It does seem more like a natural consequence than a CHOICE by the plants. But the question is do other plants "hear" these sounds and respond to them? For example if an area is drying up at the edges will other nearby plants make preparations for the same thing happening to them?
Isaiah 55:12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap [their] hands.

I'd subscribe to the first theory. I feel like dried out things tend to squeak a bit and if they've been cut or in a drought it could lead to conditions where the wind makes the dried out stalks might creak. i think creak would have been a safer word than scream. But they absolutely do network with each other through root systems and chemical triggers, i will say that much.
Interesting, there is a book out on the different behaviors of Water and the different kinds of crystal it makes depending on if you speak nice or harsh to it. Hugging at tree can seriously make you feel better ... so why not ??? Something to ponder.

Sometimes they are really engry, that happens when I clean my land, I have to once a year because of the fire. I hear (feel/sense) it when I "mow the lawn" to appease the code people and I hate it. Thank you for this. Very interesting. I've always felt/heard in my head (?) that stressed trees are "screaming". Call me crazy. You won't be the first. For all I know some humans may be more sensitive to what's going on in the environment ??? Perhaps I consumed too many magical mushrooms in the past ??? The good Lord only knows.
This just in: ground-breaking research on hominids in the wild has recently been unveiled with regard to a previously unrecognized and extensive system of heretofore unknown auditory aspects of the alimentary canal. Under observation, some subjects displayed wide and varied forms of highly audible eructation in both public and private capacities. This raises scores of new questions for scientists who currently hypothesize this reaction may serve a higher form of communication, perhaps a new form of language superseding previous vocalized forms. Furthermore, an apparent secondary system has also been uncovered, but being based upon the production of flatus, it remains the most puzzling of all auditory systems. Scientists hypothesize that the deeper tones used in flatus signal-communication may indicate pain, or indicate to nearby members the individual's current nutritional status. However, why this would be useful remains unknown, especially given the often pungent nature of such signaling.
Might just be that a plant that is being damaged has developed, the ability to emit sounds so a predator can kill the herbivore so it stops damaging the plant. But who knows :P
Read years ago, maybe with Kirlian photography, or some other way of detecting. So long ago. But in the experiment, when the person just thought about cutting off part of a plant, it would pull back a bit. Kinda cringe.

Science give predictive models based on the most likely evidence. The field of plant intelligence is very new. There are no real consensus yet. What some scientists seem to have identified is that plant have a form of intelligence. Here are two paper if found with 5 mins of looking. Science improved and discovers. We have learned more about plants in the last 10-15 years.

