In Belgium you don't get a bag anymore at the store. You have to bring your own OR buy a reusable one.

@@BigAntsMom probably if you live in a big city but I can guarantee this isn't a thing in rural america, or even just smaller cities. the closest city to me that requires this is three hours away, everywhere else still gives free plastic bags.

In Jersey there’s no plastic bags anywhere. If you don’t bring your own you have to buy one of their reusable ones. This goes for the entire state
I purposefully leave a dollar in clothes I donate. Not a $100 just one dollar but I always felt like it was a cute surprise.

At this point, I use tote bags as my purse. Everything fits in there 😂
As someone who was a cashier for MANY years, I'd be more for people bringing their own bags if ONE, the cashier station was actually built to support it (we bagged our customers groceries for them and the holders were designed ONLY for the plastic bags, making other bags a pain in the ass to use) and TWO, if people actually kept their bags clean. The amount of times I got bags that smelled like straight up cat piss was too damn many. 🤮
Omg, yes. I was a cashier at Walmart for a few years and the people who would bring there own bags expected me to hold all other bags (as you said, there is no where to put them) and most people's bags were nasty and smelled very strange.....

I remember when I was in Australia in 2006 they didn’t have plastic bags in most grocery stores. You had to buy reusable ones or bring bags of your own. We’ve been doing that in Canada for a while now too and I like it…. I don’t like that I own like 200 reusable bags because we forget to bring bags sometimes…. 😂
I found if I put my car keys immediately back into the bag once I unload it - it ensures that you get your reusable ones back into the car for next time!
Yeah Australia introduced the reusable bags when I was a kid. Our car boot was full of them 😂
We have paper bags now too which are great if you forget your bags but it’s definitely a learned habit remembering to grab them before you go in. 😅

I have worked in retail sales/grocery stores for over 20 years. These reusable bags are DISGUSTING!!! People throw them in the car, covered in dog hair, baby puke on them, dirt from kids shoes, thrown in a shopping cart with bird poop on it, then it gets put on the checkout lane where people put their food. Not sanitary at all. The cashier then has to touch it and then touch the next person's food. Just nasty.

I live in California and after the 10 cent bags went into effect quite a few people used the reusables. But then the pandemic hit and they wouldn't let us bring them into the store, fearing contamination. I don't see that people have gone back to the reusables as of yet, everyone just pays the 10 cents. My fav here is the cat troublepuffs bag.
My thing is: I always wonder what everyone smells like. Who wears CK1? Who wears Polo? Does any person there wear Fahrenheit, by Dior? How about Chanel? Anyone there wearing Chanel? Where are my YSL folk? How many are wearing self-mixed oils? Who smells like what? Do any of you wear a fragrance you refuse to identify? I would, and I do.
Fun fact: those resuable bags have to be used 100 times for them to be environmentally friendly when compared to plastic bags.
