2:23 Ohhh my god dude, that's one of those shots that while you're getting it you're just thinking, how could I ever top this? Haha, just beautiful work all around.
Your work never cease to amaze me, it always got that simple "enjoy the moment" vibe and genuinely put a smile on my face watching it. Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you very much for charing this masterpiece. This is a perfect exsample how only a camera can show us a cross-section of our society. Young and old, present and future in unbelievacble strong pictures. God bless you dude. BR dirk from germany
Solid and beautiful images! You are one of the few filmmakers on RUclips that understands how to use composition instead of hiding behind a gimbal in every shot. Also quite impressed by this camera. Seems like it handles highlights pretty good.
Lovely selection of shots mate! You really took some time on this one. Thoroughly enjoy it when you film my home town. Many a day I skipped school and hung out on the beach! Thanks for the journey!
Incredible the minute plane 2:20... I would love to be able to take as many good images as you do. I have a lot to learn and you are a great inspiration. Thank you again for making us a gift for the eyes.
I love the way this film unlike a lot of your films had a variety of contrast with varied fading. Variety is the spice of life and even though pace is good in a film, I think varying looks make it more interesting.
You need to do a video about how you get these shots without looking like a creep. I feel like if I tried to get these shots of people on the beach they would get mad and think I was a creep or something.
Eterna Bloomified! Been playing around with the A7III for the past weeks. The capabilities of the Sony are mind-blowing, the high ISO, Autofocus, battery life and so forth. It's superior in almost every way. The only thing I was not able to get out of it yet is "Soul". Obviously just personal perception and not important at all in a technical sense. But seeing Eterna put to good use reminds of the personality of the X-H1 every time and I love it!
Yea, personal perception, the more you improve and start to get an eye for what stands out and tells a story. Why cameras like the BMPCC, digital Bolex & tons of indie filmmakers using old "crap" vintage lenses, I think philps skill kinda makes this stuff really stand out. whats nice is your a7 3 can adapt almost anything out there, might help spark some magic!
I agree - the music complements the beautiful filming perfectly. Philip always seems to take a lot of care in his choice of music - it's easy to let down a film with poor music choice. Not a problem here! The music really goes well with the mood of the film.
Fabulous--the BEST color I've ever seen from your videos---vastly superior to the Sony color IMO. Skin tones are gorgeous. I note the video Caged Birds on Vimeo and your video combined would make someone think, "I've GOT to go out and get his camera!" So, that's what I did. (Actually, I purchased the X-H1 before I saw your video--I live on the edge.) I've been looking to the alternative to Sony, Panasonic...I'm tired waiting on Canon to give us another camera they have crippled ostensibly to protect some other product in their line...dumbest idea EVER. Lovely shots and music Phillip. Your stuff is always so lovely.
How do you make everything look magical Every camera i see you use You make it look beautiful. Can you teach us how as I want to see your masterclass but i Don't have the money as i'm only young.
Yes!! I love my X-H1! I recently switched from filming with the color profiles to using F-Log w/ Eterna and it's beautiful!! I plan on making a video comparing them eventually. Such a fun camera to shoot with.
Haven't had any issues-especially for what I'm doing (daily vlogs) it works just fine. I haven't heard of there being any issues. Is that a thing? or is it just limiting?
If my brother or father did this some knucklehead would come over to him and call him a pedo..... sad but true and unfortunately the world we live in now. How do you do this without that happening? Seriously. Lovely filmmaking Philip.
Nice. I do like the X-H1 for video, quality is good and the colour profiles are great. I was shooting video on Sunday at Dungeness with it (and an Atomos Shogun) and the footage was looking really nice.
It is a lovely place, the big difference is the shed by main boat, seems to have been dismantled but it still has that haunting atmosphere. Generally I tend to get there for dawn, as you get some lovely images: www.michaellaingphotography.com/boats-of-dungeness/
Very nice. This is my first time commenting on one of your uploads. Always wanted to say thank you for all your drone videos. I learned a lot. Question: What are you using for upscaling to 4k? Any special software/plugin?
Yes! Can you tell us how to film people without being rude? Do you ask some of them? It didn't look like it since in many shots there were a lot of people, I was there that same week maybe but didn't have the confidence to shoot people haha.
When you are mixing slow mo and normal speed footage together is there anything specific you have in mind for them to "go together"? beside keeping to the music beat and the story ofc.
siscopiso music/ feel/ shots. There is no rule as such. It’s very much instinctive. There has to be a good sprinkling so it feels like one is not forgotten over other. I shot mostly real time so the slow motion shots are in the minority.
Philip Bloom thank you for replying. I'm having a hard time mixing mine, it's more difficult (for me) to keep the flow if I mix the two together, I think the normal speed footage has to be a bit more calm to pass the slow MO section (like in your video where people are sitting and now moving around much). Thanks again, always inspiring!
2:23 Ohhh my god dude, that's one of those shots that while you're getting it you're just thinking, how could I ever top this? Haha, just beautiful work all around.
It even has the bird flying in front
Robby Huang beat me to it
It was pretty amazing
That shot from 2:21 looks straight from an expensive Sci fi movie love it and the sunset!
it's so relaxing and soothing to watch these shorts.
Superb lesson in storytelling and really getting the essence of a place. Beauty always teaches you something
thanks so much Mike. I try so hard to try to do more than just throw random shots together.
There's a difference between most youtube cinematography and this. This is art expressed in its purest form! Do keep on doing what you do.
Your work never cease to amaze me, it always got that simple "enjoy the moment" vibe and genuinely put a smile on my face watching it. Thanks for sharing :)
onboardaddicts thanks so much. I really appreciate it.
What a beautiful way of showing what a camera can do great review no talking just a beautiful film. I loved it.
It's amazing how you make it feel documentaristic and observational instead of voyeuristic and stalky.
You never fail to turn the ordinary into moments of magic. Really nice images, every one of them.
Live in Australia now but for three minutes I was transported back to my childhood summer holidays :)
Same! Though, I'm now in New Zealand
Superb, magical, incredible, fantastic job Philip, thank you to share.
I can literately watch that 2;21 shot forever !!!
Thank you very much for charing this masterpiece. This is a perfect exsample how only a camera can show us a cross-section of our society. Young and old, present and future in unbelievacble strong pictures. God bless you dude. BR dirk from germany

