- Light No Fire is a game about adventure, building, survival and exploration together. Set on a fantasy planet the size of Earth, it brings the depth of a role playing game to the freedom of a survival sandbox.

Love how much more measured and faithfully concerned Sean was about NOT over-promising this time. 5 years is a long time for dev before announcing. Good for them. Go Hello Games, wow us.
I still think some people probably won't let the launch days go though :(
Sean's not a bad guy, but he just didn't want to say no when there was so many eyes on him
"it's like the first real open world game" a quote from this reveal. This game looks dope, but he's still doing the same shenanigans.
They did No Man’s Sky yes? If so I loved it after the improvements and hope this game will be better
There is still a question of what the game is about, so multiple biomes well thats good. Base building and mounts and customisable armour, is there quests, puzzles, interesting gameplay loop.
@@expressrobkill true
This studio is on route for the greatest redemption arc of all time. No Man's Sky is legitimately amazing now. And I'm looking forward to this immensely. Let's Goo
On route? They are already there, my friend.
NMS is clearly far from incredible, but it's not a disaster as some say, it's very average overall in fact.
The concept was really interesting, but the execution...
@@nawack2774bro have you played the game recently ? it doesn’t seem so
It already is, almost reaching Rockstar Games status... not quite there yet though
They already achieved that years ago
You can tell how much more experience and procedural game developing knowledge they've acquired with NMS. playing this will be like one of NMS planets where the inhabitants are still in a medieval age. 🔥🔥
With that logo - it might be exactly just that
@@Hrungni in the Steam page says it is an ancient Earth.
The problem is, with procedural generation you always end up getting the Ubisoft problem: a massive space to explore with nothing to do in it.
For depth you need bespoke, unique things to do. That was the problem with NMS, you had a bunch of things to do, but once you've done that thing once, it's going to be the same time after time just with a slightly different layout.
For this game to work you would need an AI writing stories and quests, then procedurally generating the dungeons and caves you need to visit, making its own textures and objects, and putting in the elements to tell the story of the quest you're on. Without something like that this will be another Fallout 76; width of a lake, depth of a puddle.
@@beckriv9854 So many studios employ it as a crutch rather than accommodate it alongside their craft, that's the problem.TES Oblivion's still probably the best example of procedural tech mixed with manual level design, albeit more rudimentary.
Game seems iterative - affirmed during the presentation. It's a different story, though, if they didn't have the bark to back it up; but No Man's Sky's eventual proof of the pudding.
@@beckriv9854 A mix of procedural with deliberate design seems to be what they're doing here, which a lot of studios do. The issue with No Man's Sky was/is just the gameplay loop. Hopefully with the scope scaled back a bit, they can explore deeper, more fulfilling mechanics with elements of bespoke design.
This to me was the best reveal of the night.
Same
can't agree more
100%
Exactly!!!! I hope they let us play it in VR as well like they did for NMS! NMS in VR looks OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!
same, hello games is doin it again
It looks amazing, I do hope there's some cities around the place. I love lush open worlds, so long as they actually feel lived in. With that said, this looks amazing.
I do to, I also think the planet will start to be formed by player made cities.
Don’t do that don’t start getting hyped over stuff like that lol
Looks like the world will be mostly constructed by players themselves leading onto what Sean said.
@@Eggroley maybe not all, you can clearly see that theres sort of a castle or temple where the players were entering...
and knowing HG by NMS, i bet there would be the equivalent of planetary vaults, abandoned structures, maybe small villages like the settlements we have in NMS, maybe even something like the Nexus...
Now, i can only imagine what folks would build, and knowing how crazy you can go in NMS, i can only imagine what folks can do in a multiplayer world.
@@Eggroley also, you can see some fighting apparently, so may it also have dangeons and ruins that we could explore.
I've been dreaming of a game like this for over 15 years, just imagining what could be....to see it before my eyes is something else.
Some folks say that Starfield is a copy of NMS... and here i see a copy of Skyrim. Is Hello Games coping Bethesda now?

