 40 gallon. No 10 gallons though.
@@naturesfinest2408 Hmm. In the nano enthusiast community we based it off of Albert Thiel's work, one of the people who pioneered the reef keeping hobby and was a founder and active member of the Nano-Reef site until he passed away.
Hi,I got a question which many of you can probably answer: If a waterfilter filters 1200Liter in 1 hour, and the tank is 240 liter. Is that enough? Logic says yes. The specs says is for tanks beteeen 240 and 600 liters. But.. many people have 2 waterfilters with a capacity of 1500+ liters/hour and say that it is much better. Your opinion?

Hi! I got my nano tank running for a week now. The pump came with some fiber and coal in it. Should I use a sponge or coal in a 5 gallon with some shrimp, planorbidae and a few guppy fry?
Carbon isn't usually needed. It absorbs chemicals. So if you are dosing the plants, the carbon can absorb what is meant to feed your plants. Haven't used carbon in years, and I'm not alone
I just set up a whole new 3.5 g betta tank and put the 10w Aqueon heater in it. The 48hrs waters were anywhere between 78-82 degrees which is fair to me, but the next day I notice it has gotten to 88 degrees in my tank by the heater and 84 farthest away. This was a brand new heater from petco and I have read other reviews of similar issues. Is my heater bad?
Hi I need y’all advice. I have a 20 gallon long fish tank. I love discus fish but my tank is too small. I there any other fish that look and act similar to discus fish?
i have a 15 gallon fluval flex which has a good filter built in and a space for the heater. Both are hiden from sight so it is great. And I have a 4 gallon biorb which I think isn't the best filter in the world. I have a betta in there ... no heater 🥴
It kinda sucks that the jolly just keeps working, so if left unattended it will cook your fish. Love the brand, incredibly innovative but that little feature of just not having a temp control shut off sucks. I'll stick with fluval for my 5g nanos.

I’m thinking of setting up a 55 gallon aquarium soon, any ideas?
Betta sorority!!!!
Appreciate the vape prompts.
Does the nano aerate the water if I have that little nozzle above the water line horizontally and it breaks the water like a mini little water fall effect?
Will be getting a 5 gallon for my betta fish Navy pretty soon 🐟🌑🔵
He seems content in his 3.5 one for now
(And I do heat up his tank w/warm water)
I had a Fluval Edge. It was very pretty, but summer was a pain. Overheating, evaporation etc.
How’d you deal with it?
But this filter has the impeller after the filtration media?
@@driftmeister2244 this one does, many don't.
Does keep fish keeping ship to Canada?
I have a 5 gallon shrimp tank and I’m in love it 100% the best looking tank
Could you please do a video on "10 things you should know about swordtails"?
Great product information. 🐟🌿👍😄
I love you’re videos you do a better short explanation than other channels keep it up !!
I wish I could see this filter in action to make my own judgment on the adjustable flow.
hi i have a small 2.5 gallon aquarium kit that my kids bought and put a Bumble Bee Betta in it That's the name on the container Im not impressed with the filter Im not sure if the filter is working well? Its a Aqueon minibow 2.5. any thoughts?
Great products
Hi,I got a question which many of you can probably answer:
If a waterfilter filters 1200Liter in 1 hour, and the tank is 240 liter. Is that enough?
Logic says yes. The specs says is for tanks beteeen 240 and 600 liters.
But.. many people have 2 waterfilters with a capacity of 1500+ liters/hour and say that it is much better. Your opinion?
Great video bro 👌.
I have a 56 litters / 16 gallon tank.
Love from india ❤
I counted 751 times John..😂 great stuff..i have sicce return pumps on my nano reef, I will try this heater thanks bro. By the WAY I need a couple of Oscar shirts I will check out your inventory of different shirts👍🏼 i just loved the Oscar shirt i didn't see the back at first, im sold ❤😂😂😂
I was thinking of saying "something smart" like-
Oh, just go cold water.
Oh, just do a half-tank Anoxic Zone.
Oh, just stock Air-Breathing Fish.
..............internal voice said,
"Dude, shut the fxxk up!.
There's nothing wrong with anything here, not a dam thing, don't be so cynical all the time."
I have 12 nano tanks . 3 in each living room. 2 in bathrooms. 5 in each bedroom. 2 in kitchen. 1 huge tank in hall.
Thanks for that . I have a fifteen galon tank in my home
Gosh... In my mind, "Nano" aquariums would be those
Fellow vaper!!! 😍😍😍 I’m a fish lover & shrimp (& almost any creature ❤️) what exactly does carbon do for the water?? Thank you in advance for your time & assistance!! 😭
Hi! I got my nano tank running for a week now. The pump came with some fiber and coal in it. Should I use a sponge or coal in a 5 gallon with some shrimp, planorbidae and a few guppy fry?
Hi John & Lisa! Why is it unwise to run a carbon filter in a planted tank??
Carbon isn't usually needed. It absorbs chemicals. So if you are dosing the plants, the carbon can absorb what is meant to feed your plants. Haven't used carbon in years, and I'm not alone
@@AwesomenessJourney Thank you! I was wondering as well. Do you think the amount of sponge in the nano filter is enough to be effective?
I just set up a whole new 3.5 g betta tank and put the 10w Aqueon heater in it. The 48hrs waters were anywhere between 78-82 degrees which is fair to me, but the next day I notice it has gotten to 88 degrees in my tank by the heater and 84 farthest away. This was a brand new heater from petco and I have read other reviews of similar issues. Is my heater bad?
Hi I need y’all advice. I have a 20 gallon long fish tank. I love discus fish but my tank is too small. I there any other fish that look and act similar to discus fish?
Hey KGT. If a put mesh net around the base of that filter to protect micro fry, would that hinder the filtration process?
Shout out to Lisa for the hand written thank u in my recent order. It's the little things that mean the most. Thank you so much.
i have a 15 gallon fluval flex which has a good filter built in and a space for the heater.
By any chance do you all sell sponges for the micron to ease the changing and cleaning process for the sponge
