Great job Dean! Agreed, they really dropped the ball on explaining what's going on. A thought...how much safer is it they trade one danger for another without telling us? As others have mentioned, putting one battery in reversed won't short circuit the batteries but it will allow operation with just a single battery. The odds of forcing that one battery into thermal runaway is low but it could certainly lead to it venting.
Mooch I agree to an extent but you have to understand that anyone using mechs should not be wondering if they put the batteries in the right way. You should always be aware of battery orientation
Another possible issue: Since dual battery parallel box mods, such as this one, share the amp load across both batteries. If you don't notice you've got a battery inserted incorrectly then put on a very low build atomizer. That would put a lot of stress on a single battery which could cause a catastrophic failure of the one battery that is delivering all the power. Awesome vid mate!
That is true. However, if somebody is running a very low build in the first place they are playing with danger regardless. Battery chemistry/safety isn't as simple as just watching your amp draw, getting as close to the batteries internal resistance as many people do is the most worrying part. At that stage, building series would be far safer and more satisfying.
man! the lighting , video quality , the dive down table logo was all superb🤙🏼 and giving a clear talk or clarity how you explain things? deymm.. subscribing now😁
Great info as always. Gonna hold out for my Vapeamp Rig Variable Wattage Mech Mod. It's is $100 more than this but has a 40 amp fuse and better protection against hard shorts. A little piece of plastic that will wear over time and use keeping the batteries from shorting I just can't do.
i know this is a old video but you said you were gonna take it out side to prove it will blow up, this is going above and beyond (so would the mod lol) so respect is due in bucket loads, thankyou for another great video. ( i kinda still wanted to see it go pop though lol).
The Anubis Mod says the same thing ; In the case of the ANUBIS, it's to do with the battery plugs. They won't let a circut be completed... or so I've been told.
I quite like the look of this, however owning a releaux dna 200 and knowing all too well about one of the batteries not making proper contact, my concern would be if you had built a low build with parallel in mind and one of the batteries wasn't making proper contact its not going to end well
Great info Dean. I was lucky enough to meet you & your good lady @ the Birmingham vape show last year. You are one of the most approachable YT guys I have met. I wish GV would have put a discreet MosFet protection in this like the Tesla Invader 3 but I just know I'm gonna buy this beast. Thumbs up from me.
thanks pablo! Just as a heads up and hopefully it'll be a bit of useless info for the future, but mosfets don't do anything for the batteries, they help protect a switch such as a mitec :)
chip or fuse reverse polarity protection is more likely to malfunction than this.. The fact that the battery cant make contact makes this probably the best protection there is.
naw dude its got a chip that operates in all modes - how else would u get the flashing lights - plus, not truly unregulated if it wont fire below a certain resistance, which it doesn't BTW. sorry to be nitpicky pal, peace
all this discussion in the chat below about the single battery being overloaded if the other battery was inserted the wrong way etc.....A simple solution (Common Sense really).....ALWAYS MAKE SURE you correctly insert BOTH batteries!! When using a Mech this is A vital Rule. it's an awesome Mod and love it and #GEEKVAPE have done an awesome job with this little beauty. so worth the money!!
Well done spotting the protection feature. Slightly disagree that I should not good enough, fitting fuse or diode would not get rid of the running on one battery problem unless other features are added. Effectively a board. The fact it is physical rather than electrical is not a defining point but I think your suggestion of a better explanation and the name of the feature could be better, add no physical or mechanical to the phrase with a description would or should be enough. At times safety and risk assessment are being confused. A stick of dynamite is safe if stored and handled correctly but the risk assessment would still be high due to the result. It's a bit picky but important to be talking about the right one. In a risk assessment the ultimate outcome is always boom. But most mods are safe by design. Simply the outcome compared to the likelihood of it happening. Here it's the chance of that ring being damaged allowing incorrect fitting also the chance someone is going to fit it wrong.
Thanks, thats really scary, just like me, heheh, and I'm restocking up on batteries on monday, SONY vtc5A's. At least five more, for me mechs=D Happy vaping! T
Hmmm, not loving that. And my first thought echoes what others have said already, it has the potential to overload the single battery if one is reversed on a low parallel build. Mooch will have kittens when he sees this!
my thoughts on mechanical mods vs regulated is that why would someone want to play Russian roulette with safety knowing with all the technology we have with the safety of regulated mods it's just makes no sense IMO
Historically regulated mods have been no safer than mechanical when you look at the cause of incidents. The biggest factor is people carrying batteries in their pockets
plus how long will our regulated mods actually last before the chip shits the bed? ....also ppl forget only literally a couple of years back mechs were the only way to vape over 30W...
I wasn't quite so brave when I was fully kevlar'd up outside putting the things in to try and blow them up before I realised how the protection worked LOL
Great job Dean! Agreed, they really dropped the ball on explaining what's going on.