@@WarganicGGyes you can play as a cat and ride dragons on skyrim
@@IIMaison Answer the last question.
Hello Games is out of its redemption arc and into their amazing games arc.
I hope they keep making more procedural generated stuff. It’s their signature at this point.
What a great band too for a video game trailer, ive never seen their music be used! Go Alt-J!
By the way, one of their tracks was used in life is strange 1
What's an Alt J? Is that a shortcut on the keyboard? Like Alt Tab?
I thought the music was by Sam Smith.
If not for Monster Hunter Wilds, this would be the best reveal of the show. With almost all the trailers and teasers only showing cinematics, this is all gameplay. Can't wait for this
Monster Hunter Wilds! So excited. And agreed. LNF was second for me.
I think monster hunter is def hype and I will be playing it, but it was kinda expected. Light no Fire came out of nowhere and showed off so much gameplay, for me it was a better reveal trailer.
This was the high point for me, I love Hello Games. Also I'm not into the Monster Hunter franchise at all, so that's definitely a factor.
I mean its mostly riding a dragon. Its cool, but the most impressive thing ive seen is the building animations. The rest is kinda like if a NMS trailer was just ship cam footage.
I don't get how the Monster Hunter series is still popular, you do the exact same thing every game just in a slightly different setting. You even fight most of the same monsters over and over again. I'd love for a Monster Hunter game where you actually fight monsters like a MH+Bloodborne crossover.
Sean has learned a LOT over the years, i have full faith he's got it under control this time around 👍
Sean Murray has redeemed himself so thoroughly, that this will be a day one purchase for me.
Amen, this man deserves a crisp high five and all the praise!
With NMS, Star Citizen and Starfield I've often wondered about this whole thousands of planets thing. I kind of like the idea of a procedural universe, but I find it much more interesting to have just one procedural planet that is a lot more diverse and encourages that direct exploration. This game seems to go for exactly that. Promising!
Yeah it will be really interesting to see how it plays out by the sounds of it with players being able to build close to each other and things like that
Starfailed is the worst game ever. Bethesda is on the downhill from now on, and it seems Hello Games will replace them in the near future. I'm really hoping for Microsoft to dissolve Bethesda and give their IP's to respectful developers. Such as, Fallout to Obsidian and TES to Larian. If you ask what about Starfailed, they should just completely abandon that IP, it's not worth it. After all this done, I want to see the faces of Bethesda developers, especially Todd's and Emil's , who will be the laughing then 🤣
@@Seneschal914 I would love that, not the part about giving Fallout to Obsidian though. After playing the Outer Worlds, Obsidian has clearly lost their writing talent.
@@Seneschal914 lol You funny but the breaking records bit and 1 billion in revenue is a small inconvenience to your argument 😂 I agree though it could have been a lot better with a more sim like exp in space that’s where it face planted from top rope I think
@@honeybadger9425 they severely tarnished their reputation and goodwill from their fans, though. I wouldn't call it a success just they made 1 billion dollar, the prestige is essential as well as profit.
Definitely in my top 6 reveals of the show. Really proud with how they turned No Man Sky around and would even be tempted to pick this up day 1. Happy to support them!
This is insanely ambitious, which means very on brand for hello games, but I'm absolutely getting it. Looks like a dream come true if it delivers
I had the same thoughts. It looks amazing. Can’t wait to get it.
tbf this trailer isn't ambitious enough, a lot of what is shown looks and feels more like a natural evolution from NMS, even some assets, animations and gameplay shown are clear reworks from NMS
@@zebhybrid7159 Better to not repeat the mistakes of the past like what happened with NMS, but at the same token unlike most studios where the backlash would have been ignored and the studio moved on with the cash, they stuck with the game and improved it to the point where it was beyond the original expectations set during its launch days, Hello Games no doubt want to make sure what they show can be what they can do for this IP's launch so it doesn't have a repeat of NMS's past.
I knew when I heard Alt-J the trailer would give me goosebumps!
Dude it gave me goosebumbs all over !
Which Alt-J song is this? I have only heard three of their songs. Fitzpleasure, Dead Crush and Every Other Freckle.