HUNTR Film thank you. Much appreciated. Am always trying to show the virtue of tripod shots! Best camera accessory out there!
3:02 There's something gloriously satisfying about watching the lift descend to eclipse the sun. Thank you for letting the shot settle. Cheers.
Lovely selection of shots mate! You really took some time on this one. Thoroughly enjoy it when you film my home town. Many a day I skipped school and hung out on the beach! Thanks for the journey!
Amazing "Bloomilicious" work as always
Very nice short film as always. Eterna has a very pleasing look.
Scott Wesinger yeah I really like it. My favourite thing about the video on the camera.
I keep wondering why they haven't added Eterna to the X-T2.
so you are forced to buy the h1 I'm guessing
Scott Wesinger They have released the Eterna LUT, though I'm told it doesn't work as well.
Simply lovely. Craft over gear. Shoot with what you’ve got..tell a story.
Okay Philip. Thanks for that really. Outstanding.
Beautiful in every way
Incredible the minute plane 2:20... I would love to be able to take as many good images as you do. I have a lot to learn and you are a great inspiration. Thank you again for making us a gift for the eyes.
Corpetit have you!
Always coming back to your videos for inspiration, Philip. Lovely, per the usual.
I love the way this film unlike a lot of your films had a variety of contrast with varied fading. Variety is the spice of life and even though pace is good in a film, I think varying looks make it more interesting.
Great images as always!! love your work Philip Bloom!!!
I Just LOVE this...technically brilliant.....just bloody good
Peter Whiter thank you! :)
never seen a shot like that on youtube, when you filmed that BA360 ride in golden hour...!
I love the character of your shots and the stories you tell. Incredible stuff. That shot at 2:30.... next level.
I hope that samsung now teamed with fuji can help them with there codecs and other features we would love to see from the NX1 on to the X-H1.
Amazing shots.
Great colour grade and focus, well done!
A stunning result.
Eterna 😍 Excellent video 👍🏻
damn this is incredible. From the music to the sci fi shots at the end
0:51 Love this shot, so cute and the upward panning was perfectly timed
You need to do a video about how you get these shots without looking like a creep. I feel like if I tried to get these shots of people on the beach they would get mad and think I was a creep or something.
you are assuming he does it while not looking like a creep. :)
It's called confidence!
Telephoto lens helps
This must be shot by film, the colour is super retro and unique compared to your previous videos!!!
You're a phenomenal visual storyteller. Really enjoyed this.
Great work Bloomer! Have to take my H1 out more often!
My dear lord. That is one heck of a movie.. soo damn goooddd... truly master of master 👌👏
Oh my God this is so good!! Love the music
The whole northern hemisphere is frying it seems, great video Philip!!!
Very good Indeed. Came here via Jeff Horne's channel who recommend this video
My breath is taken, once again.
i really like your colour grading in this.
Stunning as always.

Because Fujifilm makes a better image than sony
Dude, I'm right there with you.
Realy amazing!!!
Yes and yes! I love my Fuji x-h1’s
You show us again how much camera doesn't matter, the videographer does.
You can shoot Canon, Panasonic, Sony or Fuji. Your film are always amazing...
I love your choice of music on this one. I think it's even better than the last Brighton video you did.
I agree - the music complements the beautiful filming perfectly. Philip always seems to take a lot of care in his choice of music - it's easy to let down a film with poor music choice. Not a problem here! The music really goes well with the mood of the film.
Super job! Love especially, the 2:25 moment.
Great video, I have just bought the XH1 for video myself

Black magic?
How do you make everything look magical Every camera i see you use You make it look beautiful. Can you teach us how as I want to see your masterclass but i Don't have the money as i'm only young.

