hey bro!! Been a long time!! Im about to work on the USA-1 trans shift points myself, glad I found your old video on here again!! I knew a time would come again! How you doing.
Great video I took my transmission apart and done what you said from the other video I had a bad 1st gear one way after the part arrived I went through it again and man truck shifts great and is a ton of fun be looking for you to do your gear upgrade appreciate it
Glad to hear you've got yours working and that the video was helpful! I'm itching to do the metal gear upgrade soon, will be sure to post a video on it
At 5:17 in the video, you point out the shim in between the two cams. However, according to Page 8 (step 7) of the Kyosho build-manual, there is NO shim. This is not the first place where I saw a shim installed where the manual did not call for one. On my truck, between the clutch bell and the clutch shoes, I found TWO shims, where the manual only calls for one. It was causing my clutch bell to jam up. Once I removed the extra shim, my clutch bell freed up. Hmmmm...
Hello I have a question the grub screw that holds the sprocket on I accidentally stripped and I'm not sure what size it is do you know what size grub screw that is the one that goes in the sprocket with a chain around it thank you
Are the "made-in-Japan" replacement transmission parts of higher quality than the "made-in-China" original parts? I notice my USA-1 Box says "made in China," whereas the replacement transmission parts (gears, cams, and shaft) are all made in Japan.
I had lubed the trans prior to this service. Also my shaft looks that way because I filed it gently as I did my last one, the shaft coating was rough from factory which may have cause the seize
Hello sir, i’m really interested in buying that kyosho usa 1 nitro that you’ve already fixed the transmission problem. If u interested in selling too please let me know, and we can have a chat. Thx😊🙏🏽
one thing i just help but notice as @Turok goes through this maintenance routine is just how scarred and "grooved" the appearance of the main shaft is, it has to be the weakest link in this design, and i think kyosho really dropped the ball by not making it a premium hardened part
I actually filed my shaft down, hence the marks. I had to do the same to my first shaft since the failed needle bearings left grooves which I filed away. It worked flawlessly after...so I did the same on the new one. Kyosho did send out some different hardened shafts but I haven't had to use them yet

Your gears slide off nice compared to mine. Mine were literally seized. That shaft has a bunch of burrs
I had lubed the trans prior to this service. Also my shaft looks that way because I filed it gently as I did my last one, the shaft coating was rough from factory which may have cause the seize
Did you swap the bushings over from the gears or just the 1 bearing from third
I didn't swap any bushings on this one
I’m confused, I thought the taller/larger diameter gear would be 3rd gear?
No the taller the spur gear, smaller clutch bell gear, more power less speed and vice versa.
@@rc-jatodaniel Oh ok I gotcha!
Hey turok I have a question so do I turn clock wise to shift earlier and counter clockwise to shift sooner?
Clockwise would be later shift, counter for sooner
