I like the idea of having my own board built as well - I think that doing it this way and becoming one of Damien's Patreons seems like the best of both worlds. In fact, your original Gen 3 inverter board video was what inspired me to have JLCPCB put together the dual motor "small" board... that video was VERY helpful since it illustrated what to look out for between the different sized boards. I don't see that Damien sells the "small" board. I'm strongly considering to see if the Dual motor Gen 3 board can be paired with the Camry Hybrid transaxle for more usable power. These transaxles are now pretty common in wrecking yards and might fall well under your original goal of a low-cost conversion.
I am glad that this video was helpful. When you talk about small board I guess you referring to the open inverter board for Prius Gen3 inverter. In this case I am making the VCU board which will communicate to the inverter through the serial link interface rather than providing control signal to igbt transistors. Also other benefits is that it could be used to control other sensors and/or auxiliary accessories in the vehicle. It can also interface to the open inverter as a VCU controller. You right about possibility of picking up cheap Toyota or Lexus transaxle.
@@LatutaEV Yes, I was referring to your other video... Both of the JLCPCB videos are helpful to those unfamiliar with the service and how to utilize it. It's interesting to hear the Zombieverter can interface with the OpenInverter board as well. I might look into that if I can determine that Zombie would offer extra functionality. I don't have a specific swap in mind yet, I'm mostly just in an exploratory phase.
Thanks! Your step by step videos are great. Love all the details. Gives me confidence I could do this. Could you share with us the total cost of all the parts? Thanks, Ross
For three boards unpopulated and two boards populated and wemos adapter board I paid 210 pounds plus shipping with custom clearance about 23 pounds. You can actually see final price towards the end of the video
@@LatutaEV Thanks, I went back to the end of the video and did find a total. So it looks like you might save about $100 by doing it yourself over the built unit that Damien sells.
@@rossconverse9067 To be honest I am not building the board myself just to say money, more for the fun of doing it myself. But I just checked the price and Damien sells one board for 350€, I have 2 boards for £220 plus 3 blank PCBs
@@LatutaEV Yes, I understand. I'll probably build my own board too. Saving money and the satisfaction of doing it yourself is a win-win. Hopefully we can watch you build your board in detail. Thanks for responding so quickly. Ross
@@rossconverse9067 I already had a message from JLC PCB about the delivery on the 28th but I am away from home for Xmas so hopefully get it in the new year
Another good clear , 'how to' from Ed , thanks !
Thanks John
Enjoyed watching this video, you make it look easy. Thanks for sharing 👍
I am glad you found it useful 🙂

Good day. Does the zombieverter work with a 2008 2nd gen prius ?
@@votinkhosi5811 Yes it should work fine with Prius gen 2. I myself only tried with Gen3. Please check my other videos
