I'm not a vocal expert but I suppose it was kind of a challenge to sing in the original key and both were challenging to sing in the same key as the original singer.

Chen en si canta relajado pero en los agudos altos se rompe y lo deja todo a su rango, en cambio Eunkwang fuerza los pre-coros y en las notas altas suena demasiado bien porque ahí muestra una mejor técnica que Chen, en mi opinión a pesar de como se mostraron Eunkwang lo hizo mejor.

Now, from further observation, the two of them have a great voice n range. It's a note where not all woman could reach. Tho I see that both of them choose different perspective. One keeps on pushing till the last note and lyrics, but not so stable. While the other one reach for stability but forsake the lingering notes and lyrics. Still, a big applause for the both.
The song is just not in eunkwangs range. If he lowered it abit at first he wouldnt of been straining so much. Chen just has a naturally higher voice, so it sounds so much better. But the thing is, he's also screaming.. it's not easy for him either. Both are talented no doubt about it. I'm chen biased but it's clear thats whats happening.

Which was exactly the right choice because males forcing chest voice to hit G5 is both wrong technique that will ruin their vocal chords in the long run and will show obvious strain as evidenced by both Chen and Eunkwang here. That’s why I was emphasizing smoothness and effortlessness in my original comment.
