This was my grandma's house, she passed away 12 -13 years ago. This house was apart of my up bringing. After she passed her daughter moved in. The house was always cold, the bathroom is original, the laundry used to have an old washing scrub board in the sink. The kitchen has been renovated, there was an open fire place /stove where grandma used to cook. The stairs have been fixed, there used to be a gate at top of stairs, yo stop us kids getting into the bedrooms. Our back behind the shed was a chook pen, a big massive tree with a cubby house next to the old BBQ area. Behind that was Apple Orange and pear trees, then the creek. There used to be horse stables to the right of the house, big paddock with a feed shed. Plum tree and mandarin tre behind that.. The stone BBQ looking thing under the peppercorn tree was her compost. Its so sad to see it ran down like that, and to know it will be demolished is really really sad. Grandma took so much pride in her house and yard.

Oh wow thank you for providing information on this old gem that once was your grandparents home. It is very sad that the home will be demolished. Would be great if the home can be saved and restored to formal glory. Regarding the bathroom, you mentioned is original. It appears that the bathroom would have been added during the art deco period. No doubt so many tails regarding the old 1880 cottage.
Wow I so enjoy hearing the history of these places, from your childhood memories are lovely. Yes please share old pics of this once loved and cherished family home. Family history is so precious. The more simpler Aussie life it was! 😀👍
This was once a much loved cottage. The yard was a gem that just needed a little polishing. I bet that who ever owned it treasured the outside as well as the inside.
hey mate that was my grandma's place years ago, that she had passed on years ago, but the staircase had a bit of a landing were a phone was and down stairs underneath. in the kitchen, the sink was not that size, as you walked towards the sink, the blank wall on your left there was a wood over, that might be still there. the top floor were you found the chest of draw there was a fire place behind it and that was the lounge. in the back yard which is big there you should of found fruit trees. the place had a horse stable
Thank you Urbex Indigo for taking us through an original 1880 cottage that is simple in design, but once had so much history. The cottage is certainly unusual and different to other old cottages you have explored. Again what a pity this old gem could not be restored back to former glory.
and Doreen, my mother, always used to prefer to cook on the wood stove in the kitchen. That meant chopping wood, which she did, as she also did when she was a girl in another cottage in Anderson Avenue, up the road, now pulled down. In heat-waves we slept downstairs as the upstairs didn't have any insulation, and was too hot in the bedrooms. We kept a cow in what was called the horse-shed, and had chooks. Many more fruit trees then, and a rose garden down near the creek. You will find a deep pit at the back of the shed, over-filled with dirt, but lots of old stuff is probably still stored there. Originally 5 acres of land. Very pretty when it was looked after. Thanks to Patrick Bunting for the youtube link. Yes, the bathroom was added on afterwards, shortly after the sewer easement was established at the bottom of the gully.
This was such a shame! Beautiful back yard, lots of shade from the trees & the creek as a bonus! No water feature near my house & my yard is an acre without trees. I love it, thanks Paul you are amazing! 🙋♀️💜🇺🇸👍

I don't think I've seen a type of home like this where you walk in the front door and straight to stairs going down. How odd. I like the bathroom fixtures and I like the yellow/black colors. Very nice. It is sad that someone gave it a very good try to fix up then didn't stay. Huge trees on the side of the house. Really nice location.
Pretty cool buildings you are exploring and taking us through, bud. Love to see the different building styles, and sad to see them being torn down. Cheers!!!

Who puts a steep descending staircase immediately inside the front door? Don't come home without the lights on, you'll break your neck. Love the yellow fixtures, those are cool! Hey...what is that song snippet you play at the beginning of your videos? I tried Googling "swinging along" but no luck.
Ok ...was able to finish watching. Don't care much for the interior. Whoever did bits and pieces..of up dates, made the inside look really harsh and cold looking. Such a shame. Could have done a better job, by making old place quirky and cosy. Out side, some parts look interesting, others ruined. Loved the lot it's on, and peppercorn trees. Loved the huntsman spider. Whoa..it sounds seriously hot over there..stay cool,

What a strange little house.
Pretty kooky and spooky layout! :-)
You would think they would fix these homes up for low income folks..would be nice..but anymore it's a throw away society most younger generation don't think about fixing anything they just throw it away and buy new and it's very sad I'm not a real old person but I see a lot of nice things and a lot of old things that people don't really understand that I do it's just a shame somebody could be living in that home that don't have one sad,, but glad you showed it to us and never would have seen it cuz I never go anywhere stuck in the USA my whole life and I guess that's just the way it is y'all pretty cool out showing us stuff though that's neat I like it thanks a lot..because other wise I'd never see anything..🤗🤗
Hi Tessie :-) Great comments, I too love seeing the old things and not care really much for the brand new. Also ive not been overseas either so watching youtube videos does indeed give us a real nice look around the world :-) Thanks for watching

Hi Stephanie :-) Thanks for the support again! :-)
Your very welcome Sir
Who puts a steep descending staircase immediately inside the front door? Don't come home without the lights on, you'll break your neck.
Love the yellow fixtures, those are cool!
Hey...what is that song snippet you play at the beginning of your videos? I tried Googling "swinging along" but no luck.
This place would have cost a huge bundle of $ money to renovate! Im guessing that whoever started renovating it ran out of $ money!
Obviously, built before code to have a small entrance and then the lower staircase smack up front at the entrance a very dangerous situation.
01:14 don't know but those stairs would be dangerous if you didn't see them at first
They also might have not had full title to the house or done the renos without permits
Whoa..it sounds seriously hot over there..stay cool,
Did it actually GO...???🤔🤔
I guess termites don't like the taste of chipboard what with all the adhesive involved.
😊👍
I hate a basement stairway aligned with the front door. You open the door, take three steps, and plummet down the stairs.
