Angelyne introduced me then married me to my husband from Switzerland and I love her for this. Emmy nails her character... just spot on.
I've met Angelyne numerous times and contrary to what I assumed she'd be like, she's an absolute sweetheart. Is she a bit kooky? Sure. Does she have to resort to odd tactics to make money like selling trinkets and photographs? Yea (she actually asked if I knew of anyone who might want to buy one of her several pink Corvettes - not sure why she has so many). Overall, she's a really nice person at the core. Would do small gestures to show her appreciation and never came off as diva-ish. Just wanted people to know that.
I can see how Angeline's fashion of hot pink roared in the'80s hot pink and black, large polka dots and neon colors. I liked Emmy's description of her as a provocateur.
Looking past her obvious physical appeal, Emmy Rossum is incredibly articulate and well informed and quite the analytical thinker. When given a chance to speak on non shlock stupid interview stuff, she can really touch on the some pretty complex matters with some deep contemplation.
@Kenefv2 Without judging TS (don't really stay abreast of her qualities), I'd say the dude that has Emmy as a partner. ER seems quite refined and sophisticated and well informed. I need intellectual engagement from a partner. TBH the physical really becomes quite boring quickly absent substantive exchanges when NOT physically entangled.
She is a very unique person, and with it comes a whole unique issues, I'm sure the production at shameless couldn't handle such unique talent. But damn it , she was needed for the last season .
She will do amazing things for the years to come as talent and unique personalities like her are hard to come by , such a beautiful person physically and mentally ,I wish I knew her more in depth ...and be amazed and scared and intrigued and be in awe of her.

It’s wild that you’re “sure the production at Shameless couldn’t handle” her when she was the front runner on the show for 9 seasons. For them to not be able to handle her, it’s amazing that they did just that for almost an entire decade. It’s quite clear that they could and did handle her just fine. It’s still unfortunate that she left before the final season.

The first time I ever saw Emmy was when I was a little girl watching Phantom of the Opera ❤️ I remember thinking she was the most beautiful woman id ever seen, I’m so glad to see where she is now.
Not my type of movie, but Rossum in Shameless is one of my favorite characters ever. I will check it out just on her acting ability.
She did a spectacular job & the entire series was done with love & respect.
I know that in a recent interview Angelyne wasn't happen with the way she was portrayed in this series, especially by Rossum. I personally think Rossum did amazing. I hope the series and renewed interest in her inspires a reality series about. I think that's what she has always wanted, to be understood on her own terms.
People like that are never happy with anything, that's why she created a persona to hide from herself. It's very sad really.

Well to be fair she didn’t do AMAZING job.. the voice was definitely not right and i this rossum isn’t just so hyper feminine like angelyne. I’ve been HUGE fan of angelyne for yearrssssss and she’s too unique in a weird way

I’m glad she explained the show I wasn’t sure what to think but after 5 episodes it leaves the fact Angelyne is a enigma.

I first saw her on Phantom of the Opera. That was stunning. Didn't give a rat's behind that it didn't do well with the reviewers, I liked it well enough for her performance and that of Patrick Wilson.
Such an original and technically outstanding production. A funny but multi-layered commentary on the Hyper Artifice that is Hollywood and the naked pursuit of celebrity.
The writing, editing and casting is outstanding. Better, more entertaining than most theatrical releases out there, right now.
Angelyne was perfect in “Earth Girls are Easy.”
She was SO good in this series that it blew me away. Complete transformation!
The show is wild, and Rossum is great as usual. She really gets to have fun.
I was so sad to hear that the cast and crew were all relieved to see her go when she left Shameless. She’ll always be Fiona in my heart. ❤️

Never got into shameless but me and her share the same exact “beauty mark” on the same cheek. I only know about her because of close friends/family saying how I remind them of her. And I took that as a compliment bc I love what she stands for and her work, plus she’s a beaut 💕

Am I the only person who feels she is not the best casting choice--despite her talent? I feel like I'm watching someone impersonate Ang (granted that's truth) as opposed believing I'm watching the person. Even the voice is off. Seems the character is more a caricature. Maybe I was biased though as I read Angelyne's comments on Emmy as her and she felt it was not close to how she presents in real life. She seemed to feel it was condescending. I see that. Casting agents, I'd have thought, would go for Scarlett Johannson or Chloe Sevigny maybe Elizabeth Moss... or a host of others... but this is wayyy to much of a stretch for me.

That's fantastic that they've made a series about Angelyne - I always found those billboards so mysterious and inexplicable, back in the pre-Internet days. And unlike with most clips they show on talk shows, this one was a great excerpt, and the show looks really good. I wasn't familiar with Emmy Rossum before this, but holy cow, is she yummy! Oh, uh, and seems very talented too!! 😅
So apparently the real angelyne doesn't like how they potray her in this series. She even said emmy has long face. But she still took the money tho lol

Angelyne is the only person to run in both the 2003 and 2021 CA Governor recall elections. I voted for her last fall because she was the best joke candidate in that ridiculous election. Angelyne got more votes from Los Angeles County (where they both live) than Caitlyn Jenner, though Caitlyn got more statewide. She is an icon!