Pray for all the Australian plants that are burning right now 😔🙏🏼
Prayers do absolutely nothing
Well said... Mushrooms and plant relationships and others around... Stuff we are just started exploring in ways they can be tested... Very cool..
You're awesome man
Thanks for your contributions
Greatly appreciated
This made me get my lazy behind up and start watering my succulent
Very interesting Adam, maybe some genera of fungi may communicate as well as other living organisms?Thank you for sharing. Keep on keeping on.
Your the Man!!! I'm a Fan!! Awesomeness that your talking about language of plants? 528Hrz? Your a NatureGodSend!!
Interesting video Adam! Next up: "Can plants dance in place when they hear music"? My guess is that they would prefer Country music.................. 👍🎸👍
I was walking by some honey mushrooms in the forest last month and I heard them scream "eat me in some chicken and wild rice soup!"... so I did.
"Do Plants Scream When Stressed?"
They do, if you're doing it right.
Sorry, couldn't resist. Loving your channel mightily, Mr. Adam. Sharing it with my dad soon, as he's an avid RVer & hiker. Who knows?---he may pick up foraging. Thanks for all you do! ;-)
Cool... I feel it when big trees cut down but I feel bad for them... Neat to know they make sound...
That does make sense that plants communicate with other plants and animals/insects..
Maybe do a video of the effects of different kinds of music and other sounds on plants.
Adam, what strategy do you use to protect yourself from Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses? Thank you for my new favorite channel. I'm obsessed! :)
Glad you're enjoying the videos! I've been eating a highly anti-inflammatory and immuno-supportive diet for the past 10 years and I feel this helps in these kinds of situations. I also diligently inspect myself for ticks periodically while exploring the woods, and then I do a full body check before bed.
@@LearnYourLand Thank you! I signed up to receive notifications on your website. I'm in NJ but will travel to western PA if/when you offer any foraging classes. :)
Glad I watched to the end. Very interesting subject, but, I was feeling guilty about pruning my trees.
Thanks Adam. I hope your holidays were nice.
Best debriefing of this study. So easy to understand. Thanks :)
Voice of reason
I'd subscribe to the first theory. I feel like dried out things tend to squeak a bit and if they've been cut or in a drought it could lead to conditions where the wind makes the dried out stalks might creak. i think creak would have been a safer word than scream. But they absolutely do network with each other through root systems and chemical triggers, i will say that much.
The whole entire drought region can be screaming all connected.
I have heard logs , hiss , snap, crackle and pop, in a fire. Fire hurts...
Interesting, there is a book out on the different behaviors of Water and the different kinds of crystal it makes depending on if you speak nice or harsh to it. Hugging at tree can seriously make you feel better ... so why not ??? Something to ponder.
sure they do, they live we live.
0:00 I thought this is a plant scream for a second
Another great presentation. Thank you.
who would not like this guys work .. get a hobby
Perhaps those "screams" come from the inner cell structures breaking down during the high stress days. Could be like menstrual cramps on a heavy flow day for those of us who are female! That's my 2 cents.
How fun Thanks Adam have a great new year
Great Videos as always! May the year 2020 be another good year! Excellent Channel!
YOU THOUGHT
Well done! Refreshing information.
my Christmas tree kept me up all night. couldnt sleep a wink what with all that noise.
Killing a tree for the cult it's definitely bad Carma !
Very interesting
Wish people would get straight to it...
I wonder what sound they make when you rip them out of the ground. I'm gonna feel bad next time I grab my shovel
What would be the point of them scream a warning. Not like the other plants can up and run away.
Sometimes they are really engry, that happens when I clean my land, I have to once a year because of the fire. Never heard any sound but I can see enger and it desappears when I somehow can explain them that I am not killing them just cleaning.
I know it's weird. Really weird! I don't even know how to explain it.
@@sumfukinguy1196 Sorry, I am not going to elaborate about anything in the internet.
Meditation, vision and feelings.
Wish you a very good new year.
@@sumfukinguy1196 I wrote you several answers, too complicated. This was the simplest I got, not pompous really, or maybe I don't know the meaning of that word.
Sometimes we are too open on line, sure.
I hear (feel/sense) it when I "mow the lawn" to appease the code people and I hate it. You can keep the plants right next to them deemed flowers etc. But it's like cutting their friends, close buddies in proximity leaning against eachother. I hate it, and it takes away other less respected pollinating plants that bees and wasps and butterflies and moths might like. :(
Thank you for this.
I'm pretty sure if you hear screaming in your head that's a bad sign. Or, you have a rare syndrome called exploding head syndrome
As always, interesting information 👍
Very interesting, thanks
Man, you should do a podcast
youre a real life wood elf. you just need a bow
Where's Homer when you need Tomaccos
Thanks for the info
Scientists: "Plants can scream understress"
Vegans: Suprised pikachu face*
Time to die
Wow the plants sound a whole lot like a guitar. Lol
I wonder what the apple sounds like when I sink my teeth into a juicy Fugi
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
You speaking this today when power company odered chpping 2/3 of my beloved cedar 💚 I know tree will hurt 💚 i am hurting too 💚
Maybe they’re sending messages to the fungi? I wonder if their roots are the ones producing the sounds
Thank you, pretty great!
Only if they are "Yell"ow plants....😏
The borborygmi of plants, possibly? 🤔 Thanks for the weirdness, Adam.
Our ears are not adapted to hear them scream for a reason. Are ears are well adapted to hear the screams and cries of animals.
Might just be that a plant that is being damaged has developed, the ability to emit sounds so a predator can kill the herbivore so it stops damaging the plant. But who knows :P
never gonna pee on a tree again...
Read years ago, maybe with Kirlian photography, or some other way of detecting. So long ago. But in the experiment, when the person just thought about cutting off part of a plant, it would pull back a bit. Kinda cringe.
Dude kinda looks like Dave Franco from the movie neighbors
Why didn't you have the sound the plants made for us to hear like you implied on the title... I gave you a thumbs...

Very well articulated 🤙🤙
Plants screaming out in pain-
14k people-“Interesting”
Is it not?
Good Lord, now you’ll have people advocating for saving the plants. There won’t be anything left that’s safe to eat.
If a plant gets cut in the forest, and no plants are capable of hearing, did it make a sound?
Hi Adam, i was wondering if you could guide me to learn about Toxic mushrooms or make more detailed videos about them please. I would be really appreciated.
