To be perfectly honest, the actors are their own people, they can do or think whatever they want. What do you expect, them to give their first born child to J.K. just because they worked on films based on her books?! Give them a little bit of credit, that they've got the ability to think for themselves.

I think the most outrageous part is people calling for her to "gracefully" distance herself from the Harry Potter franchise. Oh yeah, trust me, you're not the only one. To be honest, even if I don't like the creator, I would never try to erase their identity. The link between the creator and their art form will always be there. You can't claim anything...So if they can't get a grip of themselves, the best option is for them to "gracefully" step away from her and her work. Far away into the land of lunatics where they belong.

I would also like to add that autism affects women and men differently. So a trans-woman with autism will be affected differently from those born female. Yes, there is a spectrum, but even for women higher up on the spectrum, it still affects them differently to men on the higher end. Whether it's down to biology as well as society, it's much harder to detect autism in women as we have been conditioned to hide it, whereas "boys will be boys". I was 21 when I was diagnosed with autism and that's only because I was seeking therapy at the time and found a good therapist. To this day my older brother accuses me of not having autism because it looks nothing like the autism portrayed in men in films, and I even have friends who have no idea I have autism. Women and trans-women are different - why can't we be celebrating those differences rather than attacking anyone who claims there are differences? I'm 25 now and am ashamed of my generation for this hate bandwagon disguised as 'love', that we have created! Just because we're all different doesn't mean we're not equal! I think the argument that Radcliffe, Watson et al. should support J.K. Rowling because 'she made them famous' is misplaced. They were hired by a film production company as actors, and this does not require them to agree with or support anyone involved on political issues. The reason they should support her is that, with the possible exception of Emma Watson, they know that she is right. Unfortunately their careers depend on them pretending otherwise, which is the real problem.

Actually Rowling had a very prominent say in the casting process. It was her call to cast Watson though she was a lot prettier than Hermione Granger of the book. And even Radcliffe got the go ahead despite not having the bottle-green eyes and unruly hair as the character is originally written. So yes, she did have a role in making them who they are today. And it is also true that neither have proved to be much post HP.
Fans of the book were willing to accept these deviations only because Rowling endorsed it. I also recall reading that Rowling had placed a condition that prominent roles are filled out by British actors.

Does she think she is so important that she could not be written out of any future films or replaced? At least Ralph Fiennes stayed loyal to J.K. Rowling. It's a bad sign when Voldemort comes across as a reasonable and fair minded human being. But of course, Fiennes is old enough to remember when people were actually civilised and could disagree without constantly trying to cancel each other.

If they believe that then let them. It’s stupidly divisive to suggest someone should think like you because of money. It’s probably the worst. Now, if the argument is that they actually agree with Rowling but are pressured to not say it publicly that would be….because of money too! It’s disgusting. Money is a great thing but to sacrifice basic moral beliefs for it should be worse news than it is currently.

They are protecting a career afforded them by JK Rowling! The irony is completely lost on these young, mid talented, upstarts.
Feminists everywhere should rise up in defence of their hard earned achievements. They have found their voice; their rightful place in society! They should not allow these tiny, minority groups to gain ascendancy and deny them their rightful place in the world.

Totally stand with Rowling. Even just the free speech part is enough, aside from the fact that what she said was CORRECT - reflecting the actual physical reality of the situation, as opposed to just catering to whatever makes a person feel good about themselves.
