My dad worked there from 1940s to 1980s - I remember those chimneys belching orange smoke - all Braddock had that dust settle on it - that was a time before pollution controls. Gigantic mounds of rusty iron, ore, and other stuff on the road from Turtle Creek to Braddock and a line of cars across the road from the entrance of mill workers. Remembered my mom scrubbing his work black work denim work clothes until they were green again. Big-shouldered men who just fought a war to come back to cast the steel that built post-war America from towers to the interstate. They all died of cancer, but they sent their sons and daughters to college. They were giants and we will never see the likes of them again.
I deliver bulk grease there about every other week. Being a train nut and model railroader, it's one of my favorite customers. Thank you for posting this excellent vid.
I grew up in Forest Hills, on the other end of the Westinghouse Bridge. Many of my neighbors rode the 87 Ardmore car to work either at ET, or at "The Westinghouse" in the Turtle "Crik" valley. Happy to see that there is still one integrated mill producing American steel in my home town.
Really? its still operates? I should have go back and visit some of my old co-worker. 20 years ago don't if anyone still there tho..I miss this work place. I was in Pitts last long weekend. Nice clip Rob. Thanks for bring back the memories

Fabulous photos of the Braddock area and the historical US Steel mill. Nice work.

Excellent pictures as always. Still running strong after over 120 years of operation!

Yes it is. Thank you.
1:55 You can see a roller coaster in the background
Kennywood park
Sad at one time all 3 furnaces produced steel, now 2 are used for parts for the 1.
You dont see the USS tower entering over the hills coming down the tri-boro like he is depicting it.
That’s look like Pittsburgh