When it goes from a story about failure, to a story about redemption, to just plain legendary
Hello Games refuses to stop cooking. I’m so pumped for this
Looks great.
It is like Valheim with a strong No Man's Sky aesthetic and anthropomorphic animals.
Same vibe I was about to say
It’s made by hello games
it’s like No Mans Sky/Valheim with a tad of Ark, it’s gonna be a great game as along as the planet isn’t too empty 🤌🏽
Actually i got some Skyrim vibe due to the anthropomorphic animals, and NMS DNA is all over.
@@BryanHaywood yes, it is literally in the video's title.
I didn't specifically single out No Man's Sky for no reason 😏
Finally a trailer of just gameplay. Looks sick!
I like Hello Games.. Sean Murray is a romantic dreamer.. he can fall , but he doesn' t stop to dream.
That's what we are calling a scammer...
I love Hello Games' art style and gameplay look. It's amazing that they've managed to carve out a distinct look and feel to their games when billion dollar companies fail to do the same even within the same IP (looking at you Ubisoft).
This makes me so happy, thank you Sean and the rest of Hello Games
I hope ya see this, No Man’s Sky is such an amazing arc, you could have left, instead you stuck to your vision and made the game that we all love now, I’ve been here since the very beginning
Nothing brings me more joy then to see you guys succeed, you gave us the universe to play in, after apologizing for so many years with the best updates
I can’t wait to buy this, Gods Speed Hello Games
You did great, and you’ll have this explorer, and many more, behind ya for years to come
Thank you, with all of my heart, thank you
*This game looks phenomenal!! The last time a game looked great before launch and matched the hopes it set upon launch was The Witcher 3 (for me). Most games I buy, and play for an hour or two, then I never play them again. I get bored.*
*This looks top notch!* 👍
I'm really happy for HelloGames, the hard work they've put in over the years has clearly paid off. Looks fantastic
lol i just came here to comment that I got this ad and recognized the song immediately- Hunger of the Pine by Alt J.
I give Sean and the Hello Games team credit. NMS has turned out to be one of my favorite titles since its release. I have a feeling they deliver on this as well!!
i´m just so happy to see one song of alt-J being use, i love his music
Hello Games are solid developers in my book. This looks interesting
They've become solid developers thanks to the nightmare of a launch they had with No Man's Sky.
@@NOMADcourier85 blame sony for their BS deadlines instead of letting developers finish games.
This was my favorite new project revealed at the show (which was nice, by the by). I look forward to finding out more about this project!
They are going to trick me again, I'm all in! Lol
this trailer already has way more content than the first No Man's sky trailer did, so I think they've learned their lesson and won't release an unfinished game again. Still, I expect them to add a lot more stuff over the years like they did with NMS.
me too!
I love NMS and I love fantasy, this is definitely my number one following game for me. Gonna track it’s progress till the day it comes out! I’m so ready for a new adventure.
I think this is absolutely genius. I've always thought the best way to start making an ambitious space game, was to have one dense planet as template to work off of. Everyone's seems to wanna immediately go for a gafillion planets, when just one would already be pretty insane. And if they nail it, that could be a powerful foundation to start creating more planets just as varied.
Also i love how you can see how much theyve learned when it comes to world building, gameplay mechanics, that they put into no mans sky and slapped a lot of them into a classic fantasy rpg. Hello games is the very definition of NO EXCUSES
This is the game I've always wanted to play.
I love that the trailer was basically all gameplay. They learned from NMS to show, not tell.
Let the Redemption arc continue, up up and into developer royalty we go. By the time I'm an old man I want to be looking back at their long history of successes.
Okay, Sean and Hello Games, your engine already can do VR, so PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE with cherry on top: PSVR2? I need this. I really really need this!
If they do that is the reason for me to get one asap.
Found you!!!! YES VR PLEASE!!!!!!
Thank you for including the track title in the description!
This was one of the best reveals of the night, I can’t wait to play this
Just think how awesome this game will be 6 years after it gets released
Easily my most anticipated game out of everything announced
Bro this studio has one of the best coneback under dog story. This looks amazing,im already itching to play.
This was my favorite reveal tonight
It’s good to see that Hello Games learned form it’s mistakes and developed a functioning prototype before publicly revealing the project.
Alright guys you know the drill! Overhype the game based on this trailer and the developer's interview lies, pre-order it, give way to mass disappointment when the game totally undelivers, and then wait for a bunch of updates that make the game way more more amazing than originally shown. That's how you foster true greatness from these games.
You forgot they updated it to be a great game but still missing several promised elements.
Now combine No Man Sky and Light No Fire into a giant MMO with every planet being as developped as one Light No Fire world, and millions of people playing on the same map
Millions wont be enough for that kind of scale...
The procedural worlds look even better in this one.
It's just one big dense and carefully crafted world.
@@theusmadden2690 you mean "carefully generated"
@@theusmadden2690 let's be careful, here, it says in the Steam page the it is procgen, not crafted...
@@Rovelius yeah ig they mean the proc-gen algorithms are more carefully crafted. still the world in this trailer seems a little featureless to me still, kind of empty and superficial
The number of traversal options (boats, kites, horses and dragons) is interestingly high. (Kites are in one of the first “rapid cuts” segments)
Best showing of the night! Very ambitious amazing looking game!
Alt J did the BGM for this video, will have to check this game out
Looks cool to me and I'll buy it solely for how fond I've become of the company, I trust that even if it's not quite perfect at launch they will work to deliver.
Yooo Alt J for a video game trailer is an S tank move
After all they have done to redeem NMS, I have full faith in this game to be epic ! Looks awesome

If they keep what they promised on the Game Awards this is gonna be amazing. Hope they weren't overselling it again. Coz I want it! A lot!
You realise it was pushy publishers and the fact their studio got flooded, that caused most of the problems don't you.
@@NickGroves-fz7in actually not quite about the flood
Go see the many documentaries about NMS and the own devs say that while the flood was indeed an unexpected setback, nothing major was lost and development continued fairly smoothly
Note the affirmation that the game seems intent on being iterative over time. Make sure to remember that to not oversell yourself to the idea, either!
this is using tech they built over years, those problems likely wont show their face this time.
They created a universe-sized universe and now a planet-sized planet. Hello Games just keeps upping the ante!
I hope those little skellingtons are necro summons. Would be cool.
Taking everything they learned from NMS and applying it here. But this time it's not an entire universe. Just a single planet. But a planet PACKED with life. I cannot wait.