Genki Hagata how do you use f-log AND eterna?
Fuji has a base LUT for converting F-log to Eterna, www.fujifilm.com/support/digital_cameras/software/lut/
Genki Hagata ok cool thanks. You not having issues shooting log and 8 bit though?
Haven't had any issues-especially for what I'm doing (daily vlogs) it works just fine. I haven't heard of there being any issues. Is that a thing? or is it just limiting?
Genki Hagata yeah 8 bit and log can cause the image to fall apart. I do use slog sometimes on my a7 cameras but am always spot on with exposure.
2:23 one of the best shots I've seen lately
masterpiece as always!
Minhaz Khichadi thank you!
Maaaan I’ve been umming and aaahing whether or not to trade in my 6D for the XH1 for months!
Fantastico hermano, muchas felicidades te quedó de lujo! Abrazo desde Aguascalientes, México
If my brother or father did this some knucklehead would come over to him and call him a pedo..... sad but true and unfortunately the world we live in now. How do you do this without that happening? Seriously.
Lovely filmmaking Philip.
love your work
Incredible work 💖💖💖
Beautiful.
Amazing philip!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great video Philip. Couldn't agree more with the title! ;)
You did this awhile ago, just seeing this. Cool stuff!
Lovely stuff Philip - well done again - I'd love to own a Fuji, they look much more fun to film with than a Sony.
Mark Shirley what looks more fun?
district5rookie nothing...he an ass who wants to argue . most fuji fans are like this.
shakalaka lol. People can be silly.
Nice. I do like the X-H1 for video, quality is good and the colour profiles are great. I was shooting video on Sunday at Dungeness with it (and an Atomos Shogun) and the footage was looking really nice.
Michael Laing love Dungeness. I must go back
It is a lovely place, the big difference is the shed by main boat, seems to have been dismantled but it still has that haunting atmosphere. Generally I tend to get there for dawn, as you get some lovely images: www.michaellaingphotography.com/boats-of-dungeness/
We now have proof it get's sunny in the UK!! :-D
Seriously though, lovely film. :-)
Did it shoot in anamorphic format or did you render out of the sequence that way? Beautiful. Cheers.
Fantastic like always...Thanks!
Love it! I tend to use Classic Chrome on all my youtube video but my X-H1's Eternia is calling my name after watching this
So beautiful
Just Love this tune! (The Telescope) .... Oh and your videoing is still up to snuff Philip! 😁
Gorgeous
can you hightlight that parts that were filmed in 4k and 1080p please......AMAZING FOOTAGE BTW
anything slow motion is 1080p
@@philipbloom thank you......can you tell me what the crop is like in 4k for example 23mm is the 35 mm equiv but does that change in 4k ?
Amaka Vizualz its 1.5x crop.
Philip Bloom Thank you sir
Amazing as always, Philip, but I really do miss the commentary on the hardware. Something about the way you explained it, added to the art.
TheNovaProspect i have done many reviews recently. I just can’t do them for everything. Sorry.
Philip Bloom No worries! I thought the format had been changed completely! My mistake!
Delightful, I wish I could do just a 1/10 as well.
How did you avoid the moire? Does not look like an XH1 video. Very nice.
didn't notice any
Lovely!
It's superbe has always. But curious, how many hours of footage you had to be able to make this 3m37s vidéo?
Joël Germain hours? Nah. Shot maybe 40 minutes. Prob less
You're a Master!
Inspiring
Whats the video format ration? looks like wide screen format to me on youtube!
Dev Anand 2.35:1
Well done
great as allways :)
Very nice. This is my first time commenting on one of your uploads. Always wanted to say thank you for all your drone videos. I learned a lot.
Question: What are you using for upscaling to 4k? Any special software/plugin?
StreetShooterMe thanks. I used instant 4 from red giant.
Thanks for the answer :-) That was fast!!!
Simple y lindo!
What's the weather doin' in pommie-land - you got the heat wave and Tom Heaton nearly got fried in an electrical storm.
Great video made me giggle
Magical!
Yes! Can you tell us how to film people without being rude? Do you ask some of them? It didn't look like it since in many shots there were a lot of people, I was there that same week maybe but didn't have the confidence to shoot people haha.

Nice framing, as always, didn't like the colors much, though. Did you change your post workflow?
Rafaelinux info is always in the description.
Cheers For the 21:9 Ratio It fit perfectly with my screen
Have you colour graded this video?
Do you find it inflexible to colour grade a 8 bit 4:2:0 file from the XH1?
Fantastic shots, great selection of music, perfection. So much life and warmth. not fan of the bokeh on some clips tho. :/
I I would love to have the opportunity to work with you, there would be so much to learn from you
Congrats
