- With a family history of diabetes, Roxanne knew a diagnosis was always a possibility. When that diagnosis came, she took it head on, following her doctor's advice about setting up an exercise and diet plan that make sense for her life.
Now 40 pounds lighter, Roxanne says she's never been healthier and never felt better.
She cautions other people who've received the diabetes diagnosis to avoid the temptation of "quick fixes."
"They promise to reverse your diabetes or lose 20 pounds in a week," she says. "There are no quick fixes when it comes to this. It's time, energy and effort. It shouldn't be considered the worst thing ever. Because it's not."