Here we go again! Just nail the launch this time Hello Games. 😆😉
My first thought when I saw this advertised was “this looks a lot like how NMS feels…” then I knew there could only be one developer ambitious enough to attempt something like this, and it clicked.
Hello Games, you are the best developer. Both in terms of your craft, and your team.
Hands down.
Much respect to Hello Games, not many companies take a beating from over promising and under delivering and actually do better instead of serving the same slop over and over again. I expect the game to be buggy at first since early access games are but this game is in good hands.
My friends and I will create the greatest kingdom this world will ever see.
This is still in the NMS universe but now the resources are focused on a single planet
All my friends just called it “no man’s earth”, but they failed to realize this looks like all the good parts of every survival I’ve played :)
So is this in the same universe as No Man’s Sky? The big red orb at the end and some of the rest of it, felt like no man’s sky for sure.
In the Steam page says it is an ancient Earth...
I hope the world will also be full of different creatures interacting with each other. Also different seasons, different weather and so on :D

I will buy this as soon as it is available because I know for a fact that if the game is TERRIBLE, that Hello Games will not rest until it is a masterpiece.
NMS is a masterpiece ?
It is..
this is the reason game companies get away with buggy and terrible games at launch. I understand what you mean but it shouldn't be a trend and people shouldn't buy unfinished games for AAA prices.

Sean Murray back and droppin a huge HYPE bomb.
He tried not to hype it up.
Frankly, the first time, they weren't experienced and they didn't show to much stuff, here is the opposite, anyone that has played NMS knows what HG is capable of and what they showed is well in the boundaries of what they are capable of.

It almost looks like the Atlas from NMS towards the end. Same universe?
well considering that NMS is all in computer wouldn't be hard.
I'm getting that vibe too, aside from the art style and features being clearly inspired by their work on NMS. There's no way this doesn't tie in lore-wise to NMS.

Hello games learnt their lesson with how no mans sky released, and we've seen what they can do with how improved and amazing that game is now. I cannot wait to see what this new one brings it looks fantastic.
The game looks enticing but feels like it's going to a reskin of NMS with mostly the same gameplay. I'm concerned that it will feel too much like playing NMS set in a similar (or extended) game universe. I wonder what returning-player sentiment will be like if NMS players purchase the game and find that it feels the same?
You can recognize the tech but the level of detail seems much better here, still they have to solve the insane pop in problems of nms, but the dragon is also slower than a ship so that could help.
@@ALECXANDER. You have said this multiple times in the comment section.
Few questions.
1. Which assets are reused? Played NMS. I can't see a single thing in this trailer that is a directly reused No Mans Sky asset. The art style looks similar, but I imagine it somehow ties itself into the No Mans Sky universe... that's not in the least bit surprising or unexpected.
2. This trailer is not exactly like the No Mans Sky trailer. Just because you said it doesn't make it factually correct. Do you need a video with both side by side? The only things similar are that the major parts of the trailer begin in water, then go to land, then the air. Although even that is an incorrect way to look at it because this trailer doesn't actually start in water since the first few seconds are on land and a lot more is shown in-between flashes on this trailer giving more distinct areas and characters.
3. Even if this was true, none of it would be concerning. Why wouldn't they be reusing assets from another game they developed from the ground up? Every smart developer reuses assets to some degree. It's a waste of production time to rebuild everything entirely from scratch if you can have a template to work from and save a lot of time. It helps when both games have similar themes. Also the trailer having a similar layout could easily be seen as a callback to their launch release of No Mans Sky as a "Hey look, we can do it right this time."
Not saying the game is guaranteed to be good or bad. Although their development cycle speaks a lot for how far they have come since No Mans Sky at least. They are currently 5 years into development and probably won't release until AT LEAST 2025 at earliest (since no release date) where as No Mans Sky had 3 years (and technically only 1.5 since they lost everything in a catastrophic flood).
@@xPRODIGYxGAMER mostly is the animations and some assets here and there that give away the NMS dna, but i think some folks are making a big deal out of this, i thing the biggest thing that give away the NMS vibe is the artstyle, wich is undenyably like NMS.
I'm for one that already put my hand in the pocket for the money, i wan't this game so badly now!
no one has finished watching this video yet
Nope, keeping it on loop. Showing the algorithm what a real game company looks like
Already watched it live on the Game Awards stream
The biggest things that makes me excited about this is that it is not actually something aiming for a larger scope than No Man's Sky, but it is rather smaller and more focused on what seems to be the quality and density of content in the world, so I believe that it will be much more detailed and actually a deliverable promise for once.
Valheim if the devs didn't run off with the money.