Thanks buddy, and I completely agree not ideal at all

So glad I've found someone that doesn't just do reviews but informs/educates as well. Thanks for the heads up great as always.
Thanks Dave
Thanks for clearing that up Dean I was wondering what the protection was as it's advertised as a mech.
man! the lighting , video quality , the dive down table logo was all superb🤙🏼 and giving a clear talk or clarity how you explain things? deymm.. subscribing now😁
Cheers Head Shot!

Thanks for the hilights. Seems to be a well build mech mod with some welcome and simple "safety" features.
Excellent info Dean! Thanks for taking the time to clear that up. It's truly appreciated
I know I'm not the only one who flinched when you put the battery in backwards, haha
LOL :D
i know this is a old video but you said you were gonna take it out side to prove it will blow up, this is going above and beyond (so would the mod lol) so respect is due in bucket loads, thankyou for another great video. ( i kinda still wanted to see it go pop though lol).
40 seconds in and we already have an editing goof. Dean is at the top of his game!
Hush, I wrote it in the description, trying to record a vlog tonight as well so rushed it :(
YOU CAN'T SILENCE THE TRUTH, DEAN!
I liked it :-D
The Anubis Mod says the same thing ; In the case of the ANUBIS, it's to do with the battery plugs. They won't let a circut be completed... or so I've been told.
Good video, that explained it well. I wondered the same thing and am glad it is fully mechanical.
I've just bought one of these and waiting for it to arrive thanks very much for your explanations of this mech pro mod
Thank you Dean. Your explanation is easier to understand.
Love the label on those batteries.
Those HG2's clearly state that use in e-cigarettes is strictly prohibited. My mum warned me that you bikers were outlaws :P
#anarchy ;-)

+Mark Sutcliffe exactly
Very excellent information Dean. Thank you amigo.
Its so difficult or i will ruin the vape production if they just add a protection??i never use a mech mod so im not familiar with how they work!
what tank do you have on it and where did you get the drip tip
Hey Dean looking to get my first mech, which mech would you say is the safest to buy for getting into mech use?
thanks very much, that has definitely cleared that up
What about when the top plate wears out
Even though I knew nothing was going to happen when you put the battery the wrong way around I still shat myself and I know I'm not the only one! Haha
LOL I'm the dangerman of vaping what can I say LOL

i want one! great vid as usual mate!
Good video Dean

Still waiting on my rx300 and dump tank before I can have it large :'(
I'll still use my noisy cricket 2, not quite a full mech kinda like semi-mech but it can do everything any mods do nowadays except temp control...
+TheCano94 that's regulated buddy
+Vaping Biker It is regulated and un-regulated. Regulated and unregulated for battery in series setup and unregulated for parallel battery setup...
naw dude its got a chip that operates in all modes - how else would u get the flashing lights - plus, not truly unregulated if it wont fire below a certain resistance, which it doesn't BTW. sorry to be nitpicky pal, peace
it seems is gonna be my first mech Dean, thanks for sharing the information 👍👍👍👍👍😃😃😃😃😃😃🔝🔝🔝
gonna get myself one of this.

Beautiful box, cant wait to get one, finally an affordable parallel box :D
So this video is a show and tell of first impressions not a full review right?
Not a full review, clearing up the mech/unregulated issue
I want this one

Is that battery warning common now?

nice vid dean
i hope the reverse battery protector doesn't fit too snug... looks like it could clog your battery vents. hopefully geekvape tested venting. lol
you the man biker Deen!!
technically if its a true mech, you shouldn't you be able to run the batteries in either direction, as long as they're both in the same direction?
Technically you can if the protection is also mechanical
Thank you good sir
If it's a Mechanical Mech . How are you suppose to clean it ?
As with all mechanical devices, you take it apart
very kind and informative review, and life saving too👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻..
and who the hell want to dislike this video????
it love it and it's not confusing to me it's worded perfect IMO theytell the truth mech with reverse protection
well done... good on you Biker... indeed
Cheers fella :)
nice video

Good one on u bro
your a brave man!! lol!! even with the plastic ridge think i'd still avoid doin that!! thanks for riskin ur fingers!! so we don't have to!! lol!!
I wasn't quite so brave when I was fully kevlar'd up outside putting the things in to try and blow them up before I realised how the protection worked LOL
kevlar'd up!! health n safety would b proud!! sorry did i say health n safety, i meant mrs biker!! lol!! 🤣👍🏼
So, it basically implies the same method Filipino modders use in their full mech devices but a bit cruder.
I need a parallel mech in my life :-)
Noisy Cricket II-25 does everything you want. Parallel, Series, Regulated Series
It's an engineering solution to the problem.
damn no bangs 😁
Mechanical Battery Protection
because science cam :-)
You know it ;-)
Mech. No mosfet, mechanical switch.
what tank do you have on it and where did you get the drip tip
Juan Ortiz its the medusa rdta, comes with the mech pro kit
Juan Ortiz it's the peerless rda from geekvape
